Video Transcript for etrailer Jack Footplate Review

Hi everyone. Aiden here with etrailer. Today we're going be taking a look at this Footplate for your trailer jacks. If your trailer jack doesn't come with one or you need a replacement this could be the one you're looking for. Let's check it out. This bolts onto the bottom of your jack, lining up with the holes, sliding that bolt through and taking your locknut, adding it to the other side and tightening things down.

It does come included with that hardware so you don't have to worry about getting it yourself. (tool operating) Depending on the jack you use this with, it might take a little while to get everything lowered down because it doesn't really add any extension to the bottom of the jack. It bolts on and just sits pretty much right there at the base of the tube. It will work with a two inch inner diameter tube though. So whenever you're checking this out and making sure it'll work with your jack, just measure the diameter of that inner tube and make sure it's two inches.

It doesn't have a super wide base but it is going to be larger than just the tube of the jack itself and keep it protected. Narrow ways here, it's going to be two and one quarter of an inch and lengthwise it's going to be four and a half inches. There is a small lip on here where water could collect but there's two drain holes on the footplate itself so water won't collect and stay there, it'll just drain out and not be standing. The clear zinc finish is going to help it resist rust and corrosion over time, and it's designed to work with jacks that have a wake basket of 2000 or 5,000 pounds. So be sure you're getting the right foot plate for the right jack 'cause you don't want that to be the lowest rated component of your system and limit the use of your jack.

And if you're looking for something simple and straightforward, this one I think will do just fine. But like I said, I would maybe recommend looking into one that has a bit of an extension. That way you don't have to run the jack up and down so much whenever you're hooking up or disconnecting from your truck. And something like this is going to have a wider foot plate and a quick and easy to disconnect pin so you don't have to leave it on the bottom of the jack all the time. It's a lot easier to pull this out than a nut and a bolt.

But that was our look at this Replacement Jack Footplate for your trailers. Thanks for watching.

This was the smallest diameter and lightest duty I could find at etrailer. A bit large for this application but I squeezed it in and it does the job.

by:

Good quality foot for my new trailer jack. Hardware included.

by:

Perfect replacement

by:

Exactly what I needed

by:

Perfect replacement for my old mangled one. When I put this in I also shortened the jack, so it won't drag so often.

by:

Product seemed fine, except the connecting bolt was not included - not sure if that was a mistake or not.

by:

Michelle was every helpful. I explained my problem with my electric tongue jack and inquired if a manual would work with my travel trailer application. She explained how and where it would work better and even provide more lift than my current unit. She added that the item she was recommending was a best seller for the company.

About five days later, it arrived, I installed it in half and hour and it is everything she described. My issue, which overworked my electric, is I have to actually lift my truck when connected by the ball about five inches in order to get the correct tension on my equalizer bars, putting not only tongue weight but rear truck weight on the jack. Works as designed and Michelle described. Time will tell on longevity, but the unit is smooth and easily lifts to height, so it doesn't seem to be overworked. Price was very reasonable as well.

by:

Awesome product! East and quick to inst all

by:

by:

by:

These are easy to install and are very sturdy...would work for any atv/utv...customer service is great also...prompt responses...would use E trailer for all my trailer needs

by:

The packaging needs to be updated. When we got our product, all the boxes were ripped and almost ever one didn't have the bolt.

by:

It's a jack foot. It fit and does its job.

by:

Just as requested and stabilize trailer well.

by:

Great price and great product. Heavy gauge material and well packaged.

by:

It's just a foot but I wish it had 2X the "footprint".

by:

The product was great and worked perfectly. Our main compliment is what a great company you are to order from and work with. Your employees followed up and replied to all correspondence very quickly. They helped us fix a shipping problem (we had a post office box) and fixed it correctly the first time AND confirmed the correction! Thanks sooooo much for the personal service!

by:

As shown, worked nice.

by:

Got the right part in a a timely fashio n.

by:

It perfectly OK. I ga b e a 4 because the clip to attach to the tongue wasn't with it as shown in the oicture.

  • Replacement Jack for 1997 Starcraft Meteor 814 Classic
We don't offer a replacement jack that would be compatible with the bracketry you show in your photo, but we do offer an option that would work for you. Folks use side-mount jacks on A-frame trailers all the time, but as you found they're not very stable because of the tilting force placed on them because the load is off-center. I'd recommend replacing your existing coupler with part # CA-5100-Z which would provide a strong and secure mounting location for the jack. The coupler is a weld-on...

  • Replacement Jack for 2014 Legend Enclosed Trailer with A-Frame
It sounds like you likely have an A-Frame trailer, so you can use something like the etrailer Round, A-Frame Jack - Sidewind - 15" Lift - 5,000 lbs # TJA-5000S-B which will attach to the 3 mounting points on the trailer tongue and provide you with a jack with 15" of lift. This jack doesn't come with a foot so you'll also need the Footplate for 2,000-lb and 5,000-lb Round, A-Frame Jacks # JF-99, which is designed for that jack. If you're looking for an electric jack then something like...

  • Footplate Recommendation for the etrailer Round A-Frame Jack # TJA-5000S-B
I believe you are looking for a footplate for the etrailer Round A-Frame Jack, # TJA-5000S-B. If so, then you can use the Footplate for 2,000-lb and 5,000-lb Round, A-Frame Jacks # JF-99. This foot plate attaches to the inner jack leg using included pin. Since you will be installing this jack on a dump trailer, I recommend using the Bottom Support Plate for 2-1/4" OD A-Frame Jacks - 5,000 lbs # JSP-100. Dump trailers can be loaded pretty heavy, and this plate will help support the jack...

  • Recommended A-Frame Jack for a 2006 Nash 22h Travel Trailer That Weighs 4,087 Pounds
Your 2006 Nash 22h travel trailer weighs 4,087 pounds and is 23 feet based on my research. It will have a tongue weight of 408-614 pounds. Take into consideration that the 4,087 pounds is the dry weight of your Nash travel trailer. The Pro Series A-frame jack # PSRV20000103 you referenced will not work because the outer tube diameter is 2-1/8 and your Atwood trailer coupler # AT81912 has a 2-1/4 inch diameter. I recommend # TJA-2000S-B. It has a capacity of 2,000 pounds and has an outer...

  • Recommended Trailer Jack for Aliner Scout to Use with Jack It 2 Bike Carrier
It looks like the Aliner Scout has a dry weight of around 1350-lbs and a tongue weight of around 135-lbs when unloaded. Since you need a side-wind jack, I recommend using the etrailer.com Round, A-Frame Trailer Jack # TJA-5000S-B which will easily handle the weight of your Aliner Scout trailer; since this jack does not come with a foot plate you'll want to also get the Footplate for 2,000-lb and 5,000-lb Round, A-Frame Jacks # JF-99. If you wanted to go with a premium option, I recommend...

  • Trailer Jack Recommendations for a 10,000 Pound A-Frame Trailer
A trailer jack only lifts part of the weight of the trailer and not the whole 10,000 pounds of your trailer. A 10K trailer would have a tongue weight of around 1,000 to 1,500 pounds. But the higher the capacity of the jack the easier it is for the jack to lift the weight and the longer it will last. A jack rated for 5,000 pounds such as # TJA-5000S-B is an option. You could add foot # JF-99 as well. I have linked a video review of the jack for you. If you'd prefer an electric jack then...

  • Recommended A-Frame Trailer Jack For A 7,000lb Loaded Cattle Trailer
A trailer jack is designed to lift the tongue of your trailer so you can connect the trailer coupler to your hitch ball. To do this, you'll need a jack with a lift capacity high enough to handle your trailer's tongue weight. Tongue weight is the amount of weight that your trailer applies to the back of your tow vehicle. Typically, your tongue weight should be 10-15% of your total trailer weight (trailer + cargo). In other words, a 10,000-lb trailer would have a tongue weight between 1,000lbs...

  • Manual A-Frame Trailer Jack with Shortest Retracted Bracket Height
I looked through all of our available manual A-Frame trailer jacks and the option with the shortest retracted bracket height is the etrailer.com A-Frame # TJA-2001-B. The retracted bracket height is right at 5-1/8 inches from the ground and it has a weight capacity of 2,000 pounds. It doesn't come with a foot plate but it can be added with part # JF-99. I have attached a couple short video reviews that you can check out as well.

It is an easy replacement for you based on the picture you sent. The opening for most A-frame jacks require an outer diameter of 2-1/4 inches. I recommend you use a round jack like the Round A-Frame Trailer Jack - Sidewind - 15-5/8" Travel - 5,000 lbs # TJA-5000S-B, it will be an easy fit without any change to the hole other than maybe cleaning up corrosion. For this application you will also want a footplate like # JF-99. This mount has all three elongated holes for easy mounting. The...

  • Replacement Jack Solution for Trailer that Needs 1-7/8 inch Diameter Tube Jack
None of the jacks we offer have tube dimensions that would be small enough to fit the bottom support plate on your trailer that is 1-7/8 inches in diameter. The best recommendation I could make would be to install a new bottom support plate like part # BD003135 so that you could use a jack like the etrailer Jack part # TJA-5000S-B that you referenced. For a foot plate you would want part # JF-99.

The etrailer Round A-Frame Jack # TJA-5000S-B that you referenced can indeed be used with foot plate # JF-99. If you need a caster wheel assembly, you can use # PS1400750340 from Pro Series. Please note that the caster wheel has a lower capacity (1200-lbs) than the jack (5000-lbs) and use of the caster will lower the jack's capacity to this 1200-lbs.

The majority of the weight of your trailer will be on your axles and this will definitely support the tongue weight without issue. Your best option is to replace the jack and drill 3 new holes into the trailer. A-frame jacks have a standard bolt pattern that's roughly 3 inches on center from hole to hole. Generally the holes on the jack are slotted to allow for slight variances in the measurement and different hole sizes. Our most popular electric A-frame jack is the Stromberg Carlson # SC63VR. It has stops to prevent overextending or retracting - which is the cause of failure on most jacks. If you prefer a manual...
