When you apply the brakes in your tow vehicle, deceleration occurs and momentum pushes your trailer toward the rear of your vehicle. With surge brake systems, the actuator is triggered as your trailer moves forward while the tow vehicle slows. The actuator telescopes, applying force to its master cylinder, which in turn supplies the necessary hydraulic pressure to engage the trailer's brakes.

Electric reverse lockout with solenoid is automatically activated when the tow vehicle is shifted into reverse. To use this feature, you must have a 5-pole flat, 6-way round or 7-pole wiring harness.

No grease fittings, the solenoid is not protected from the elements, the zinc plating will surely disintegrate within a year in saltwater.

by:

Very good quality, and our customer has made no complaints.

by:

Actually I am a little disappointed. In hindsight I'm not sure I received the hitch I was supposed to get. I spoke with a rep before ordering and discussed the weight of my boat 6500# and I recently noticed that hitch is rated for 6000# lbs. What model was the original order for? Also the clasp on latch is very clunky/stick and covers part of the lock hole. I had to grind it down to get lock to slide through.

Sorry about your trouble John, Ill have customer service reach out to you!

by:

I purchased this to because i was replace the drum brakes with disk brakes. It is an excellent actuator (as are the brakes and brake lines). The one issue I have is the thin metal shield for the backup solenoid, it has sharp edges that can cut the insulation of a wire (like the one going to the solenoid) or a child's finger. This design is clearly an afterthought by someone who is incompetent. I bent part of the shield back on itself to minimize the chance of any damage to the wire. This could be easily remedied if the manufacture would add a 1/2" and roll the metal back on itself before bending it. I guess I should be happy that the shield is there at all. I would give it 5/5 if it was not for this stupid afterthought design

by:

Item could be packaged better, it did however arrive a day early. The only reason I did not give a five star review, the guard for the backup solenoid is very thin and was bent to the point of having to be removed to be straightened. I am not sure that it will be strong enough to protect the solenoid and brake line if stepped on.

by:

After a year of service this thing seems to work pretty good. We had a slightly different style actuator that this unit replaced, I believe the big holes lined up pretty good and the installation was straight forward. We definitely got a big boost in braking power from the other unit that was failing. Unit still looks good after a year of use.

by:

I'm sure the product works fine, but it was too long for my available trailer mounting space. If etrailer would provide measurements along with their product information, it would have saved me the return fees and hassle. Also, packaging is terrible. It was thrown in a box with no packing, and arrived all dented up. Now I have to return it, hopefully without discussion on whose fault that is. Box arrived full of holes, and unit dinged and dented on the corners.

by:

Product was sent very well fast delivery and it was exactly what I wanted

by:

This is a replacement for the same actuator that was 27 years old. This is a good value.

by:

Haven't towed with it yet. Loosely bolted to trailer frame. fit perfect. tin on back around solenoid was bent coming out of package but not huge deal. Won't know more until it gets some road use but so far so good.

by:

When I got the box,,, it looked like it went around the world a few times. The metal cover around the back up lock out is bent up, but still workable.

  • Where Do Reverse Lockout Solenoid Wires On Titan Surge Brake Actuator T4750620 Get Connected?
It sure does! The two wires for the reverse lockout solenoid on the Titan Zinc-Plated Brake Actuator w/ Drop, Electric Lockout - Disc - 2-5/16" Ball # T4750620 you were looking at will be wired exactly how you mentioned. One will get grounded to the frame of the trailer, and the other will get connected to your trailer connector and then the reverse lights of your vehicle. It does not matter which wire gets connected to which, just that both do get connected. I included a video of the...

  • Electric Winch and Surge Actuator Recommendation for Trailer Towing 9,500 lb Boat
When it comes to choosing a winch for a boat trailer, there are a few general rules we can use. The boat-size-to-winch capacity is generally 2 to 1. With good rollers and short winching distances, the ratio can increase to 3 to 1 and with wooden bunks and long winching distances, you will want to reduce the capacity to 1 to 1. For an electric winch that would work well for you the ComeUp winch part # CU644501 would work well. This has a 4,500 lb capacity and a 50 foot long synthetic rope. For...

  • Can You Back Up With Titan Hydraulic Actuator Without Reverse Lockout
That's a good question and in order to reverse with the Titan Zinc-Plated Brake Actuator w/ Drop - Disc - 2-5/16" Ball - Bolt On - 12,500 lbs # T4750600 you will need to add a reverse lockout, which is the Solenoid Valve for Titan Brake Actuators # T4748800. The other option is to use the same actuator that does come with an electric lockout, the Titan Zinc-Plated Brake Actuator w/ Drop, Electric Lockout - Disc - 2-5/16" Ball - 12,500 lbs # T4750620. • Installing and Bleeding New Hydraulic Brakes Lines on Trailer With Titan Actuator
I can help you install new hydraulic brake lines on the trailer. The Titan Zinc-Plated Actuator part # T4750620 is a surge brake actuator so you need hydraulic brake lines. • Will Brake Mounting Flanges be Installed on New Axle
Whether the axles have the brake mount flanges on them will depend on what you purchased. However, since they're 6,000 pound axles it's fairly likely the flanges will be there. If not, we carry # 4-44-1 for 6,000 pound axles. It will need to be welded to the axle at a trailer shop because it needs to be perfectly square and concentric. As long as your current brake actuator is for disc brakes and functioning properly there's no need to replace it. However, if you previously had drum...

  • Can Model 10 Actuator Be Used for Drum and Disc Brakes
It depends on what the actuator is rated for. There should be some kind of identifying sticker or maybe it is stamped somewhere on the actuator, like the Dexter # T4750620. Drum brakes don't require as much pressure as disc brakes which is why there is a difference in the actuators that are used.
