Recommendation for Carrying Bikes Between Truck and Trailer

Question:

Im trying to find a way to mount our bikes and rack on the front of our trailer. We have a Thule T2 rack and two mountain bikes. Which weight about 112 pounds In total. I currently put them in the bed but I want to free up some bed space and keep them from knocking around. The issue Im finding is that all of the a frame mounts i have found are only rated for 100 pounds. I would prefer to utilize our existing rack, what else is out there

For your application I recommend checking out the Replacement Shank for Gen-Y Adjustable Ball Mount # 325-GH-204. This fits a 2" hitch and allows you to use 1 receiver for towing your trailer and then you can mount your Thule T2 Pro X Bike Rack # TH83GC in the taller receiver.

Please note this will only be a viable solution if you don't have anything tall on the tongue of your trailer - like a jack. You can check to see if your bike rack will hit anything on your trailer by measuring from the hitch pin hole on your ball mount to the closest thing that will hit on your trailer. If this measures more than 43" you'll be good to go.

If it measures less than 43" you'll need to use a different setup and for that I recommend the Lippert Jack-It 2 Bike Rack for A-Frame Trailers # LC429756. This mounts in the same place as your A-Frame jack and has a weight capacity of 80 lbs (40 lbs per bike) so it solves the issue of clearance and weight capacity for you.

Attached are some review videos for you to check out.
