Hub-Piloted Wheel

This wheel is hub piloted, which means that it centers on the hub, not the lugs. The wheel requires the use of flange nuts (sold separately) for installation.

Corrosion-Resistant Finish

This steel wheel goes through a 3-step finishing process that makes it both attractive and corrosion resistant. The wheel is first submerged in a zinc phosphate bath to ensure good paint adhesion. It is then e-coated with an acrylic primer base and finished on both sides with baked-on DuPont powder paint.

Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

This has been an unfortunate on-line learning experience for me. I thought I had finally found a set of rims that fit my 1972 Ford F250. I entered my vehicle and read the line that stated...
Heavy-duty steel wheel with modular design is sturdy and corrosion resistant
Designed for use on trucks, buses, and trailers
Even though "use on trucks" is stated, these wheels are only approved for trailers. When I sought to return the wheels, I was surprised to learn that I would be out $[XX] for shipping on a $[XX] purchase. So even though etrailer is willing to refund the cost of the wheels, I will be out a couple of hundred dollars, with nothing to show.
Buyer beware! No more on-line orders for me. The risk is the worth the cost. That is what I have learned from this transaction.

Product is great, packaging could be better. Wheels arrived with scuffs and scrapes due to busting through boxes. Wheels had no protection on them from rolling around in a box that was 3x their size. If this was going on something other than a dump trailer that gets beaten up anyway, I would have complained more.

I have been looking for this odd ball tire rim since september 2000. Everywhere I called told me to call the salvage yards in a tri county area. No luck with that either. A friend recommended your company. Although it was not in stock at the time Teresa the sales rep told me to keep checking back. I called Thursday 12/02 and was told it was in. Teresa processed the order and followed up with an e-mail message telling me it was shipped. It came today. Can't be happier, now that it is here. Hats off to Teresa, Excellent customer service!!!

  • How to Determine the Wheel Size and Bolt Pattern for Replacement
To measure a wheel you will want to measure from bead seat to bead seat both for the diameter and for the width. If you check out the review video I attached of the Taskmaster Modular Wheel w/ +0.08 Offset # TA35ZR you can see out video team member measure the wheel starting at the 1:42 mark. This wheel has an 8 on 6-1/2 inch bolt pattern. I have attached some helpful articles on how to measure tires and wheels as well for you to check out. If you are looking for a replacement tire as...

  • Needing 17-1/2 x 6-3/4 Trailer Rims with 8 on 6-1/2 Bolt Pattern and 4.75 Inch Pilot Diameter
We offer 2 17-1/2 x 6-3/4 wheels that have an 8 on 6-1/2 bolt pattern and a 4.76 inch pilot diameter. I'll run through them below. • # AM22461 is a modular style wheel with a silver powder coat with a -0.5 offset • # TA35ZR is a modular silver powder coated wheel with a +.08 offset which would move the wheel inward by .08 of an inch toward the trailer frame. I've linked to product description videos that for the wheels mentioned above.

  • Upgrading Tire Capacity for 14000-lb Dump Trailer to Prevent Blowouts
You can potentially change wheel/tire size if you have the clearance but you can gain load capacity more easily by keeping your existing rims and switching to a Load Range G tire in your current size ST235/80-16. Westlake Load Range G radial tires # WE76FR have a 14-ply/4080-lb load rating per tire, compared to 3520-lbs for the E-rated tires you have now, so these will give you more safety margin and actually exceed the axle rating. This special trailer tire also has a tread wear indicator...

  • Are There Any 16 8-Bolt 5/8 Lug Trailer Wheels
The only non-dually trailer wheels we offer with an 8 on 6-1/2" pattern and 5/8" studs are 17-1/2", the Taskmaster Modular Wheel part # TA35ZR which is hub piloted. If you do wish to upgrade to larger wheels you'll need new tires as well. I have attached a link with our selection below.

The most popular wheel is the part # TA35ZR which is a white powder coated modular wheel that is 6-3/4 inches wide. I attached a review video for more info as well.

I have attached for you below a list of all our 17.5" x 6.75" trailer wheels with an 8 on 6-1/2" bolt pattern below. There are a few different types of wheels in this list such as aluminum/steel, dually/standard, and hub/lug centric. If you can let me know more of what you have/want I would be glad to offer a more specific recommendation for you. The Taskmaster Modular Wheel part # TA35ZR for example is a hub-piloted steel wheel with negative offset so it will push the tires out away from...

  • Can Dual Wheels On 10K Dexter Axles Be Changed Over To Super Single 17.5" Wheels and Tires?
I recommend going with a wheel like the Taskmaster Modular Wheel in White # TA36MR or Silver # TA35ZR. These wheels only have a 0.08" positive offset keeping the center of the Provider 235/75R17.5 Radial Trailer Tire # P35175 in line with the center position of your dual tires. This helps keep the trailer stable. Both wheels above are designed to fit with 5/8" studs and have a Flange Nuts # LI84FR to hold the wheel since it has a hub centric design. You will need to verify if you have the...

  • Maximum Tire Pressure of Taskmaster TA35ZR Steel Trailer Wheel
My Taskmaster representative tells me that the # TA35ZR wheel you referenced is rated for tires up to 125psi. I don't have a reference source that would tell me the OD of the hub on a Jayco RV, but the wheel has a pilot diameter of 4.76 inches. So, you could measure the diameter of the portion of the hub that sticks through the pilot opening of your wheels, and if the hub diameter is 4.76 inches or greater, these wheels would work fine for you.

A Dexter 8k hub would have an 8 on 6-1/2 inch bolt pattern like what the part # TA45ZR has. This is also a 17.5 inch diameter trailer wheel. For a mod style wheel instead, we have the part # TA35ZR.

  • Can Hub Studs be Changed from 9/16 to 5/8 to Use 17-1/2 Inch Wheels on a Horse Trailer
It might be possible to change out the studs in your hub from 9/16 to 5/8 if they are drive-in studs and not the type that threads in. If they are drive in and the diameter of the knurl end is approximately 0.6875 inches then you can replace them. We have a set of four 5/8 drive-in studs # RG03-120. I have linked a video review of them.

  • Why Do Trailer Hubs Have Different Size Studs
You are right that there are a few common stud sizes available on trailer hubs, and the difference has to do with what size wheels they are designed to work with. Larger studs are generally for larger/heavier wheels. You do need to ensure compatibility with a particular wheel when trying to match it up with a trailer hub The same wheel will not fit all possible stud sizes. The stud size doesn't affect the actual load rating on the trailer. For example, the Dexter 7,200-lb Hub and Drum...
