When you apply the brakes in your tow vehicle, deceleration occurs and momentum pushes your trailer toward the rear of your vehicle. With surge brake systems, the actuator is triggered as your trailer moves forward while the tow vehicle slows. The actuator telescopes, applying force to its master cylinder, which in turn supplies the necessary hydraulic pressure to engage the trailer's brakes.

Because this model does not include a reverse lockout, it is recommended that you equip your trailer with free-backing brakes so that you can drive in reverse without triggering your trailer's brakes.

  • Coupler Lock for Titan Brake Actuator With 2-5/16 Hitch Ball
There is a coupler lock for your Titan Brake Actuator # T2477600 with a 2-5/16" ball. The Master Lock # ML389DAT uses a 1-piece housing to fit securely around the coupler, has a powder coat to resist corrosion and comes with a pair of keys. I've added a photo showing how it looks on a Titan coupler and also linked a couple video reviews for you to take a look at.

Absolutely, the brake actuator we have that most closely matches your gross trailer weight (GTW) of 10,000 lbs, is our Titan Zinc-Plated Brake Actuator part # T2478100. If you do not wish to have a 3" drop for the hitch ball, you will want part # T2477600. The Titan actuator is rated for a gross trailer weight up to 12,500 lbs and will fit over a 3" wide trailer tongue. • Master Cylinder Replacements for Titan Actuators
I was unable to find an order number for you so I'm not entirely sure what you have, but were you referring to the Replacement Master Cylinder Cap with Diaphragm for Titan Model 10 and 20 Brake Actuators # T4830601? I only ask because there is not a model 0100, but there is a Model 10 such as part # T2477600. A master cylinder cap will only fit the direct model it is designed for so you will need to know your actuator's model in order to get the correct cap. The Replacement Cap for...

  • Replacement for Atwood Surge Brake Actuator
The Atwood MPD 85778 is not actually a model number for their actuator, it is a literature number - basically a manual number so I wouldn't be able to tell you what a direct replacement would be. You will need to match your actuator to either drum or disc brakes, the weight capacity, coupler size and what size tongue it bolts onto. For example, if you had disc brakes, a 3" wide channel tongue, needed a 7,000 lb capacity and had either a 1-7/8", 2" or 50-mm hitch ball a great option...

  • Coupler Lock for Dexter DX12.5 (Model 10) Actuator with Wide Lip
The Master Lock Trailer Coupler Lock # 377DAT you purchased can accommodate a max coupler width (including lip) of 4 inches , so for a lock that works with up to a 4-3/4 inch coupler width, I recommend the Blaylock EZ Lock Trailer Coupler Lock # BLTL-33-40D. I pulled our Titan Model 10 actuator # T2477600 (Dexter DX12.5), and found that it measures just over 4-5/8 (4.63) inches edge to edge of the coupler lip, so the BLTL-33-40D will definitely be wide enough and work perfectly with your...

  • How to Lock Out a Model 10 Actuator When Going to an Electric Over Hydraulic Setup
I spoke to my contact at Titan and he informed me that there really isn't a simple way to lock out the sliding portion of the Model 10 actuators. You would have to either weld the two portions of the actuator together or drill holes through them and bolt the pieces together. If the actuator is bolted to your trailer the best solution would be to go with the coupler part # T4853100 as this has the same bolt pattern and is a standard coupler. The Model 20 and 60 couplers can be easily locked...

  • How to Determine if Replacement Coupler Inner Slide part # T1608400317 is Correct for Actuator
Easiest way to tell will be to check out the product pictures of the # T2477600 which is a Model 10 actuator like what the part # T1608400317 is designed to fit. Most actuators are about the same dimensions as they are all designed to fit 3 inch channel so by dimension would not give you the best results.

  • Parts Needed To Replace Hydraulic Braking System On Boat Trailer
Hydraulic systems are preferred on boat trailers because water and electricity do not mix well. This switch keeps the surge coupler from locking the brakes on the trailer when you are backing up. • Advice on Replacing Old Surge Brake Coupler with Non Surge Straight Box Coupler Shaft
Thank you for including images, this was a great help to me understanding what you will need to do to equip your trailer with electric brakes. The best thing for you to do is to immobilize the surge coupler. To do this you can weld the inner part of the surge coupler to the outer sleeve, as seen in the attached photo in blue. You can also drill a 5/8 inch hole through the unit and insert a grade 5 or 8 bolt through it. If you do this you will want to make sure you choose a spot that...
