Video Transcript for Pollak Wiring PK11771 Review

Today we're going to be reviewing part #PK11771. This is the Pollak bracket for single pole trailer wiring socket, part #PK11851. This socket bracket is going to provide an easy mounting option for your single pole connector socket. The bracket includes a machined large hole right here for the socket to fit in. It's also going to have many other machine holes that are going to allow the bracket to attach to your vehicle frame, and they are going to assist in mounting the socket to the actual bracket. Now it's going to work with a variety of Pollack sockets such as part #PK11404, PK11609, PK11720, PK12720 and PK12801.

This is made from a nice steel construction so it's strong and durable. The diameter of this large hole here in the center take a measurement of that real quick. That's going to give us a measurement of 2 inches. The smaller holes here are going to have a diameter of 1/4 inch. These holes right here are going to give us a measurement of 5/8 inch x looks to be about 5/16 of an inch. So these are going to measure 5/8 x 5/16 and then the measurement that we have center-on-center the distance between those 2 holes is going to measure 2-1/4 of an inch.

Taking a measurement of the overall width is going to be about 3-5/8 of an inch. Then measuring in this direction, it looks like it's going to be around 3 inches. That's going to do it for our review of part #PK11771. This is the Pollak bracket for the single pole trailer wiring socket part #PK11851 but it also works with a variety of other Pollak sockets as well. .

Had everything I needed to wire my Jeep Grand Cherokee. YouTube videos exist to help. There some surprisingly difficult places to route the wires along the frame.

by:

While the product is of good quality, it has one flaw. There is not sufficient space between the opening for the connector and the top where it needs to fasten to the vehicle. It might be suitable for some small connectors, but it is definitely not suited for ones like the Buyer's Products 2-Way Die-Cast Zinc Trailer Connnector - Truck Side - Vertical Pin Arrangement. I had purchased it because I did not see any other mounting brackets. I am in the process of making a spacer to provide more room at the top for the connector's door to open.

Other than that, it looks great and should hold up well. Just be aware of the limited room at the top.

Will not work with Pollak 5-Pole, Round Pin Trailer Wiring Socket, Concealed Terminals - Chrome - Vehicle End

I had trouble determining from the website if this bracket fit my socket. It does. It's a universal, I reall. I still had a bit of trouble associating it with my socket. I received it today and pleased I bought it.

my name is scott from tn. i bought 3 sets of the pollak #11-402ep 4-way sockets.and.the 11-402-ep 4-way or 4 wire plugs with the pollak brackets for single pole trailer wiring socket (pk11851)-pk11771 part number .to get rid of three bad problems. one was the flat wire on my 18.5 ft bass boat. the factory wire was 20 inchs short so i had to find my extending that was always lost. by my friends and ect. i also bouht 14 foot of wire and the it took my abought 10 mins. to complemt.plus my trailers. the pollak brackets was so easy to mount to my ford truck bumper.and my other veh. plus the sockets and plugs. no problem looking for xts, and no wire coming unhook.the dielectric silicone compound made all joints waterproof and a good seal and many thanks to the workers at e trailer if you have a problem with trailer connects or need supply. it took less than 4 bussiness days to get my order. and thank you for the supplies.!!!!!! sorry for no pictures because their always being used.

A handy bracket that is still in-use, though I wish it was a bit more rigid or made from heavier gauge steel, as it tends to bend a bit too easily.

by:

Bracket was excellent quality and came quicker than expected. Item was exactly as described. It was packaged and shipped well. trailer.com worked their magic with shipping of this item. Great customer service!

by:

This works but I wish it were just a little bit stiffer at the bend. I shove a 7 pin plug into it and it requires a little finesse. If the plug isn't perfectly aligned and you attempt to push the plug in then the bracket will tend to deflect a little bit. But it still works and nothing is wrong with it - so it's a "keeper".

by:

Functions as advertised. Nothing more to say. I always appreciate the speedy service and delivery. Your products are top notch and prices reasonable.

by:

I just got home and my 4 mounting brackets were delivered on schedule. Now I can put my project together. Have been looking all over for these brackets, so glad that I found them on your website. Thanks for keeping me posted on my shipment and look forward to ordering other stuff from you.

good service

by:

These guys rock. We needed a 2 pin trailer connector with bracket asap. etrailer had the items in stock and got it shipped to me in record time. Thanks again!!!

by:

Arrived on time, was able to track it while in shipment

by:

Connector fits but not a perfect fit and leaves the back exposed to wheel splash. Need to coat the back of the connector with RTV. Still works good and beats trying to make one.

by:

This stamped steel mounting bracket is very heavy duty. It fits the connector perfectly and has flexibility in mounting to the vehicle.

by:

High quality part that fit my needs perfectly. Shipped in a timely manner. Would purchase from E Trailer in future. Great place to do business.

by:

This bracket is amazing. It gets along with the plug and the bumper. The wind doesn't bother it and it doesn't complain about rain. Do not hesitate to hire his brother. You won't be disappointed...

by:

Have not used it but it looks like it will work to mount my 7 way pin plug on my truck.

by:

Easy to install, used the same holes that held 4 pin plug!

by:

Easy installation and the advice I received from Adam was spot on.

by:

The product arrived in a reasonable amount of time.
Also the item is as described.
Thank You.

  • What Gauge Wire Should be Used with Vehicle Side 2-Pole Socket Connector # PK12801
The 2-Pole Socket Connector - Vehicle Side, # PK12801, will accept 4 or 6 gauge wire so it should be no problem for your application. If you also need a mounting bracket, use # PK11771. For the matching trailer end connector, if needed, use # PK12800.

The 2-Pole Socket Connector - Vehicle Side, # PK12801, is housed in its own mounting bracket it you need to mount it flush against a surface. But, if a bracket is needed, you can use Pollak Bracket, # PK11771. I went out to the warehouse and pulled both parts and the mounting holes line up and the connector fits in the bracket opening. For a magnetic light kit I recommend # RM-2120 as a good all around option. It, like most others, has a 4-Way flat connector. That will have to be cut off and a 6-Way vehicle end, # PK11609, and bracket # PK11771, will need to be used instead. The wiring functions are white for ground, brown for running lights, yellow for left turn/brake lights, and green for right turn/brake lights. Though replacing the plug on your trailer with something like the Hopkins 7-Way RV Style Connector with Molded Cable - Trailer End - 8' Long - RV Standard # H20046 will be my recommendation, if you wanted to keep your current 7 Pin on the trailer, the following can be used to adapt it. The Hopkins # H20046 will still be used, but it would be wired into the Pollak Bracket for Single-Pole Trailer Wiring Socket # PK11720. The 7-Pole Rubber Socket Boot # PK11761 would then keep the connections...

When mounted in the Pollak Bracket for Single-Pole Trailer Wiring Socket # PK11771, the Pollak Heavy-Duty, 7-Pole, Round Pin Trailer Wiring Socket - Vehicle End # PK11720 should be 1-13/16" above an overhead surface to fully open. That's with no clearance above the connector whatsoever though, so you may want to be sure you have at least 2 inches just to be safe. • Installation Location of PK11609 For Flat Towing Wires on 2021 GMC Sierra 1500
I recommend using the installation bracket # PK11771 to install the # PK11609, but the location where you install it really doesn't matter as long as it's on the bottom half of the front end on your 2021 GMC Sierra 1500. I recommend going down to the area near where your base plates are mounted as there will likely be part of the frame you can use to screw the bracket into; you could also attach the bracket to the fascia and it would also be secure.

  • Using a 7-blade RV Connection To Power a Trailer Mounted Winch
I would not try wiring a winch through a standard 7-way connector. Winches draw much more amperage than the wiring that can be installed in a 7-way trailer connector can handle. The best solution would be to use a winch wiring kit like the Winch Trailer Wiring Kit, item # BDW20043. This kit includes everything needed to install a connector at the rear of the vehicle and at the front of the trailer, for powering a winch. The connector and socket have a chrome-plated finish for corrosion resistance. I have attached a photo showing the typical wiring set up for 4-pole round trailer connectors. This should help when you are wiring the connectors to your trailer and vehicle.
