OEM Dexter parts well worth the cost. Brakes are very important in the scenarios I use my trailer. You definitely feel 6 brand new brake setups behind you! etrailer kept me well informed through the process on order status. Shipping was quick. Will be shipping etrailer for any of my trailer stuff going forward.

by:

etrailer always the best service with quality products. Brake assembly is excellent quality.

by:

My 40' 5th wheel came with Dexter axles & manual adjust brakes. They were a constant pain to get adjusted evenly and so they didn't overheat. These self-adjusting brakes are an easy upgrade. No more uneven brakes, even when applied hard. If I get another trailer with manual adjust brakes I will upgrade to these first thing. The best upgrade I've done on my 5th wheel in the past 5 years.

by:

Exact replacement and the installation was easy. You will need to do a few stops from about 40 mph using the trailer brakes for the new brakes to adjust.

by:

Quinn did sn excellent job on my order We compared pricing and informed me as to del8very times, I received email updates and was informed as to when to expect delivery. Oustanding and professional customer service, Highly recommend etrailer your trailer needs.

by:

My issue “IS NOT” with etrailer, whom I cant say enough good things about! Always great customer service and fast shipping, etc.

My issue is with Dexter. My brake assemblies arrived with damaged wires due to the way they were packaged. The boxes were not torn up so UPS wasn’t hard on them in shipping, its the simple fact the wires are on the bottom with the weight and pressure from the brake assemblies laying on them. More care needs to be taken by Dexter to protect the wires in packaging for storage/shipping to the consumer. The wires are a critical component for electric brakes to function.

You can’t just stop in the middle when you have everything torn apart and send them back, so I rectified the problem as best I could with some marine heat shrink, but I should not have to be fixing anything on brand new parts!

by:

Amazing place to order from. Order came a day earlier than scheduled.

by:

Love the dexter brakes, however their packaging is inadequate. Out of the 4 brake assemblies I bought 2 of them were partially disassembled.

I have pulled my 5th wheel trailer at least 4000 miles since the brake rebuild. Everything has only improved. Brake pads seated in and the brakes work great. Having all new parts does give me a feeling of confidence in the Colorado Mounatins.

by:

Troy, the service rep that I dealt with on my most recent order from etrailer.com, did a fantastic job helping me identify the exact parts I needed to replace the wheel bearings and brake assemblies on my 40 foot Big Horn 5th Wheel. I believe the prices were very reasonable and the service was faster than I expected. Thanks Troy, and I'll definitely recommend etrailer.com as a super place to get your trailer repair parts and accessories.

All the products are working well!

by:

Definitely could have been packaged so the brake assemblies were not contacting each other during shipment. They were not damaged, but some packing material between the assemblies is preferred. These are direct replacements/upgrades for my 2013 Fuzion 2 axle 5th Wheel 12x2 electric brakes. Dexter makes quality products and these are of their usual top quality! Highly recommend these as a replacement/upgrade because stopping is a wonderful thing!

Still operational, no problems.

by:

I ordered a set of brake assemblies for a dual axle 14K # trailer on Thursday with expected delivery on late Monday or Tuesday & they were delivered 2 pm Saturday. I was amazed at the prompt service with parts well packed in 2 boxes. Now-a-days when money is tight we order online & take a chance on anything to save a dollar....the biggest surprise....Made in USA...Thank you so much for supporting American Industry.... 2nd time ordering from etrailer & same great service.

After a year and several thousand miles of towing we have had no further brake issues after installing this. Very happy! Great product!

by:

I ordered these as replacement brakes for our 42' (21,000 lb) camper. I AM SO HAPPY! My braking capabilities have improved over the standard non-adjusting model by 100%. They have performed great. I actually can stop for yellow lights.

Products are still preforming as expected

by:

I bought replacements for all four wheels, even though only one of the originals was broken. I have only replaced the one that was broken, holding the others in reserve.

That said, I am very happy with the one I installed. As with any items I have purchased from etrailer.com, I am happy with the quality of the products, the speed with which those products arrive, the cost of the products, and the convenience of purchasing from them.

I will continue to purchase from this company and tell my friends of their products.

Thank you.

works as it is supposed to work. No issues.

by:

I must tell you, my fellow etrailer shoppers and handi-man repair individuals that approx. 1 yr. ago I purchased 4- Dexter Nev-R-Adjust Electric Trailer Brake replacement assembies for my Big Horn 36ft. 5th wheel from etrailer and had the pleasure to be connected to customer service Rep. Phyllis L.. Phyllis went out of her way to make sure that I would receive the correct parts needed to get me on my way to our snowbird location 2200 miles away from home! The Dexter trailer brake assemblies were very easy to install and the initial adjustment was simple. 5000 miles later they are working very well.
Thanks etrailer , Phyllis L.

Not good , they all got contaminated with grease what a mess.

It sounds like you may have a broken grease seal. It looks like you may have a 7,000 lb Dexter axle. You will need to measure the part of the spindle where the grease seal rides. If it measures 2.125" you will need part # BK3-210. If it measures 2.25" you will need part # BK3-200.

by:

Shipment was on time. Quality of product was excellent will recommend your company to anyone thank you for helping us get the right parts

by:

Seems good. Right fit, did what it's supposed to. Haven't driven down the road yet.

by:

Bought these Dexter because I wanted to replace unknown manufacturer of OEM brakes on newer fifth wheel. This product is "Made in USA" and quality is very good. My only complaint is that the rims of all four backing plates had severe scratches in the black paint and I repainted them before installation to reduce rusting. They got some rough handling somewhere. The shipping package was not damaged and each plate was wrapped in brown paper.

by:

One of the assemblies failed with less than 1000 miles.

by:

Excellent customer service and the brake units work great!

  • Info Needed to Find Self Adjusting Trailer Brakes
The Dexter Nev-r-Adjust assembly part # 23-464 is a self-adjusting 12 inch by 2 inch assembly for a 7,000 lb axle that has a matching right side of # 23-465. If your trailer has a different size/capacity need let me know what that info is and I will set you up with the parts you are in need of. I attached an install video for the assemblies mentioned as well.

  • Hub/Drum Recommendation to Fit Timbren Axle Less Kit # ASR35HDS02
For a hub/drum that does fit the Timbren Axle Less System part # ASR35HDS02 the part # 8-201-9UC3-EZ is the recommended hub. The hub/drum you mentioned will not fit on this spindle. The only hubs that will fit the # ASR35HDS02 have 6 and 8 lug configurations. For brake assemblies then you'd want the part # 23-465 for the right hand side or part # 23-464 for the left hand side.

  • How Are Dexter Electric Trailer Brakes Activated
Yes, you do need a trailer brake controller in your tow vehicle to power electric trailer brakes like the Dexter Nev-R-Adjust Assembly # 23-464 that you referenced. This is what will connect to the brake circuit on the vehicle so that power is sent back to the trailer brakes in correspondence with the brake pedal. You will also need a 7-Way connector on the vehicle that hooks up to the trailer. If you can tell me what vehicle you have along with what it's already equipped with in terms...

  • How to Determine the Right Replacement Grease Seal for a Trailer
The seal needed is going to depend on the inner and outer bearing numbers stamped into the sides of the bearings. Or if you know the part number of the hub I could look it up to determine the correct seal. The grease seal though is meant to hold the grease in the hub and not let it leak out the back of the hub. If the drum is filling with grease then it is leaking out somewhere else. You will need to make sure that the correct bearings and races are being used. There are some measurements...

You might be able to use 7K brakes on your trailer provided that the drums used are large enough and that the mounting pattern for the brake assemblies matches the pattern on the brake mounting flanges on the axles. Brakes for 7K axles are going to be 12x2 inches and have a 5-bolt mounting pattern. You will likely find though that the brakes will be overly aggressive on lighter trailers.
