This convenient starter kit has everything you need to tow minus the hitch. Includes an 7-1/2" long, powder coated ball mount with a pre-torqued hitch ball; hitch pin and clip; hitch receiver lock with keys; hitch cover; and a storage case.There were some UPS delivery issues, damaged in shipment. But, etrailer.com jumped right on sending out another shipment after it was apparent that UPS would not complete the delivery.
The installation took longer, maybe 1-1/2 hours, because I did not have all my tools ready and I was working on the concrete floor in the dark to outside with a portable shop light. Everything fit well and it looks great.
The 2" drop ball mount was the perfect height for my 2019 Toyota Highlander Hybrid. I love the look of the Curt black insert that makes the hitch looks like it belongs on the car, nothing embarrassing at all.
Anything negative? Maybe. The flat plate was a little difficult to hook onto with the UHaul safety chains on a 5x8 trailer. That's hardly a negative, though, and I wouldn't have spent more on another brand choice because of this. Happy happy!
Great fit and finish on this kit. So nice to be able to tow things with my Forester now. I thought I had an issue but figured out it was user error pretty quick, but only after I contacted etrailer for help. I heard back within 30 minutes of emailing and by that time I figured out my blunder. They were extremely helpful and responsive and were set on fixing the problem I thought I had. I have used etrailer for several different purchases over the past couple years and every time I have been thrilled with the service and the quality of product.
Excellent receiver kit! Combined with the curt trailer hitch and the oem Mazda trailer harness add on, this is legit!
While I haven't yet used it, this kit seems to be exactly what I need. Fit and finish are excellent, and packaging is most convenient for those of us who only occasionally use a hitch and want to store the kit when not in use. Thanks! Highly recommend.
As always, Curt products are well built. The style and finish are beautiful. Never have any problems with fitment.
Searching and ordering online was a breeze. My only complaint is the search filter. It is not very user friendly.
This kit has everything you need and more. I especially love the locking hitch pin. I use a lot of public boat ramps and over the years I have had my hitch stolen multiple times. With this locking pin, I wont have to worry about that anymore.
It’s nice to not need to torque the ball onto the hitch.
It’s as advertised, a hitch assembly. I do like the rubber hitch hole cover, it has a snug fit. The lock seems kind of weak at first use but I’ll give it time.
First time installing a hitch receiver went really well with the included instructions and videos. If I need to get another receiver this will be my place to go!
This started kit has everything you need in one nice package to get towing! Very nice to not have to piece everything together separately. And it costs much less by getting it all together in one handy package! Thank you Alyssa for all your help!

Easy installation
Does the job it’s made to do. Exactly as pictured and is great. It does take so getting used to putting the locking bar thing in and securing it.
Super easy to install! Very strong. I installed the hitch and the wiring for a trailer in about an hour. Zero problems getting it to line up. Great product.
After a slight issue that was immediately identified by etrailer, they quickly resolved it, and I received everything in 4 days. Great customer service!
Kurt towing starter kit key won’t open the pin
I'm going to be moving soon and I have a new truck. I bought a hitch kit and extendable rear view mirrors for towing. They were well packaged and delivered quicker than I expected. You get something extra with your order. What really impressed me was the people. These people clearly LOVE what they do. You get people who actually care, with every order. That's something you can't buy and they give it away with every order.
I normally keep a complete towing set in my automobiles and needed a new set for my wife's car. After some research, I decided to go with the Curt Towing Starter Kit. It’s been a year since purchasing this great Curt towing set. This car has a mobility lift installed, so I only keep the kit handy if towing is required. In the past year, I have not had to tow anything with this vehicle and the set has been stored safely in the case it came with and is still essentially new. Nice towing set!

Wow e trailer is the best it was so easy to install my hitch and wiring harness just make sure you have 1 extra person to set in the hitch and bolt up, and borrow a torque wrench if needed everything was real easy and the videos are very helpful thanks e-trailer for having the videos as well when you purchase items it makes it great. A+ for delivery too got my hitch delivered fast to with everything. Keep up the good work
Purchased this product one year ago. It's still holding up without any issues! I would definitely recommend this product. The installation process was about 3 hours being done alone.
