Video Transcript for Roadmaster Quick Foot Assembly Tongue Jack Extender Review

Hey guys, Zach here at etrailer.com. Today, we're going to be taking a look at the Roadmaster quick foot. This is going to be a Jack extender and foot plate, and it's going to adjust anywhere from two to six inches to make it much easier to raise and lower our trailer. We have it on an enclosed trailer today, but this also works out really great for bumper pool campers. So this is going to work out with a lot of different applications. When it comes to manual jacks, we've all been there and you sit there and you have to crank on this forever.

To save some time though, that's what these extenders are for. So given us that up to six inches or bringing it back up, it's going to save us a ton of time whenever we're hooking up or unhooking from our vehicle. A guy here was walking by and he was telling me that he has to use his woodblock all the time.Everybody does the woodblock thing and that's fine, but you have to keep that woodblock around and you have to toss it in a trailer in the back of the truck. It's also not the safest, unless you're using like a big block. It creates kind of a pivot point where if you don't get it on there, it could potentially fall off.

And that's just not a safe situation when your trailers is in storage. And that's another cool thing about this one is just the size of this foot plate that has seven inches. That is one of the largest ones we offer. But also you can see how thick that is too. This is a really solid, durable foot plate.

And I just like everything about how it's welded really nice there. It's solid steel construction with a zinc coating so it's going to hold up against rust and corrosion. And then here's a closer look at those adjustment holes. We have it in the furthest down one. So that's the six inches of extension, but each one is going to go on two inches. So this one would be four inches, two inches and then this one would just be even.

Another thing that's important about the size of this plate is how it spreads out the energy. It's not as important in this concrete parking lot that we're here today. But if we had our camper in a softer storage lot and we didn't have a plate, it would potentially sink down in the ground. So this is going to do a really good job of spreading that out and keeping it from sinking down. And when it comes to the weight capacity, it has a 5,000 pound tongue weight capacity. That's a significant amount of weight. So it's going to work out great for most stock campers. So here, I'm going to have it in a simulated position like it's hooked up to a vehicle, even though I have it resting on jack stands, this is how high it would be, it can go a little higher actually. But instead of having to manually crank our jack down all that way, we can bring this down by pulling that pin out and then hooking it back up.And then we just saved a ton of space and we don't have to do that. And we can just start taking it down and taking the pressure off of our vehicle or our jack stands here. So then when it comes to bringing this back up, it's still going to add a lot of length to the bottom. And then to give you a little bit more clearance, we can pull that pin and clip. And that's what that outer dimension being a little bit larger is great for because it can slide up over that inner tube, get that lined up and we gain two more inches of clearance. The way that it slides over our jack is that the diameter is a little bit larger than the standard two inch. So that allows it to slide up over it easily and to keep it even the included spacer collar attaches right here.So we don't have a foot plate that's wobbling all around. Also there are two holes in the bottom of the foot plate. If water does get in that tube, it'll just drain out. So you don't have to worry about water pooling up in that. One thing I want to point out is that we tried putting this on a couple of different jacks here in our parking lot. And it only worked with the punch style like this. It's really hard to see, and I've never paid attention to how this attention is put in there, but on the manual jacks, they have this one that's almost like pressed in. As you can see on this electric jack, it's more of a cut style and it's quite a bit narrow compared to that other one we we're just looking at and the set screws, just a little too wide to work with this style. Overall, it's a good way to save you some time if you have a manual jack.I like the range that it has. I don't think that you need much more than that six inches. But the thing that really impresses me is just how well it's constructed. It's pretty beefy and I think it's going to hold up well for a long time for you. And it's super easy to install. So let's just walk you through how we put this one on.The first thing we need to do is we need to take the weight off of our jack. So I have a couple of jack stands underneath this. You can see this is not ideal. A lot of States don't even allow you to transfer wood across State lines. They don't want you to move something that might be infected. So we'll get that out of the way. And this is going to replace carrying a big piece of wood around all the time. A lot of people use woodblocks. I'll just get all of our stuff prepped here. First thing we need to do is we need to back this set, screw out. We're going to get this lined up with the grooves on the inner portion of our jack here. So we'll slide this in and I'm just going to use my pin to hold it in place to make sure I have that lined up all the way. Once we get that set, we're going to come through, with a nine 30 seconds Allen key. I'm going to get that set so that holds in place. You don't need to get this super tight and we just want it to hold it in place, but we do want to make sure that, that's flush with the outer portion of that collar so it doesn't interfere with our foot plate. Now we can raise this up a little bit more so we can get that foot underneath there, put it in the lowest position, get that secured. We can lower that down and remove our jack stands. As you can see, it's super easy to get that on. Now, I don't have to carry around that big piece of wood and try to find it or store it somewhere.

Nice solid tounge jack stand. There’s a collar you slide over existing one then you have to get the pin in, took a little fiddling but I have it lined up now. Works great, built very solid and saves time hooking and unhooking as well as a very stable base

  • Recommended Trailer Tongue Jack Extender For Pop Up Camper
I have not seen any additional add on parts for the Fastway Flip Automatic Fold-Up Jack Foot # FA88-00-4500 that will do what you are looking for. And it can be used on a pop up that is using a 2-1/4" tongue jack. I recommend the Roadmaster Quick Foot Assembly Tongue Jack Extender # RO84FR as it uses a pin that will lock it in place on your pop up trailer. And since it is height adjustable to 2", 4" and 6" it will adapt to unlevel ground much better. You should always be sure to use...
