Video Transcript for Titan Master Cylinder Assembly Installation

Speaker 1: Today we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Replacement Master Cylinder Assembly for Titan Model 10 and Model 20 Brake Actuators. Part Number T2374600. Now this is going to be a replacement for the Titan Model 10 and Model 20 Brake Actuators, and it's going to work for Drum Brakes only.It is going to come with a plastic filler cap, we can fill our brake fluid right here. So our master cylinder is going to send fluid out to our brakes making sure that they apply whenever we need them to. And the reservoir that is built in is going to hold all the fluid making sure that we have enough supply to supply our brakes with enough fluid. The master cylinder is also going to work with the Dico Model 10 and Model 20 Actuators.

And it's going to be a great replacement for your worn or possibly broken master cylinder. As you can see here, ours definitely needed a replacement. We started to have some rust build up, and the rod actually isn't going to go in at all no matter how hard we push, so we're not going to be able to rely on this to actuate our brakes. The brackets on the side are going to be pre-installed making installation that much easier. The hardware to mount the actuator is not included, so you will need to provide that. Now to make sure this will fit your trailer the mounting holes on each side are going to be 4 3/4" set apart center on center.

The first thing you're going to want to do is find the cap on your actuator, remove it and make sure there's no fluid inside the master cylinder. Then we can start removing the line that's at the back of our master cylinder. Now for this you're going to want to grab a 5/8" wrench and either an adjustable wrench or another 5/8" wrench to hold the fitting that's on the back of the master cylinder itself. Then we're going to have two bolts on each side that are going to be holding it in place. We're going to need to remove those and our application it's going to be a 1/2" head. So we're going to grab a 1/2" socket and ratchet and remove those bolts.

And we're going to hold on to these so we can reinstall them with the new master cylinder. Now the master cylinder is freed up and it should be able to come out, but if yours is like ours it may be a little rusty and a little tight to come out. You just want to take your time and work at it until you can pull it all the way out. Now it would be a good idea to clean out any kind of debris, dirt, rust or anything else that would be collecting from maybe storing your trailer outside or just from over years of having your trailer. You want to clean all of that debris out.Now with the master cylinder out you're going to want to make sure that the coupler is pulled all the away from the trailer, you're just going to grab it, pull it out.

And then we can get ready to put our new master cylinder in.So we're going to put it in the same way that we took the old one out. First we're going to remove the cap. And you'll notice that on the brackets here on the side they are labeled. That's going to have an L for left and an R for right. So we can take our master cylinder and making sure that the shaft is pointing toward the coupler, we're going to slide it in place. And again it may be a little bit of a tight fit just because of the rust and debris from over time. We're going to put it in place and we're going to line up the four holes with the holes that we took the bolts out of earlier. So with our holes lined up and our master cylinder inside the coupler we go and take our bolts that we removed earlier and reinstall them.So we're going to come back with our 1/2" socket and wrench and tighten up those four bolts. So if you're going to be hooking your master cylinder up to an already existing brake line or brake assembly is already in place, go ahead and do that. And then we can fill our master cylinder up and begin the bleeding process. However we're going to be replacing the brake lines on our trailer so we're going to get those in place and then we'll show you how to bleed them.So with everything tight and everything in place we can go ahead and fill up our master cylinder and start bleeding our brakes. So you're going to want to grab and extra set of hands and they're going to manually operate the actuator up front while we open up the bleeders at the brake assemblies. Now when you are operating the actuator back and forth you want to make sure that the reservoir stays full of fluid that way you don't get any more air in the lines. Start with the farthest wheel position away from the master cylinder or the longest brake line moving further forward or to the shortest brake line. Our bleeder's going to be right here at the back of our brake assembly, underneath this red cap. So we can just pull off this red cap. I'm going to use a hose with a bottle attached. Now I've got a little bit of brake fluid in here so I can see the bubbles coming out and making sure that it's not just fluid and that the air is coming out of the system. So we can put the end of the hose right on the end of our bleeder but still leave us enough room so that we can open it up. So we're going to use a 3/8" wrench to open up that bleeder valve and we're going to want to do this until we have a solid stream of fluid coming out. Then we're going to close the valve and cycle the actuator so we can see the bubbles coming out of the bottom here which is what we want. It's just going to take a little bit of time to keep pumping until we just get a solid stream of fluid, no more bubbles. And that will finish up your look at the Replacement Master Cylinder Assembly for Titan Model 10 and Model 20 Brake Actuators, Part Number T2374600.

It arrived on time and worked well for the application I was repairing. (Perfect) Thank you I will definitely shop again..

by:

It appears to be the correct part however the metal rod with rubber boot is missing (see circled section in photo). It may have fallen out of the box in transit since it was taped up so poorly and the USPS delivered it looking like they tore the box open. Probably should have been secured in the box a lot better than one piece of tape wrapped once because of the weight of the item. Probably the worst I have ever received a package from eTrailer so I know this isn’t normal.

Hi Robert, Thanks for your feedback! Our customer service team will be reaching out to you.

Excellent service with knowledgeable associates who interpret parts needs for the job.

by:

A bolt on system that needed a minor work to fit as a replacement oem part, but overall, it works good.

by:

The part looks excellent just exactly what I need the installation will come when it stops snowing yet again. UPS sucks like they always do but that has nothing to do with this company they were quick they put it in the system and sent it on its way you couldn't ask for anything more. And I asked for assistance and they offered everything they could which was excellent

I found this sight just looking for a question answered, not only was it answered but the part I needed was in stock. I wish i had found them earlier when i was replacing the rear shoes and cylinders. No offense to NAPA but I could have bought a whole backing plate assembly ready to bolt on for a fraction of the money I spent buying the parts individually. etrailer.com has been saved in my list of favorites

Replacement brake actuator fits with no issue and works like a charm! Now I have trailer brakes again.
etrailer was good to work with, shipped on time, no problems. Would use again.

About a year ago, I needed a new master cylinder for a very old EZ Loader trailer hauling a 3 ton boat. It is comforting to have a company like eTrailer.com to go to for hard to find OEM parts at still reasonable prices. Of course, it's even better to have working brakes! I found eTrailer.com back in 2012 when I needed a new license plate mounting assembly with lights. They had exactly what I needed in stock, ready to ship. Thanks for being there.

by:

Ths is my second order from Etrailer. Top Drawer vendor (price, prompt shipping, packaging, ect) and even better is the customer service. Kathy Hoette went way our of her way to help me with some technical questions and Andi D. made sure it got to me asap by special request....I have previously used Champion, Eastern and Pacific trailer supply for various trailor parts orders (brakes, bearings, seals, Hydraulics, ect) but I will now go to Etrailor 1st as primary vendor...Thanks again..Tim in Hollister Ca.

by:

Exact fit and works like a charm. Never thought I'd find the entire assembly until looking on etrailer - they have everything! East install, added brake fluid, actuated cylinder and installing new brake fluid into my brand new lines was a snap! Looking forward to many years of useful service out of this. Plus I ordered the cover to keep it away from the elements.

by:

This master cylinder replaced the one that came on an M&W 300 bushel gravity wagon from the 1980s (no longer in production, and company closed). It was used for the 2014 grain harvest and performed as needed. 1963 Ford F100 4x4 brake hoses are the match needed (these are a few inches longer than the non-4x4). The customer service reps were excellent, as I had made an error in my order and they very quickly corrected it by email and phone and got my order out and to me on time.

by:

It fit perfect and was exactly what I needed. I would like to thank George for the quick response and delivery. Thanks

by:

The day before our annual vacation our surge brake broke on our boat trailer ... I was not able to find a replacement locally.
I found the part on ETRAILER ... their web site was simple to use, their product description gave me all the details needed to make a confident purchase. I paid for over night shipping. My replacement part arrived at 10:00am the next morning. George in shipping stayed in contact with me the entire time, I was impressed.
We were able to install the part and two hours later were on our way ....... thank you ETRAILER !!!

by:

I ordered a master cylinder for a trailer that I had recently acquired. I had tried finding it everywhere locally no one has even heard of a hydraulic trailer brake system. So I googled hydraulic trailer brakes. etrailer.com came up and I easily found the product I needed on their site. I ordered it on Monday and it arrived on Wednesday. It was super fast delivery and a perfect fit. It works exactly like it is supposed to. I could not be happier. Thanks trailer.com

by:

Took the Boat out yesterday with the new master and even though the trailer is 40 years old it stopped like brand new. Thanks for all the pic's and video as I wasn't sure this master was the same as the one installed on my 1978 Caulkins trailer. as it turns out the casting numbers were identical. 2 day shipping made sure that we could be on the boat as my son and family came up from Texas and we spent a great day on the water. I was nervous at first but all worked out awesome.

Thanks I will recommend,
Tom

by:

Part fit perfectly. Slid in where old one was. Hand started 4 bolts then brake line snugged bolts then brake line. Bled system with my vacuum brake bleeder. Worked perfect pulling our cruiser

by:

Ordered late Tuesday, received Friday, installed Saturday and it fit perfectly. Ours is a 25-year old trailer with a peculiar master cylinder that actuates the slave cylinders when a surge of pressure trips the hydraulic system. I could not even supply the make or model of the trailer, just the weight capacity. Thank you for pulling the rabbit out of the hat the first attempt. You have earned my future business.

by:

Perfect replacement, replaced it when I did all new hydraulic lines and brakes. Fit right in work perfect.

by:

I called a few different companies regarding pricing and delivery of a product for my trailer. Pricing was about the same at the different companies but the sales/parts department (Juanita) made the difference in choosing etrailer as my supplier. She was knowledgeable and courteous and got the part out immediately. The initial purchase being a trial run I wouldn't hesitate to order through them exclusively.

by:

Wow! Shot in the dark for a 25-year old trailer, brand unknown and you guys scored a bullseye the first try. Great price, excellent delivery and pleasant service staff seals
the deal for me. I should also mention that your staff seems not to know what a "hold button" is. Thank you, Thank you.

by:

Life saver, thanks

by:

The master cylinder works as designed which allows me to continue to use my trailer as needed

by:

These fit my application like a glove !!! Way easier than piecing together all the parts separately!! Hardest part of the install was re-starting the brake line fitting because it fit so perfectly to my application !!

by:

The replacement part for my brakes fit perfectly and I installed it in just a few minutes. Works great as designed.

  • Replacement Master Cylinder for Titan Model 10 or Model 20 Actuator
The easiest way would be to know the part number, but if you need a master cylinder replacement you actually don't need to know if your Titan actuator is a Model 10 or Model 20 because the master cylinder replacements we carry can be used for either.
