Thoroughly Tested for Safety

This hub-and-drum assembly meets the requirements for certification by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA). The CSA creates standards, which when complied with ensure a safe and quality product. This assembly underwent extensive testing to measure stopping distances when braking. This assembly has also been tested by QAI for braking performance in a complete automotive setup and under real-world conditions to provide the most realistic scenario for the everyday driver.

E-Z Lube and Easy Grease-Compatible Assembly for Simple Lubrication

The grease cap on this hub-and-drum assembly is specially designed to work with your Dexter E-Z Lube or etrailer Easy Grease axle to make lubricating bearings quick and easy. Just remove the plug on the grease cap, attach a grease gun to the zerk fitting on the end of the spindle, and inject the grease. It will flow easily to both inner and outer bearings. Not only does this make lubricating the bearings easy, but it also helps to prevent corrosion of the hub. This is because you can lubricate the bearings without the mess of taking apart the entire assembly.

Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: 8 on 6-1/2 means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: 5 on 4-1/2 means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance (D) from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

JUST REMOVE FROM THE BOX AND INSTALL ETRAILER HAS MADE IT THAT SIMPLE

by:

The hub assembly was an EXACT replacement for the OEM hub on my 5th wheel trailer. It was easily installed to replace the hub that failed. I was surprised at how quickly etrailer shipped the part and how fast it arrived at my home.

Never had a problem with the replacement hub assembly. I worked perfectly up until we traded for a new 5th wheel in Sept. 2018.

by:

I needed new hub and wheel parts for a 7k lb axle on a large triaxle toyhauler. Michael H was very helpful answering questions and George J had the right parts to me quickly and efficiently. etrailer.com and their staff are excellent to work with.

by:

Great except that you sent me lug nuts that are too small for the studs.

by:

Only one of the 4 where delivered. Had to call to find out other are still in transit.

by:

Boxes were in great shape this time. Super glad about that!

  • Replacement Hub and Drum Assembly For Axletek BD-865-37 Trailer Hub
The Easy Grease Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly # AKHD-865-7-1-EZ-K matches the specs for your Axletek BD-865-37 hub. This hub has an 8 on 6-1/2" bolt pattern with 9/16" lug nuts and studs. It uses the Inner Bearing # 25580 and Outer Bearing # 14125A with a 2.25" inner diameter Grease Seal # GS-2250DL. If you are also needing brake assemblies, I recommend the Dexter Nev-R-Adjust Electric Trailer Brake Kit # 23-464-465. These are self adjusting brakes that will ensure you have a more consistent...

  • How to Determine if a 7K Dexter Trailer Axle Hub has 1/2 Inch or 9/16 Inch Studs
The only difference between the Dexter 7K hubs and hub and drum assemblies that have either 1/2 inch studs or 9/16 inch studs are the studs themselves. Otherwise they are exactly the same. You can use calipers such as # PTW80157 to measure the diameter of the studs you have. Or you can check the hubs you have for any numbers stamped into them. If you see a 219-04 or 219-09 then it has 1/2 inch studs. If you see a 219-13 or 219-18 they are 1/2 inch. It is also possible that this information...

We do not have an axle with those capacities, the best we can offer is the 7,000 lb Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension # TASR7KS01. You could then use the Easy Grease Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly # AKHD-865-7-1-EZ-K.

  • How To Upgrade from 6-Lug to 8-Lug Hubs On a 7K Axle
In order to swap from 6-lug hubs to 8-lug hubs on a 7K axle you simply need new hubs, the Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly part # AKHD-865-7-1-EZ-K. The Electric Trailer Brake Kit part # AKEBRK-6 can then be used to add brakes to the un-braked axle. It is not very common to have 6-lug hubs on a 7K axle so this will be a great option for better parts compatibility.

  • Recommended Hub and Drum Assemblies and Brakes for 7,000 Pound Triple Axle Trailer
To determine exactly which hubs you need you'll need to find your bearing numbers. Most likely you have # 25580 and # 14125A but verify to be sure. If these are correct you'll next want to find the diameter of your wheel studs and if you have E-Z Lube axles. If the studs are 9/16 inch use # AKHD-865-7-1-EZ-K for E-Z Lube axles and # AKHD-865-7-1-K for standard axles. For 1/2 inch studs instead use # AKHD-865-7-2-EZ-K for E-Z Lube or # AKHD-865-7-2-K for standard axles. Then you need...

I am happy to help point you in the right direction. With the information you provided we can certainly narrow it down. I will say that I could not find any references for the part number 030120 that you provided. So we will need to look at a few things in order to determine fitment. All of the 8 lug hub/drums with 9/16" studs that we carry are rated for either 7,000 or 8,000 lb axles. So confirming the axle capacity would help to narrow down which hub you will need.
