Dexter Accessories and Parts - T2385200

  • Trailer Brakes
  • Hydraulic Drum Brakes
  • Breakaway Kit
  • Parking Brake
  • Dexter

Manual parking brake kit works with hydraulic drum brakes that have a parking brake linkage already installed. Doubles as an emergency mechanical breakaway system.

Features:

  • Manual parking brake is convenient and easy to use
    • Lever mounts to trailer tongue for simple access
  • Backup breakaway system ensures that trailer stops in event of separation from tow vehicle
  • Kit includes:
    • Brake lever with spacer
    • Front and rear cables
    • Mechanical breakaway chain
    • Spring, clamps, S-hooks, washers and nuts for installation
  • Hydraulic drum brake assemblies require parking brake linkage to work with kit

Specs:

  • Cable length: 183"
  • 1-Year warranty

To install, the parking break cable is fed through the brake's backing plate and attached to the park linkage. If breakaway occurs, the mechanical breakaway system will pull the lever that is mounted on the tongue to the "on" position. The rear cable then tugs at the park linkage inside the brake to activate it.

The product is fine it’s etrailer that has issues.
Packaging is horrible. Product arrived in its OEM box that has holes on each end to act as grab handles. Obviously to most this would be a problem especially since the parts were loosely thrown into the box. Also only one piece of packaging tape was used that was not functioning when the package arrived.
Now I have to take more time to identify which parts are missing.

  • Brake And Hub/Drum Assemblies For The Timbren Axle-less Trailer Suspension # TASR35HDS06
The Dexter Electric Trailer Brake Kit w/ Parking Brakes # 23-112-113 would be a fit for the 5-bolt pattern of the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension # TASR35HDS06 . Both the Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly # 8-201-9UC3-EZ and etrailer Easy Grease Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly # AKHD-655-6-EZ-K use the same bearing and sizes but only the etrailer # AKHD-655-6-EZ-K has the correct size grease seal. For parking brakes we really don't have much of a selection besides the Dexter Breakaway...

  • Troubleshooting Shoes On Dexter Brake # K23-103-00 Wearing Unevenly When Used as Parking Brake Only
The only thing I can come up with is you have a combination of issues contributing to the issue. The first being the Dexter Breakaway and Parking Kit # T2385200 is not fully releasing the brake on the left hand side. This would also need the adjuster/internal components in the brake assembly to be out of adjustment for only one pad to wear on the Brake Assembly # K23-103-00. The only other thing that comes to mind is if the springs which hold the secondary shoe are damaged and not returning...

  • Recommendations for ATV Search & Rescue Carrier
We unfortunately don't carry hubs compatible with the 4/110 bolt pattern as that is not standard for any trailers. My recommendation is to use the Timbren Heavy-Duty Axle-Less Trailer Suspension - Straight Spindle - Wide Tires - 1,200 lbs # ASR1200S03. This will give you the independent suspension and allow you to dictate the width of the unit for your precise desires versus having a standard axle length. This does require a 2 inch square bar unless there is a cross brace in the location...

  • Can The Handle Of The Titan Breakaway Parking Kit Be Installed on the Side Of Shorter Trailer Tongue
I contacted Titan and you can install the lever of the Titan Breakaway and Parking Kit for Drum Brakes part # T2385200 to the side of the tongue as long as you keep the cables straight to be able to activate the breakaway if the trailer disconnects. The bracket for the lever (that part that attaches to the trailer tongue) is about 10" long. You do want to be sure your braking assemblies are equipped to add a parking kit. If you take a look at the backing plate of your assemblies there...

  • Availability of Handbrake to Use with Dexter Hydraulic Brake Kit w/Hand Brake
Yes, for our brake assemblies that have parking brake capabilities like the Dexter Hydraulic Brake Kit w/ Parking Brakes - Uni-Servo # T2351300-200 that you referenced we do have hand brake levers to activate them with the part # T2385200. This comes with cable too that measures 183 inches in length.

  • Adding Brakes vs. Replacing Axle on M105 Trailer
Dexter left and right 12 x 2 electric drum brakes # 23-112 and # 23-113 include a parking brake and are rated for 6K axles. These use a brake flange with a 5-bolt mounting pattern; if you don't have these already they will need to be welded in place by a qualified welder with the correct jigs to align everything. They can be used with Parking Brake Kit # T2385200. These are compatible with most standard 12 x 2-inch hub-and-drum assemblies, including Dexter, Lippert (LCI), and AL-KO, such...

  • Length of Cable on Titan Breakaway and Parking Kit for Drum Brakes T2385200
The overall length of the cable included with the Titan Breakaway and Parking Kit for Drum Brakes # T2385200 is a bit over 15-feet (183-inches). Half of this length will be on each side of the trailer. My contact at Titan confirmed that the cable cannot be cut but that there is 2-1/2-inches of adjustment possible by rotating the threaded u-shaped yoke at the center of the main cable. This yoke is shown in the photo I linked for you. This will shorten both sides of the long cable by the...

  • Adding Parking Brake To 2011 Earthbound Dakota Trailer
The Dexter Electric Trailer Brake Assembly with Parking Brake - 10" - Left Hand - 3,500 lbs # K23-086-00 and the right side # K23-087-00 are a fit for your 2011 Earthbound Dakota. You will also want the Titan Breakaway and Parking Kit for Drum Brakes # T2385200. The maximum capacity you listed is for the combination of the axles not each axle based on what I see online as well as the 4 bolt mount on the axles and 5 bolt pattern you mention for the wheels.

  • Availability of Surge Brake Actuator with Lunette Ring and Parking Brake Availability
Sounds like you are looking for a surge brake actuator with a lunette ring for use with a pintle hitch like the part # T1891100. For a hand operated parking brake you would want the part # T2385200. This will only work on hydraulic drums that were designed for parking brakes like the part # T2351300.

Hey Jeremy, sorry for the confusion but no the replacement cable for the Dexter Breakaway kit part # T2385500 does not come with the cable that attaches the longer cable to the handle. If you need that as well you'd be best just replacing the entire kit with part # T2385200.

  • Would Titan Breakaway and Parking Kit # T2385200 Work on Sloan Kwik Load Trailer
Thanks for the picture. Based on that it looks like the part # T2385200 is almost an exact replacement. Normally it's used for hydraulic brake setups so I don't know how it would work for you, but if your setup has a way to make it work and the cable setup of this kit matches what you have it really looks like it would work for you.

  • Does the Parking Brake Handle Have to Be Centered on the Trailer Frame
You would want to have the handle as centered as possible on your trailer frame so that it will activate your brakes as evenly as possible, but the cable can slide through the angled tube so if it isn't perfectly centered the overall tension in the cable will provide even tension on both brake assemblies.

  • Hand Brake Recommendation for Timbren Axle Less System
To use a hand brake like the part # T2385200 with the Timbren system part # ASR35HDS02 that you referenced you will need to use a hydraulic drum brake with a parking brake linkage. Since the recommended hub/drum is the part # 8-201-9UC3-EZ which is a 12 by 2 inch drum the correct left hand brake assembly would be the # T2351300 and the right hand side would be # T2351200.
