Installed my 2” hitch but don’t have a 2” bike trailer yet. I purchased this to continue to use my 1.25” bike trailer (until I find a deal).

Used this over Thanksgiving weekend on I35 in Texas (tons of traffic)and I’m very pleased with the performance. I’m was secure and bikes traveled just fine.

by:

I ordered this adapter from e-Trailer so I could extend my bike rack past my spare tire on my 2005 Honda CRV. This solved my problem and this thing is well made to take the weight. I'm glad I purchased from e-trailer because I know now that they sell quality products as I have also purchased a new receiver, ball mount and 2' ball to pull my trailer. If your goal is quality, great service and fast shipping then e-Trailer is one company to go with.

by:

I would like to tell you about my experience with etrailer.com. I am a return customer because I always find what I need at reasonable prices, quick and inexpensive shipping charges. I ordered this for a 1999 GMC Safari to fit my new Draw Tite hitch. I use it for my bike rack which fits like a glove. I highly recommend etrailer.com. I feel they are a very good company to deal with because I get personal service which is uncommon these days.

by:

Functions as designed: The extension allows my bike rack to clear the rear tire on my Jeep. I added a tightening lock to secure it in place and now have no rattle or shake on the rack. Happy Jeep Owner

by:

Works great to adapt my Saris bike rack (1 1/4") to the 2" receiver on my truck's front hitch. Also gives me a buffer between the bikes and my truck's grill. I purchased a hitch pin separately for adapter.

by:

Nice quality adapter. Simple, strong, does what it's supposed to. Would purchase again.

Well over a year and product is just fine. Thank you for the follow up!

by:

Wonderful. Just what I needed. I could find all kinds of adapters for my wife's car, turning here bike rack hitch 1-1/4 in. to a 2 inch hitch. I couldn't find one taking mine down from a 2 to a 1-1/4. Works like a charm. Nice good and tight fit.

by:

This adapter was used for using our 2" hitch with a 1.25" bike rack insert - the adapter worked fine but the double tolerance gaps and torque of the rack itself made the rack wiggle in an unsatisfactory manner. (Rack was a vertical rack with L shape inserted into hitch+adapter) We ended up buying a new bike rack with a 2" insert and we've been happy with that solution.

Unfortunately, when an extender is used, additional bouncing is unavoidable due to having an extra piece between the hitch and the hitch mounted accessory. Using two anti-rattle devices like # RM-061 and # RM-061-125 would have helped somewhat, but not completely. The best practice is to use a hitch accessory designed to fit your receiver tube size, and avoid adapters altogether. Additionally, using an adapter or extender will lower the towing and tongue weight capacity of the receiver hitch by half due to the extra leverage placed on the hitch.

Same comments and agree with the etrailer comments: anti-rattle devices would have been helpful but getting a device with proper size without adapters was the best choice.

by:

I use the extension for my bike rack.

by:

It is a simple bike rack adapter, but it fits, it works, it was fairly inexpensive, and it got to me in just a few days. I have no complaints and am very happy with the product and the overall service.

Mighty good. It has held up well and I use it pretty often to tote my bikes around. I would recommend it to anyone. Thanks for asking.

by:

Gives me the ability to use both 1-1/4“ and 2" receivers and move the bike rack back enough to open the trunk.

by:

The product was exactly as shown in the picture... I had gone to a number of stores looking for this exact product.... No one had one or even understood what I was looking for... I was wanting to use a bike rack and needed to go from a 2 inch to a 1 1/4 inch opening... So, I decided to look on line... and there it was... It was delivered sooner them I thought it would... They kept me informed of when it was shipped and when it had arrived.. I like that.... I have a few more project to handle, and I plan on using etrailer again...

Steven,Thank you for your review. Please keep in mind this adapter reduces your hitches tongue weight by 50. You will need to cut the weight that you normally put on your bike rack in half. That is including the weight of your bike rack. Thank you.

by:

First let me start off by saying that I have been purchasing products from etrailer.com for several years now. Every purchase has been top quality as it is seen on their site. I have never been disappointed and I will continue to purchase from this company. My recent purchase of the Maxxtow hitch receiver is well made and fits like a glove as intended to. The second purchase was that of the Yakima rubber straps. I have an older Yakima bike rack that I wasn't sure that I was going to be able to find original straps for and etrailer.com was there to the rescue! The straps were almost identical and they did the trick for an inexpensive price no less. The bottom line, if you need the gear shop here first. The quality and selection is vast and the customer service is exceptional. Thank you etrailer!

Mike

Just what I needed to extend my Saris bike rack past my Jeep's spare tire and also to adapt from the 1.25" rack to the 2" receiver.
I strongly suggest also getting the Saris Anti-rattle hitch pin, especially if you have a Saris rack - no wobbling!

by:

Extension works perfectly...is in use with bike rack on Jeep. Thanks for keeping me informed of manufactures delay.

I also need an adapter for a bike rack on Jeep, but need clearance for the spare tire carrier. Did this work?

by:

Working great for me and still strong . I use a Kuat bike rack and needed the adapter because the Kuat was designed for 1-1/4 hitch and I have a 2 inch hitch . The only thing is it a tad longer than I would like but that doesn’t effect much .

by:

As always etrailer nailed it.

Fit
my 2010 FJ perfectly, easy install, has seen heavy usage hauling motorcycles to the woods/track and nary a peep out of it.

Can't beat etrailer price, quality or service.

by:

Perfect solution to the problem of not enough clearance space for my bike rack in my dealer installed hitch on my 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe. I had to ream out one of the holes to accommodate a larger pin for stability, but no problem. Highly recommend.

by:

My daughter has a 1-1/4 inch cargo carrier that she wished to use on a friend's SUV for a camping trip but, we did not learn until the last minute the vehicle had a 2 inch hitch. I solved the problem on a short term basis so they could make their trip. I purchased this 2 inch to 1-1/4 inch adapter for her future use on 2 inch hitches because it is much safer and easier to use. I tested it on my vehicle and it fits beautifully.

by:

Great idea on the 2 inch to 1.25 reducer. The 1.25 was from a previous car and the new vehicle had a 2 inch hitch. Saved me from buying a new bike rack

by:

Best price, shipped and received promptly, appears to be well constructed and fits well in my 2” receiver. My 1-1/4” bike rack now fits into the hitch on my minivan, and we are ready for travels.

by:

I put this trailer hitch on a brand new Highlander. Since it required modification of some parts i was nervous about doing the job. However, the job went smoothly and I am very pleased with the outcome. The quality of the hitch assembly was topnotch and the instructions (although there was an error or two in them) were clear enough for me to follow. I was proud that as a 74 year old I was able to to it myself.

by:

It worked well to install my bike rack on the truck and gave enough space so I could open the tailgate with the bike rack on. I wish the connection to the truck had less play in it. The side to side motion was more than I would like and after 1 trip the bottom part of the hitch already cut through the coding on the adapter.

by:

I recently purchased a new car with a factory trailer hitch included. The problem was it was a 2 inch receiver and my bike rack , motor cycle trailer and cargo rack all were 1 inch. I googled trailer hitch reducers and found the the etrailer site. They had just what I was looking for and a great price. It arrived within 3 days. I also have ordered tires for my motorcycle camping trailer from etrailer with the same great service from their representatives.

by:

Trailer hitch adapter 2” down to 1 1/4”.
Horrible experience. This piece should be a slip fit. It is so loose in the receiver that I cannot use. And etrailer wants to charge me 15 bucks to ship this POS back to them. Very disappointed.

For your 2013 Honda Accord Sport I can confirm that the Curt # C11681 trailer hitch is a fit and will work with the Curt 2 Bike Rack # C18085.
