Recommended Replacement Round Jack For Trailer Coupler

Question:

How hard is it to replace an existing round jack with this? Will I need to open the hole up on the trailer?

It is an easy replacement for you based on the picture you sent. The opening for most A-frame jacks require an outer diameter of 2-1/4 inches. I recommend you use a round jack like the Round A-Frame Trailer Jack - Sidewind - 15-5/8" Travel - 5,000 lbs # TJA-5000S-B, it will be an easy fit without any change to the hole other than maybe cleaning up corrosion. For this application you will also want a footplate like # JF-99. This mount has all three elongated holes for easy mounting.

The changing to a different style like the # TJDA-5000S you referenced would require opening the hole to fit a square tube. The mounting holes will need to be about 3-3/8 inches center on center because only one of the mounting holes is elongated.
