Hitch Extender and Recommended Locks Compatible with Class I Trailer Hitch

Question:

Can you please tell me what the distance is from the innermost edge that will drop into my existing 1-1/4 inch receiver to the center of the closest hole that will secure it? I think its 1-1/2inch from the diagram but want to make sure. Also, what is the diameter of this hole/what size locking pin is needed, and can you suggest a strong locking pin/combo for it?

The distance from the hitch pin hole center on end that slides into the hitch receiver to the nearest end of extension # hes6 is approximately 1-1/2 inches. I assume you are asking this because you have a Class I trailer hitch. It will fit a Class I trailer hitch.

The pin holes are standard size for 1-1/4 inch accessories, 1/2 inch. Tow Ready lock # 5200 is the most popular standard hitch lock for 1-1/4 inch hitches. But I like our etrailer.com lock # e98879 because it will be flush against the hitch or accessory and has a cover for the key hole to keep out debris and moisture.

Please note that the use of an extension will reduce the tongue weight capacity of the hitch by 50 percent. The extender has a 175 pound capacity itself so if the reduced capacity of the hitch is lower you will still go by the lower amount. If the reduced capacity is greater than 175 pounds then you are still limited to 175 pounds.
