Haven't used it yet. I bought it because of CURT's quality. It was beat up in shipping though.

Its doing the JOB.

by:

This 13" drawbar keeps the tailgate off the trailer jack.
Being that long also keeps it I storage immediately after I disconnect the trailer.
No need for a locking pin.

by:

These are perfect for newer trucks with taller tailgates

by:

Exactly what I needed to extend the reach of the ball beyond my rear tire carrier WITHOUT losing any tongue weight capacity! I used mine for the 2" rise.

by:

Not usually a fan of any extra length between the truck and trailer, I opted for this extended ball mount so I could drop the tailgate without hitting the trailer jack. This did the trick. But this not a mount you should leave on your truck after detaching the trailer! Ouch!

by:

Exactly what I needed to move trailer away from spare tire

by:

The ball mount is not welded square to the tube
This is the second one sent took 4 months to get a refund on the first one.
The first one lasted one long trip before bending
Quality control is lacking on this product line.

by:

Each item was as described and installation a snap. Light are at least twice as bright as originals. The right-angle wiring pigtail made the project much easier.

Really appreciate the extensive information on each product and the follow up is a nice touch.

by:

Measured the drop to keep the trailer horizontal, and length for tailgate clearance. This hitch works great!

by:

It's perfect for my Jeep Wrangler it gets the ball past the spare tire.

by:

Product is per specs. Attached is why I needed and how it helped me attach the mud flaps and still be able to plug in my 7 pin. I was really happy that I didn’t have to pay two day shipping, and it still arrived in that amount of time just like it said it would.

by:

Great product and excellent service with on time delivery!

by:

Great product, they were very quick filling my order. Everyone kept me informed how the order was processing and the delivery date.

by:

For a 7,500 lb hitch, I was surprised it didn’t have a wedge support welded on where the flat iron is welded to the square tube.

by:

Quality mount. I needed a longer mount for my golf cart and this will work great.

by:

I have traveled across the US towing an overloaded Uhaul 12' trailer.
The trailer was still behind me when I arrived, so the hitch functioned as promised.
I did not, however, require the extra long hitch as suggested for my particular vehicle, but it will serve as an extra. Unnecessary purchase.

My son has since purchased a hitch from etrailer for his new Ford Edge.
We're both happy - very robust and well engineered product(s)

Excellent. Now mostly serves as an intimidation factor for those who would tailgate me...

by:

Product is exactly what was expected. But what is really 5-Star is this company's actions after the order is submitted. The website allows the customer to follow the timeline of the item from the order being placed to being pulled to being shipped to having a tracking number.... and in an extremely quick manner! Will shop here again.

by:

I needed a hitch with a long shank because of my spare tire being mounted on the back of my Jeep. This one does the trick!

Works as intended. Very pleased.

by:

I got everything on time and it’s working good and also high quality

by:

The etrailer Curt Hidden Hitch was almost $200 less expensive than the suburu dealer, without installation. Thank you etrailer your suburu install video was fantastic. Very apprehensive about removing the entire rear bumper panel on my new outback; but had my laptop open in the back of the suv,and installed like clockwork. Hidden hitch has no unsightly drop bars hanging
Below the bumper. Unbelievable price, looks and
Tows great, and saved well over $350 installing
Myself. Suby looks great, and friends are amazed I
would tackle this job myself...This is my 2nd hitch
from etrailer, and I like the efficiency, and detail of your website. HATS OFF to you etrailer. Satisfied customer...

by:

Works great on my lifted jeep, with a s pare!

by:

Excellent product and service.
Bought
this long heavy duty ball mount so I can open my tail gate with a trailer still hitched up.
All the online measurements and information made it much easier to choose the correct mount.
Works great!

by:

Works exactly as expected! My Subaru Outback bumper did not allow for a "normal" length drawbar, so this longer one was the only way I could tow anything.

Shirley

Still works great a year later!

by:

Great product! I’ve had mine for about a year and I use it to pull my 3800 lb bass boat all over Michigan. I actually had to buy this extended hitch, because all the gm products have the hitches tucked further under the bumper. Which when I use my mudflaps that hook onto the hitch, they would always hit the bumper. Great product.

by:

Excellent service from etrailer! Required an extended hitch so I could open the truck tailgate with the trailer attached and has done the job it was purchased for. The finish looks as new as it did when I bought it a year ago.

  • Shank Length of Curt C45311 Class III Ball Mount
The distance from the center of the hitch pin hole to the gusset welded onto the Curt # C45311 is 4 inches, as shown in the provided photo. If you're wanting something with a longer shank for additional clearance, I'd recommend the Curt # C45270 which would offer a similar rise/drop but with a shank that's 8 inches long, measured from the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest part of the ball platform. The ball mount is rated for 7500 lbs. I've also provide a photo of this ball...

From the center of the tube to the furthest part of the motor housing on the Stromberg Carlson Electric Trailer Jack item # JET-5000 measures right at 5-3/4". The distance from the mounting bracket to the top of the jack is 23". This jack would clear a tailgate if the measured distance from the back of the tailgate to the jack mounting point on the trailer was 24", which gives 1" of clearance. It can not be mounted at 90 degrees. No electric jack like this can. If you are worried about...

  • Bike Rack for Use with 2015 F-150 Towing Tear Drop Travel Trailer
A towing-style bike rack like the Swagman Traveler XCS # S64664 slips over your ball mount and sits between the truck bumper and the nose of the trailer. A rack like this is suitable as long as you have plenty of turning clearance between the vehicle and trailer. The width of your bikes come into play here too. Sometimes an extra-long ball mount like # C45270 will be needed to provide enough clearance for turns. There are other options for bike transport that might be better. If you have...

In order to use a trunk mount bike rack like the Yakima FullBack 3 Bike Rack part # Y02633 on your 2013 Acura MDX while also towing a trailer you would indeed need to extend the connection point in order to prevent any turning clearance issues. For this, a ball mount with extended shank will do the job just fine. I recommend the Curt Class III Drawbar part # C45270 but if you can provide me with your exact rise/drop needs I may have a better option for you. There would likely be turning...

  • Needing Long Ball Mount With 4 or 5 Inch Drop
Although we don't have a 15-3/4 inch long ball mount with a 4-5 inch drop, we can get you pretty close to that. The Curt # C45270 measures 13 inches in length measured from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the hole where the trailer ball installs. This is the longest ball mount we offer with the type of drop you're needing. The ball mount has a 7500 lb towing/750 lb tongue weight capacity and a 4-inch drop, For a 1-7/8 trailer ball, use # 40038 or # 63845 for a 2-inch ball.

  • Trailer Hitch Extended Ball Mount For F-250 Towing Lance Camper With 24-Inch Overhang
The problem with using an extension on a trailer hitch is that adapters will reduce the towing and tongue weight capacity of the trailer hitch by 50 percent. You can find ball mounts that are extended and do not reduce the capacity. We do offer extended ball mounts like part # C45270 that I recommend, and may work for you. This ball mount has a 2-inch rise or a 4-inch drop and measures 13-inches center of hitch pin hole to center of hitch ball hole. This ball mount has a 7,500-lb capacity....

  • How Much Rise Does Curt Rockerball Give Ball Mount
The Curt Rockerballs like the part # C94CR add 1-1/2 inches of height compared to a standard ball so if you used this with a ball mount that has 2 inches of rise like the # C45270 that you referenced you'd effectively have a 3-1/2 inch rise. So for the amount of rise that you want your best option would be the part # C40047 for a Rockerball since it has a 1 inch shank diameter and then the Brophy ball mount # BM20 which has a rise of 3/4 inches. Remember that there is a light on the jack that will also no longer shine in the correct direction. With that being said, I believe that Navigators all came with a factory trailer hitch receiver with a 2 inch opening. The reason some ball mounts have different lengths is simply to allow for more clearance between the tow vehicle and trailer. Something like the Curt # C45270, which is 13" long may allow that while Curt # C45010, which is 8-1/4" long, may not. I've added a link to each of our ball mounts for you to take a look at.
