Rotating Arms with Ratcheting Hooks

Kuat Transfer V2 ratcheting hooks

The Transfer V2 has ratcheting hooks that grab your bikes firmly by the front wheel - not the frame. It's perfect for carrying carbon bikes or bikes with a custom paint job. To load a bike, simply place your front wheel in the cradle, rotate the arm up and over the wheel, and press down firmly on the ratcheting hook.

Front-Wheel Cradles with Adjustable Pitch

Kuat Transfer V2 front wheel cradles

In its upright position the front cradles sit at the optimal position for holding normal-size bikes. However, you can adjust the cradles so that smaller bikes sit more toward the center of the rack or to prevent bikes from bumping into each other. To adjust the pitch, use the included Allen key to flip the bolt locator tabs upside down.

Pivoting Rear-Wheel Cradles

Kuat Transfer V2 rear wheel cradle

The rear wheel cradles accommodate a wide variety of bike wheelbases. They pivot front to back, adjusting automatically to each bike's wheelbase - no need for sliding and tightening. Secure the wheels in place with the built-in ratcheting strap. Strap extenders (sold separately) let you carry fat bikes.

U-Shape Frame

Kuat Transfer V2 U-shape base

Most platform-style racks force you to reach out and over the rack to load your bikes or walk around to the back of the rack to access the bike closest to your vehicle. The U-shaped frame allows you to walk inside the rack and get close to your bikes to lift them. Also, it won't block your backup camera when it's folded up.

Foot Lever for Easy Tilting and Folding

Kuat Transfer V2 foot lever

The spring-loaded foot lever is easily accessible even with your bikes loaded. No more crawling through your bikes or squeezing between the rack and the vehicle to hit the tilt release lever.

Kuat Transfer V2 tilting rackKuat Transfer V2 folding rack

The foot lever lets you tilt the rack down with bikes loaded for cargo area access. It leaves both hands free so that you can lower the rack in a controlled manner. When the rack is unloaded you can fold it up for storage.

Easy Installation

Kuat Transfer V2 complete security

The rack is easy to install. Just slide the shank into your hitch and use the included 8-mm Allen wrench to tighten the flatlock cam. An anti-rattle wedge is deployed inside the shank to help take play out of the hitch connection.

Complete Security for Bikes and Rack

Kuat Transfer V2 indentation

The Allen wrench has an indentation, so it can only be used with the Transfer. This helps keep the rack secure on your vehicle. You'll need to store it in a safe place because you'll need it when you want to remove the rack. You can also use a locking hitch pin (sold separately) for extra rack security.

Kuat Transfer V2 integrated cable lock

The Transfer also includes a cable lock that secures your bikes to the rack. The 1/4" thick, braided steel cable threads through your bike's frames, and locks back into the rack.

This rack came very well packaged with easy instructions to follow. It took about 1 hour to put it together. It is a very high quality product. We have it on our Subaru Crosstrek and it doesn't interfere with opening the back hatch when the rack is in the down position. The bikes are a breeze to load and unload. I highly recommend this bike rack.

A year later and our bike rack is working out as great as the first day we used it. I highly recommend it!

by:

Quality product, great design, easy to use, no problem securing three mountain bikes. Would definitely recommend!

Also worth mentioning, I accidentally lost the security allen key that comes with the product and Kuat customer service sent me a replacement free of charge.

by:

Received in a wel packaged box yesterday afternoon and quickly assembled following excellent step by step instructions. Rack to be mounted to my truck 2 inch hitch later this afternoon, then will size each of the three bikes on each platform. Want to thank e- trailer from order to delivery, great support. Next step based on excellent recommendation from Kyle S back on 18 Feb is to add a swing out capability with the Yakima back swing swing away hitch extender later this Fall, one step at a time. More to follow, Thanks!

I purchased the Kuat Transfer V2 after trying and returning the less expensive and frustrating Thule Apex XT 4 which would have needed the additional cross supports to properly transport the three hardtail mountain bikes we own. After about 40 minutes of assembly of the V2 with a good set of instructions, I was able to install the rack on the back of our vehicle quickly and get the bikes loaded in no time. Bike loading with the split mast design was easy and I was able to reach the foot pivot to lower the rack for access into the rear of the vehicle with the bikes loaded easily. The bikes sat in the support cradles securely and the handlebars did not interfere with each other. The rear tire ratchet straps were easy to secure and did not interfere with the wheel cradles while loading the bikes which I liked. The bike lock is easy to access and the cable secured to the rack easily. Overall I’m very pleased with the purchase and glad I sprung a bit more for a platform rack.

by:

Very quick and easy install, bikes are mounted easily. The design makes it a little difficult to get to the release and fold up when not in use, otherwise a great product. Would definitely recommend

by:

Driven over 3,000 miles with these. The product performs without flaws. I never think about me bikes anymore and used to have to get out and adjust them on the rack every hour.

It’s not possible to be happier, and more pleased with the product than I am with my Kuat bike racks. This rack will give you great versatility. We are a family of mountain bikers and when the kids come to town, I can put two bikes in the rear of a small SUV and four bikes on the carrier and drive two or three hours to a family favorite trail, and never worry that the bikes aren’t secure. Loading and unloading are simple, quick and easy. I wish every product I bought performed as well as this one.

by:

etrailer was prompt with shipping and the rack was as expected. Assembly was moderately challenging, the directions were somewhat less good than what IKEA provides. But all good in the end, it works just fine. Thanks!

by:

Easy to install on the car and excellent handling as we drive down the road. Easy to load and unload the bikes. Everything we could have expected and more.

by:

This bike rack was exactly what I wanted in a trailer bike rack: sturdiness, ease of use, and a rack that keeps each bike (3 on this rack) separate and secure.

After a year, the Kuat 3-bike carrier is still reliable and easy to use. I really enjoy the way the rack keeps the bikes from swinging or touching, thus preventing any impact damage.

by:

Ordering from etrailer is always a great experience. From researching a product before purchase, asking questions to etrailer team before purchase. Ordering, tracking package delivery, to the install videos, and follow up by etrailer team. What a great process. The Kuat Transfer v2 3 bike rack is very solid and nice looking rack. Even fits a kids 16 inch wheel bike. Very pleased with this purchase.

Still love this rack after a year of use. Very sturdy. Love the walk through feature that makes it easier to put the front bikes on without having to stretch your back. Highly recommended.

by:

Great bike rack. A year in and it has gone North to Vermont and South to Virginia. No complaints aside from its weight. In my mind the weight is necessary to be as secure as it is and hold the potential weight of multiple bikes, luckily I am fit enough to work with the weight. Otherwise it’s a great bike rack.

by:

Very easy to use!

by:

This is an excellent product. Value galore and will last a lifetime considering how beefy it is.

by:

quick service and turnaround

by:

Works well does not get in the way of my rear camera.

by:

Easy to put together and install on to the vehicle
Able to maneuver around and mount the bikes on it with no issues whatsoever. We are using it for 35inch tire electric bikes and they fit just fine. Haven't driven anywhere with it yet, so can't review that at the moment!

by:

This carrier is really well made. It's heavy and heavy duty. Handles our three mountain bikes with no trouble at all. Two things that could be improved, the hooks don't slide easily into place unless the thumb release is pressed. Maybe that's intentional, but it's annoying.

Secondly, the foot release is hard to reach with the bikes loaded. I've seen other brands that have a longer peddle which would be helpful.

One important thing to understand, there's an allen key included for locking the carrier into the hitch receiver. This needs to be tight in order to 1. keep the rack from wobbling side-to-side and 2. to keep the carrier from being removed (and stolen).

by:

A little heavy and feels a little over built for the type of bikes we have but once is on and the bikes are loaded, this works like a dream!

David

Really love this hitch! Keeps our bikes safely secure. Works great for our simple hybrid bikes, would also work for larger mountain bikes. Love that you can tilt the bikes down. We cant fully open the back door of our 2012 Subaru Forester, but it opens enough to be able to access things in the back of the car.

by:

I've had good luck with this rack. I still think it's a little harder to put bikes on than the 1Up style racks, but it's been secure, the stability is good, it's nice to be able to carry three bikes, and it folds up nice.

by:

This is my second order from etrailer and they are top of the line professional. Everything from communication to prompt shipping. I received my order as described on time and in good working order.

The Kuat transfer 2 bike carrier is an excellent choice at this price point. Takes some easy assembly, works great. You can tell Kuat takes pride in their craftsmanship. Well made product. I’m looking forward to putting it to good use and hoping it holds up to its promising outlook

by:

Very solid rack; my only complaint is that the locking cable is too short when all three bike slots are in use. I had to buy a padlock and 4 ft extension cable to secure the bikes to the rack. Also does not come with a locking bolt, although there is a different type of locking nut which seems secure enough when properly tightened.

by:

Customer service from etrailer and Kuat was excellent. Took me a little bit of time to put together, especially sliding the forks on (they are also a little squeaky a few months in). But for the price, I do think this was the best option for me. Getting bikes on/off is a breeze!

by:

Excellent product. It requires some assembly but it's not hard. The rack is sturdy, doesn't flex or away. I extremely like the foot pedal design compare to others that requires messing with pins and nobs to fold up and down. The fact that the center is wide open makes it very easy to load the bikes up and easily manuverable when inserting the hitch as I can stand inside the rack close to the hitch.

All in all I am extremely happy with the purchase. Thanks Kaut for such a thoughtful product and etrailer for carrying it with a fair price.

by:

Great value for money. Lighter than many other options makes it much easier to take on an off. I added the 1 bike add on and it works well as a 4 bike rack

  • Fit of Kuat Transfer 3 Bike Rack # TS03G on 2005 Lexus RX 330
In order for the Kuat # KU24FR Transfer bike rack to work well on your 2005 Lexus RX 330, your hitch can be recessed under the vehicle by more than 4 inches or so. You can easily take a quick measurement (see liniked FAQ article) to see how to do this. If the hitch pin hole to furthest rearward point of the back bumper is less than 5 inches, the rack will work perfectly on your RX330. This rack is compatible with Class II and III hitches only.

  • 3 Bike Rack Recommendation for Front Hitch on Truck
For the front of a vehicle I'd think a platform bike rack would be the best option. You'll get a very secure rack for the bike to attach to. And in the unlikely event of a clearance issue the bike rack would drag before the bikes would. Also a platform rack might be easier to see through over a hanging rack which will have an upright mast. Platform bike also holds all the bikes at the same height. The Kuat Transfer # KU24FR is a great option for a 3 bike platform rack. It only grabs the...

For what you are looking for I believe your best option would be the Kuat Transfer 3 part # KU24FR. This is a 3 bike rack that is easy to load, is priced really well for how nice of a rack it is, and for a platform bike that carries more than 2 bikes is pretty light at 51 lbs. Most platform racks are really heavy which is their biggest drawback. Since it is a platform bike rack it will be very easy to load. • Could Kuat Transfer 3 Bike Rack Allow Tailgate of 2015 Toyota Tundra to Fold Down
On the Kuat Transfer 3 bike rack part # KU24FR the tallest portion of it would be 10-1/2 inches above the top of your hitch opening so you can measure to see if it would allow the tailgate to fold down or not. Due to the much taller wheel cradles of the MonoRail bike racks I do not believe this would allow the clearance you are looking for.

  • What Would Cause Kuat Transfer Bike Rack to Fit Tightly in Hitch of 2005 Honda Pilot
The Kuat Transfer part # KU24FR does not have a reputation for fitting tightly to hitch tubes. Most likely the hitch of your 2005 Honda Pilot has rust or debris in it which is causing the clearances to fit too tightly. Due to the age of your Pilot that is most likely the case. I'd recommend cleaning it out as much as possible to see if you can get the rack to fit better.
