Video Transcript for Redline Tires and Wheels 6-53 Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at the 9/16" by 18 Trailer Wheel Lug Nut. This lug nut is designed to fit 9/16" diameter wheel studs. It is a right hand normal thread design, 18 threads per inch. If you notice also, it has the 60 degree taper on it, and that's designed to fit the beveled opening of the lug hole on the wheels. Now, the head size on this, it is a 7/8" head so it will use a socket of 7/8", and you can see I have one, I happened to have a 7/8" socket here. See if it's right on the head of that.

The overall length of this lug nut from the top to the bottom is going to be right at 3/4". This part is for quality of one lug nut. That should do it for the review of the 9/16" by 18 Trailer Wheel Lug Nut.

The folks a trailer are the very best. Professional, friendly, and very knowledgeable. This product was just purchased to carry as a spare part for my fifth wheel trailer. Anything I have ordered from etrailer has always been of the best quality. Love their customer service.

by:

There was some damage from shipping but e trailer didn’t hesitate to get the replacement parts to us promptly. Everything went together easily and I was back on the road. Thank you for your excellent customer service and support.

by:

Need to ship in better packaging. Boxes came in with holes. Parts were missing.
Replacement parts were sent out but the job is now delayed waiting on the parts.

by:

Parts arrived on time via UPS. Took them right over to the machinist and within an hour was able to pick up my hub & drum. The machinist works at an auto parts store and the distributors for the store couldn't match the specs of the Dexter Wheel Lugs so had to special order these from etrailer. Got excellent service. Suggest you follow the instructions from Dexter for reassembly of the wheel and axle system.
I recommend you also order the end of spindle snap ring as well as the magnet clips for this job.

by:

Not sure if the problem lies with the studs i bought from etrailer or these lug nuts but the quality is poor. Thread engagement appears to have different pressure angles and they are not smooth and difficult to start.

  • Offset of Wheel/Tire Combo # AM34964 Does it Include Center Cap and Lug Nuts
The offset of a wheel refers to the distance between the mounting surface of the wheel that touches the hub and the center line of the wheel. A negative offset will move the tire away from the trailer, while a positive offset will move the tire closer to the trailer. The # AM34964 you referenced has an offset of negative 8 mm, which means the mounting surface is closer to the trailer. This means the center line of the wheel will be further from the trailer. You can see this more clearly...

  • Comparing Dexter Hub and Drum Assemblies 8-285-11 and 8-393-4UC3
You will experience some reduced braking power when using the Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly # 8-393-4UC3 with 12-1/4 x 2-1/2" brake assemblies compared to the # 8-285-11 with 12-1/4" x 3-3/8" brake assemblies. Between the two I recommend going with the # 8-285-11 along with bearings # 25580 and # 02475, grease seals # RG06-070, lug nuts # 6-53, and grease caps # rg04-120. For brakes I recommend the self adjusting braking assemblies # 23-434-435. Since you mentioned your axle does...

  • Recommended Disc Brake Kit With 9/16 Inch Studs For 7,000-Lb Axle
We do have a disc brake kit with 9/16-inch studs you asked about. I recommend the Kodiak Disc Brake Kit, part # K2HR79E. This kit has 13-inch hub/rotors and an 8 on 6-1/2 bolt pattern and is designed for 7,000 lb axles. The brake flange has a 5-bolt configuration. The inner and outer races are included but the bearings and seal are not so you will need part # BK3-200 that does include the bearings and seal. If you need new lug nuts for the brakes part # 6-53 is what you need. for a...

  • Availability of a 9/16 Inch Wheel Stud for Dexter Trailer Hubs
If the hubs have a screw in type wheel stud, you can use Trailer Hub Wheel Stud, # 25-11. These are 9/16 by 3 inches (total length). The threaded part for the lug nuts is 1-9/16 inches long which may not be enough for your new alloy wheels. It is a difference of 3/16 of an inch. This stud is the only 9/16 wheel stud we carry.

  • 3/4 Inch Tall Lug Nut for a 9/16 Inch Stud
I have a solution for you but we don't have a flange nut that is 3/4" tall. For a 3/4" tall lug nut that fits a 9/16" lug you will want the Redline Trailer Wheel Lug Nut item # 6-53. This is a grade 5 lug nut that is sold individually. It is made of zinc plated steel that resists rust and corrosion.

  • How To Determine What Lug Nuts Will Fit A 2019 Forest River Rockwood Geo Pro
There is no way we can tell you what lug locks would be used on your 2019 Geo Pro 15TB is. What you're going to need to do is measure the lug studs on the trailer when you pick up the trailer. The most common sizes are: 1/2"-20 short # 12CLN, 1/2"-20 long # 12CLN-L, 9/16"-18 # 6-53, and 5/8"-18 # X1148. • How To Determine The Correct Lug Nuts For Your Trailer's Wheels
There unfortunately isn't a guide to tell us the size needed for your specific trailer, but it's really easy to measure for the correct size lug nuts. You'll want to use a set of calipers # PTW80157 to measure the diameter of the wheel stud, including the threads and then measure the pitch by counting the threads in one inch of space on the stud. The most common sizes are 1/2"-20, 9/16"-18, and 5/8"-18. The 1/2"-20 wheel studs are typically used on small-medium duty trailers whereas the...
