Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at the Replacement Gen-Y Adjustable Ball Mount Shank with the five inch drop or five inch rise for two inch hitches, has a 16,000 pound gross towing weight capacity. Now, this part will replace the shank from your Gen-Y Adjustable Ball Mount with the stacked receivers. This one has the solid shank you can see here that'll slide into your two inch hitch receiver on your vehicle, and then up front, you have the four stacked two inch receivers that'll let you mount a ball mount, a bike rack, or other hitch-mounted accessories to your vehicle. The adjustable height of the shank will let you tow trailers of different heights with the same vehicle, so works well if you have a lifted truck. The ball mount can be lowered or raised to match your application, and if you install this in the drop position like it is shown right here, and then put your ball mount the lowest receiver opening, it'll get you a maximum drop of five inches.
If we flip this around 180 degrees and installed it in the receiver at the rise position and then you put the ball mount in the highest receiver of the rise position, it'll get you a maximum rise of five inches. This is a heavy-duty steel construction, it is ideal for towing extra large loads. They do put a zinc primer on it and then it's coated with a durable silver vein epoxy powder coat to resist corrosion. Now, when you do install this into your hitch receiver, you can see the two hitch pin holes here, it will require hitch pin and clip or a hitch lock for securing this shank to the vehicle. Now, those items we do sell separately on our website.
The hitch pin hole diameter, you can see there's two of them, they're 5/8 of an inch in diameter. This is SAE J684 certified, it is made in the USA. Few specs again, the application fits two inch by two inch trailer hitch receivers, gross towing weight capacity on this is 16,000 pounds, tongue weight capacity is 2,000 pounds. One last thing I do wanna mention is this shank will have many different dimensions to it, so what I would recommend is for you to go to our product page of this part number, and on that page, we'll have a picture of this with all the dimensions put on it. That way, you can verify any dimensions that might be needed for your application.
But that should do it for the review on this Replacement Gen-Y Adjustable Ball Mount Shank with the five inch drop and five inch rise for a two inch hitch, has a 16,000 pound gross towing weight capacity..

Replace the shank from your Gen-Y adjustable ball mount. 4 Stacked receivers let you use a ball mount, bike rack, or cargo carrier. 2,000-lb Tongue weight lets you tow heavy loads easily.Works great for me. It helps me keep different trailers level when pulling and it allows me to have multiple hitches on at the same time. I use one to hold a home made hay bale unroller. Only issue is I may need to shorted a couple of hitches by an inch or so to fit in the normal hitch location on this,

The hitch receiver that is equal to the shank of the ball mount does have less clearance behind the hitch pin hole than the other, open-ended receiver slots. On this Replacement Shank, the closed-in receiver has a clearance of about 4-1/2 inches behind the center hitch pin hole. This measurement is taken from the center of the middle-aligned hitch pin hole to the welds at the back of the receiver.
