Removable 2-Bike Add-On

Thule T2 Pro X ratcheting wheel hooks

The T2 Pro XTR carries 4 bikes, however the front 2 positions can be easily removed so there's less of a load on you and your vehicle if only 2 people are going riding. When it's not needed, simply remove the front section with the included Allen key and throw it in your trunk or leave it at home. To convert the rack to carry 2 bikes, simply remove the handle from the bike rack base, remove the add-on, then reinstall the handle.

Pivoting Arms with Ratcheting Hooks

Thule T2 Pro XTR ratcheting wheel hooks

Ratcheting hooks grab your bikes firmly by the front wheel, so it won't scratch or scuff the paint. To load a bike, simply place your front wheel in the cradle, rotate the arm up and over the wheel, and press down firmly on the ratcheting hook. To unload your bike, press the gray button on the upright arm to release the ratcheting hook, and slide the hook up.

Sliding Rear Wheel Cradles

Thule T2 Pro XTR sliding wheel trays

The wheel trays have cradles with ratcheting straps to secure your rear wheel to the rack. The cradles slide along the tray to accommodate bikes with a variety of wheelbases. To secure your wheel, run the strap over the rim and back down through the strap buckle and pull tight. To remove your bike, press the quick-release button on the buckle and undo the strap.

Front-Mounted Handle for Easy Tilting and Folding

Thule T2 Pro XTR folding and tiliting designThule T2 Pro XTR cable locks

The rack tilts down with your bikes loaded. So, whether you're at the trail or the grocery store, you don't have to remove your bikes to access your cargo area. It also folds up when not in use. This leaves a smaller footprint, so you can keep the rack on your vehicle to park in your garage. And if you want to remove it, it doesn't take up as much space to store it.

Thule T2 Pro XTR folding and tiliting design

To make tilting and folding easier, the T2 Pro XTR's release lever is mounted on the front of the rack. This means you won't have to reach through or around your bikes with one hand to reach the lever, while supporting the rack's weight with the other, when lowering the rack. Instead, you'll be able to hold the rack with both hands the entire time.

Tool-Free Installation with Anti-Rattle Device

Thule T2 Pro XTR cable locksThule T2 Pro XTR cable locks

The rack quickly installs in your hitch receiver, without the need for tools. Just slide the shank into your hitch and turn the knob until snug. Turning the knob deploys an anti-rattle wedge in the shank to help take play out of the hitch connection. It also sets the integrated SnugTite hitch pin into place, securing the rack to your receiver.

Thule T2 Pro XTR ratcheting wheel hooks

The T2 Pro XTR has built-in wheels that let you easily roll the rack so you don't have to lift it and carry it to your vehicle.

Complete Security

Thule Pro XTR loaded on vehicle

The T2 Pro XTR includes One-Key System locks to secure your bikes to the rack and the rack to your vehicle. Integrated cable locks thread around your bikes' frames and insert into the lock that slides along the cable. The cables store inside the arms when not in use.

Thule T2 Pro XTR loaded on vehicle

The lock on the hand knob secures the rack to your vehicle. Once locked, the hand knob will spin freely so a would-be thief can't operate it. The locks are keyed alike, so you only need to use 1 key. Additional One-Key System locks (sold separately) let you make all your Thule products keyed alike.

Fast delivery and great product! I would recommend that you look up videos on how to assemble. The instructions that come with it are basically useless. With the help of a friend assembly was easy. So far the rack has worked perfectly. It is large and heavy so it could require two people to put in on and take it off of the tow hitch. All in all I am very satisfied!

by:

Sturdy. Easy to put together. Second Thule rack and I trust it will secure my bikes.

by:

Vast improvement over the old Thule rack. The instructions could have been a little clearer for installing the locks. Better and clearer pictures needed. I’m happy to see lock tight is on the screws. I love the tilt and the built in Wheels that allow me to move the rack without picking it up and carrying it.

Great product, great company to do business with. etrailer is the best. Friendly, helpful and they made sure the bike rack was shipped immediately and it was delivered on time.

by:

The quality of the rack is very sturdy and well built. I needed a rack that has a 12” spacing between wheels do to the baskets on each bike, and this rack delivered that. The issues I have with this rack are: I have a GMC Yukon suv and with the rack mounted I have to lift my two Lecritc 2.0 e-bikes, at 60 pounds each up over 24” to get it mounted. It sure could use ramps, which I know it did not come with. The clamp hold down does not work with fenders on a bike. It does not clamp very well on the cross bar (male and female) type do to the width and the angle of the cross bars. When clamping in front of the front fender makes the bike very unstable, and will require additional strapping and tie downs to secure the bikes. It claims it is for e-bikes, but only if it has no fenders. Nice rack, just not for me.

by:

I had a great trunk rack. However, it would not hold an E bike due to the weight. This rack does a great job of holding my E bike. The rack also allows for me to get into my hatch where a trunk rack would not.

by:

Great product, well built. This is my third Thule bike carrier. Very straight forward directions and easy to assemble.

by:

I previously owned the Thule T2 classic hitch that was damaged in an accident. After researching a replacement, I found the reliability of Thule and significant advantage of being able to easily roll the XTR into the hitch with very little lifting effort. This is a major improvement considering the weight and unwieldy nature of the Classic version. The only negative as compared to the Classic version, is loss of the lockable wheel bars and the awkward short lockable cables on the XTR.
This is more than offset by the ease of mobilty and use of the XTR model.

by:

Service was ok. Regular website, email, tracking. But what I received was a disgrace. I thought I took advantage of a holiday sale, and what they sent me was what looks refurbished.

by:

I love this bike rack, was told it was extremely hard to get last summer with supply chain but etrailer had one and it got to us quickly. We have 2 pedal-assist e-bikes, one is quite heavy; no issues whatsoever with this rack, it is excellent. Highly recommend both the rack and etrailer.com

This bike rack is amazing! Only negative is that the included instructions for assembly are not great, but videos I found online helped with that. I can install this rack on my hitch and have bikes loaded up in just a few minutes, and it makes traveling with our bikes easy since we can still tilt it down to access the back hatch even with bikes attached. Best of all, this rack is INCREDIBLY sturdy. On vacation with two bikes in tow, I got a flat tire on my car and had my car towed to a dealership to get new tires. I had to have it towed on a flatbed because it was the only way to transport the bikes as the back of the car was full of luggage. When the tow truck started to pull my Highlander onto the bed, the angle of the car/flatbed was steep enough that the bottom of the bike rack (an angled piece of metal that hangs down where right where the rack attaches to the hitch) began scraping the ground. I was worried that the bike rack had been damaged, but it didn't even get scratched even though the metal of the rack scraped about a half inch off the surface of the asphalt!

  • Platform Bike Rack Recommendation for a 2010 Jeep Wrangler to Clear Rear Spare
The Thule T2 Pro XTR Bike Rack for 4 Bikes - 2" Hitches - Wheel Mount # TH69TX would not fit on your 2010 Jeep Wrangler, it would clear the spare tire because it has a distance of only 7 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the nearest bike rack. Instead, I have a couple of recommendations for you: If you prefer a frame mounted rack, you could go with the Saris Freedom Bike Rack for 4 Bikes - 2" Hitches - Frame Mount - Tilting # SA4414B. • Bike Nearly Came Off of Thule T2 Pro XTR Bike Rack Twice
When you say "Bike started to come off the back of the trailer" does that mean that you are using the T2 Pro XTR # TH69TX on the back of a trailer? If so then that could be the problem. The issue is that there is significantly more movement and bouncing at the back of a trailer compared to the back of a passenger vehicle. Because of this not all bike racks can be used at the back of a trailer or RV. The T2 Classic is not rated for this application so that significant movement could be what...

  • Can Rear Hatch Be Opened on 2014 Jeep Cherokee with Thule T2 Loaded and Tilted Down
We have not tested the T2 # TH69TX on a 2014 Jeep Cherokee yet but based on the location of the trailer hitches that we have installed relative to the rear bumper I am very confident that you will be able to open the rear hatch with little to no interference with the T2 loaded and tilted down. You would want to have the most narrow bike closest to the vehicle to maximize the potential for opening the rear hatch.

  • Ground Clearance on the Thule T2 Trailer Hitch Mount Bike Rack on a 2011 Subaru Outback Wagon
Because of the way the Thule T2, # TH9044-TH9046, is designed, there is actually a rise of 4-3/4 inches from the top of the receiver opening on the trailer hitch to the bottom of the nearest platform. The rack angles up even more towards the back and the bottom of the furthest end from the receiver is 3/4 inches higher. The ground clearance at the furthest point is 14 inches. This is above the hitch on your vehicle. Based on this rise you will not have to worry too much about ground clearance...

  • Recommending a Four-Bike Rack to Accommodate Bikes with Fenders
To accommodate a carbon fiber frame and a vintage-style frame with fenders, the best option would be a wheel-only mount bike rack. A rack which grasps your bikes by the wheels will remove the need for an adapter bar for the women's vintage-style frame while keeping the carbon frame untouched. A platform-style rack may not work as well with bikes that have front fenders, so we have a problem. We must use a wheel mount to protect the frame and the wheel mount interferes with the front...

  • How to Determine if Thule T2 Classic Will Fold Up and Not Hit Bumper
To determine if the Thule T2 Pro XTR part # TH69TX is going to fit your 2017 Jeep Cherokee and allow it to fold up without bumper interference will require you to measure from the center of the hitch pin hole out to the furthest point out on the rear bumper. If that dimension is less than 5 inches this rack would easily fold up and clear the bumper. The SnugTite hitch pin will remove the movement in the hitch so that it doesn't rattle while travelling folded up or down.
