I have a car trailer that im going to rewire. Would the auxilary 12 v. lead connection be of sufficient capacity to power a car winch, assuming appropriate size wiring?

I would not try wiring a winch through a standard 7-way connector. Winches draw much more amperage than the wiring that can be installed in a 7-way trailer connector can handle. The best solution would be to use a winch wiring kit like the Winch Trailer Wiring Kit, item # BDW20043. This kit includes everything needed to install a connector at the rear of the vehicle and at the front of the trailer, for powering a winch. If you already have heavy enough gauge wire you can order the Electrical Quick Connectors, item # DL24086.

There is another option that would be a cleaner look but would a bit harder to connect the wiring to, because soldering is required. The Pollak Single-Pole, Round Pin Trailer Wiring Socket, item # PK11851, item # PK11852, and # PK11771 would work with a trailer mounted winch. This connection would be in addition to the 7-Way trailer connector for trailer lighting.
