E-Z Lube-Compatible Hub for Simple Lubrication

The grease cap on this hub-and-drum assembly is specially designed to work with your Dexter E-Z Lube axle to make lubricating bearings quick and easy. Just remove the plug on the grease cap, attach a grease gun to the zerk fitting on the end of the spindle, and inject the grease. It will flow easily to both inner and outer bearings. Not only does this make lubricating the bearings easy, but it also helps to prevent corrosion of the hub. This is because you can lubricate the bearings without the mess of taking apart the entire assembly.

Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern Side

Measuring the distance (D) from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

Web site navigation was easy. Finding the product that i was looking for was a snap. All specs for the product were readily available. I experienced no problem with checkout. My order was quickly filled, shipped and I was notified by e-mail. Tracking app is the best that I have seen. My shipment moved much quicker than I would have expected. It was a very heavy package and it travelled from Wentzville MO to Myrtle Beach SC in 3 days! The only negative thing that happened was that the box was ruptured. It should have been packaged better considering the weight of the objects. Fortunately nothing was missing. I have a dozen utility trailer in my area and many other pull behind's, I will order what I need for repairs from etrailer.com THANKS!!

See what our Experts say about this Dexter Trailer Hubs and Drums

  • Does Wheel Stud Diameter Matter When Choosing Brake Drums for 7K Axle
Capacity wise, it doesn't really matter but you'll want to choose the wheel stud diameter than matches the lug holes in the wheels you're planning on using. As long as that matches up, you'll be good to go.

  • Can Taskmaster Modular Wheel TA35ZR be Mounted to a Dexter Hub with Flange Nuts
Yes, you could use flange nuts with wheel # TA35ZR but the hole size on this wheel is 5/8 and the hub and drum # 8-219-13UC3 has 9/16 inch studs. For a similar hub and drum with 5/8 inch studs you can use # 8-219-18UC3. It has the same bolt pattern and uses the same bearings and seal. It just has the 5/8 inch studs instead of 9/16.

  • Upgrading 6,000 lb Dexter Axles to 7,000 lb
There are a lot of great solutions to your problem, but to upgrade your trailer axles from 6,000 lbs to 7,000 lbs, you need to replace your axles entirely. Adding higher capacity hubs alone won't change the weight capacity of your axles. Note that even if you decide to upgrade your axles, you still might be limited by the weight capacity of your trailer frame or coupler as these could be rated less than your axle capacity. To upgrade your axles, I recommend a full kit that includes a 7,000...

The Dexter # 8-219-18UC3 7K trailer hub you mentioned includes cone style nuts like # 6-109, which help to center a lug centric wheel on the hub. The bearings, races, grease seals and grease caps are included as well.

  • Are Dexter Hubs Sold As A Single Hub Or In Pairs
The Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly - 7K lb E-Z Lube Axle - 12" - 8 on 6-1/2 - 5/8" Studs # 8-219-18UC3 will come as a single hub/drum. If you are looking to replace both on an axle, you will need to order two to complete it. However, these do come with all the bearings, seals, caps, and lug nuts needed, so other than grease, like the LubriMatic LMX Industrial Strength # L11390, there will be no other parts needed.

The Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly #8-219-18UC3 does appear to be the correct assembly for your Rockwell axle. Your spindle should have a grease seal diameter of 2.25", inner bearing diameter of 1.75" and outer bearing diameter of 1.25". I spoke with Dexter and confirmed the Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly part # 8-219-18UC3 has a 4.75" pilot and this does match that of the Taskmaster Solid Center Wheel part # TA45ZR. They also both use the same 8 on 6-1/2" bolt pattern with 5/8" studs so you are correct, they will indeed work with one another.

This will be compatible with 12 inch brake assemblies like # AKEBRK-7-SA which are compatible with your brake flange.
