Here in Saskatoon, Canada, I am very pleased to endorse
J&J's flagpole holder and hitch mount extension products.
Solid construction and beautifully finished engineered pieces.
Fitted easily onto my '92 Camaro RS, for Shriner parades.
Supporting a worthy philanthropic effort for children.

Peter D still endorses this product & would recommend it to anyone thinking of buying these trailer accessories from J& J.

1 1/4" extension fit well (could be a tiny more snug). but was just what i needed for my mini cooper and new bike rack. Fast Ship good price and I would use them again.

Now i can use my bike rack! :)

Adapter works as it should. Seems strong and secure.

by:

The extender does just what it is suppose to do. Received extender in record time from you too. Thanks!

by:

Excellent! Exactly what I needed. I wanted to put on a hitch light, however my hitch sits back to far and has a low ceiling so my light wouldn’t fit. This extends out just enough to have my light installed and it looks great! Very happy with my purchase!

by:

Great Product - Fits perfectly on my Mini Cooper S. I purchased to extend a MiniDoMore Hidden Hitch, which previously required crawling under the car to attach accessories. Now it is much more useable with the hitch extender installed. This was the perfect size to put the hitch tube just an inch or two beyond the bumper to allow easy access to insert hitch pin and clip as needed.

How do you attach the extension on the hitch behind the bumper? Was it difficult to get in behind the bumper? Do you remove the extension frequently or just leave it in place?

Anonymous

I bought the extender exactly because it is such a pain to access the hitch pin behind the bumper. It is doable but requires lying on the ground under the car to reach it. Now I leave extender in semi-permanently.

I have a bicycle rack that was a little to close to the back of my wagon with the bikes mounted on it. This product gave me the extension that I needed to create enough space to provide clearance and prevent damage to the back of my vehicle. I think it's great

The best thing about using etrailer is that you can select your exact vehicle and then the parts that perfectly fit your car are displayed. The quality of their products is also top notch.

Hitch and extender arrived within 4 days of order. Super easy install. Great products and E Trailer kept me informed from day one. Great Service, will deal with these folks again.

Product works great, easy to use, solved clearance problem with external mount spare tire

by:

Purchased this extender to use on my daughter's RAV4 which has the spare tire mounted on the rear hatch/door. The extender allowed us to use our two bike hitch rack without interference from the tire. Without it, you can only use the outer tray of the rack as the tire gets in the way of mounting a bike on the inner tray.

Good product that served it's intended purchase purpose.

by:

I had a factory installed hitch put onto my car by the dealer. They had "looked up my bike rack on line to make sure it would work". They said it would, but it didn't. The lower hinge didn't clear the bumper preventing me from getting into the trunk while the bike rack was on my car. I spent an entire day driving all around town looking for a solution to my problem even asking a friend of mine if he could weld something to the hitch to extend the receiver just a few inches. He suggested that I purchase this product.

The extender solved my problem and prevented me from having to have something custom built. The folks at etrailer kept me posted as to when my purchase would arrive and were very friendly. I would recommend etrailer.com for their great customer service.

Thank you!

I asked Juanita on the phone what I needed, and she recommended this hitch extender. Two days later it was in my hands. Perfect fit, just what I needed. Thanks for the guidance and speedy service. Perfect !!

Still performing very well. Great product. We use it to connect our bike carrier to the receiver.

by:

Excellent product. I use it to extend the receiver on our fifth wheel trailer, allowing
the bike rack to easily attach to the back of the trailer. The receiver on the trailer is recessed, and because of the style of bike rack, it would hit the back of the trailer.

by:

Had a trailer hitch installed on my 2012 Fiat 500. This Item is heavy, well made and made it possible to shorten up the length of an existing bike rack. etrailer is the only site that carries a quality extension.

by:

It does not accommodate one of the Polaris ATV hitches, the one inch drop. I like the extension but the distances from the female pin hole on the extension to the male hole on the Polaris hitch are off by about a quarter of an inch. The seam weld on the Polaris hitch gets in the way. Polaris ATV hitch with a 3 inch drop may accommodate this or perhaps a Kolpin hitch...not sure yet. If I cannot figure it out I will send it back. Polaris makes no ATV extensions for hitches, which for the 550 X2 are a must.

by:

Exactly what I needed. I've been using an adapter for my bike rack for years, but the opening was for a 2 inch receiver. Therefore, had to use a spacer. Although that worked, it always seemed like there was a lot of extra movement with the rack. With this extender, the bike rack fits much more snugly. I received my order within about 4 days of ordering!

by:

Excellent short 1.25" hitch extender. Used this with a hitch from Outmotoring.com for a Mini Cooper and a bike rack. Most of the hitch extenders out there are too long to keep in the hitch when the bike rack isn't attached. This one comes just outside the bumper cover and is perfect! Thanks again etrailer.com! What great service, such a great product and terrific customer service. Thanks AAA+++

by:

Quick delivery, the right product for my mini since i attached it to a hitch add-on from e-trailer (not available by other manufacturer) it doesnt stick out as much as others in the market and they provide the correct size pins for the extension.

Functionally it is working fine, but the paint has all come off and is very rusty. I am going to have to grind it all down and repaint it.

by:

This hitch extender was just what I needed to connect my Thule bike rack to my hitch. Now the rack clears my oversized bumper perfectly and I can still get into my trunk with bikes loaded. Customer service helped me select the correct hitch extender for my vehicle's year/model, answered all my questions, and made sure that I ordered the accessories I needed for a quick installation. The entire process was a breeze -- thank you very much!

Product works great. We use it for our bike rack.

by:

Spent a lot of time researching these hitch extenders. This was a perfect fit for my 2014 Chrysler 200. I added a class 1 hitch but needed the extra length so the trunk clears the bike rack when dropping convertible top. Ordered ecomony shipping but arrived pretty quick and great tracking shown on product.

by:

Excellent service!!! Very quick delivery! Great product!!
My hitch was very close to my car, causing me to use a drop hitch. This made the trailers I could haul limited because it was low. By buying this extension, it allows me to turn my drop hitch up and now I can haul different kinds of trailers without bottoming out the tongue.

by:

  • Is there Clearance for Installation of a Hitch Bike Rack on a 2011 Subaru Forester
You would most likely need an extension to be able to use a bike rack with only 4-1/2 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest part of the carrier. We have a video of a hitch installation on a 2010 Subaru Forester, see link, that shows the hitch pin hole on that vehicle ends up about 7-1/2 inches back from the farthest out part of the rear bumper. You would only need about 3 inches of extension, so the Brophy Hitch Extender, # hes6, with 6 inches of extension would work...

In regards to Stabilizing Straps # 18050, these are no longer required by Curt, simply recommended for some hitches. The Curt hitch isn't beefier than the Draw-Tite, as both are a Class...

That means the combined weight of the carrier, # C18145 at 29 pounds, and the cargo cannot be greater than 175 pounds. In this scenario you would take 175 and subtract 29 to get 146 pounds. That 146 pounds is the most amount of weight you could put on the carrier. If you go with an extender use # hes6 because...

Interesting solution you thought of there to get extra clearance. There should be no issue with the Swagman Current # S64678 when it is folded up, but when it is down and bikes are mounted, that's a different story.
