Notes:

  • This hitch silencer and cover is not for use on OEM (factory) hitches or on Draw-Tite Ultra Frame Class 5 hitches.

  • Some Curt hitches have a collar that is too thick to allow this to work properly.

The QSP trailer hitch silencer is the perfect accessory for your 2" x 2" Draw-Tite hitch. It enhances your towing experience by helping to reduce the free play that exists between your trailer hitch receiver and your ball mount or hitch-mounted accessory. By adding the QSP to your setup, you can stabilize your hitch-mounted accessory as it sits in the receiver to eliminate noisy rattle, jarring, vibrations, and sway that might otherwise cause damage to your hitch or equipment.

Draw-Tite QSP installationDraw-Tite QSP on a hitch receiver

Installing the QSP silencer and cover is easy. Slide the QSP bracket over the collar of your hitch receiver. Then attach the cover to the bracket with the included hinge pin.

Draw-Tite QSP installed on a hitch receiver with a ball mount

To use the QSP, open the cover and raise the lever. Then insert your accessory or towing equipment into your hitch receiver and secure it with a pin and clip (sold separately). Finally, lower the lever to tighten the QSP around your receiver and the shank of your accessory or towing equipment.

Draw-Tite QSP as a hitch receiver cover

When you're not using your receiver, the attached cover helps to keep out grime and works to deter rust. This hinged cover proudly displays the well-known Draw-Tite name on the back of your vehicle. Magnets in the cover and on the bracket help to keep the cover closed.

etrailer! Is a life saver! First I looked around to get a a hitch installed on my 2023 Mazda Cx9. To have it done by a local installer the prices were somewhat outrageous. I’ve installed a hitch on a previous vehicle, so once I found etrailer and the prices were very reasonable. I installed it with no problems, just followed their videos which made it easy!
I am just waiting on the back order of the wire harness to come in and shipped to me! One other great thing about the etrailer staff…I also ordered a anti rattle silencer! When the box arrived via UPS both ends of the hitch were sticking out of the box…when I opened the box the anti rattle silencer was not in the bag it was shipped in . Looks like UPS through it back in the torn box but didn’t place the pin needed to use the silencer. I wrote etrailer about the missing piece along with pictures. And they corrected my problem. So I highly recommend etrailer for your trailering needs!
Thanks etrailer

This hitch Silencer came with the hitch itself, but the pin that holds the door onto the assembly was missing. Contacted customer service and received one ASAP. Great great service!

by:

I would have given it 5 start but for the fact that the retaining pin was made of plastic. Easily solved: I bought a 4" stainless steel 1/4-20 bolt and locking nut for $2. Even so, the entire cost was well under other like items whose quality is probably inferior. It fit my hitch receiver well, although very tight. No problem, in fact, that was a good thing: a little silicone spray on the contacting parts and drove it in with a mallet. No more rattles!

by:

the silencer works fine for the hitches I could get it on but the two of my receivers I couldn't get it to slide on. I prefer the one with the U bolt design with nuts that you tighten from below. easier to install and much more effective as well.

by:

When I first opened the hitch cover, the little magnet (that is supposed to hold the cover closed) immediately fell out. After gluing the magnet back on, the hitch cover fit nicely, and the magnetic closure worked. However, this hitch cover does not work with a hitch mounted bicycle rack that has its own integrated hitch pin, as shown in the attached photo. The integrated hitch pin prevents the lever on the right-hand side from closing and tightening the hitch cover. Seems like a decent product for use only with a hitch that uses a separate hitch pin and clip.

by:

I really only use this hitch for my Thule bike rack. It works grate for that! It is strong enough that I can jack up the rear of the minivan and not cause any damage. No rust yet after 20k miles in Western NY.

by:

Did the job as advertised. I have a casket cargo carrier on my car and when it isn't loaded it rattles. This item fixed that. I did choose to put in a wood shim under it. The issue is simple physics. The hitch has an X and a Y axis. A hitch lock can lock one or the other. It did a great job taking away the slack and rattle on the X (side to side) axis. A wood shim silenced the Y (up and down) axis. Recommend this for everybody with a hitch.

by:

I had no idea how this would attach to the receiver, but it is much better than expected. There is metal inside of the back part of this cover and a flip-lever so you can slide it on and attach it. Nicely made.

by:

As usual, great quality and great customer service and great shipping speed! Great product—two 72 year old women installed it on the front of our motorhome before a trip to Alaska. Wish we’d taken spares with us because we could have SOLD THEM all along the way. LOL.

by:

I love this device. I use it for my hitch mounted ebike carrier. The rack plus the bikes is pretty heavy and this hitch silencer gives me the peace of mind that the rack won't rattle too much. Very solid!
Since I don't leave the rack on all the time, this piece makes it so much easier to take it on and off. The other kind of anti-rattle hook up was a heavy metal plate that I had to bolt on each time I needed to use it and same to take it off. Here I just flip the lever and I'm good to go.
Also since it stays on the hitch all the time it makes a nice cover.

by:

While it does help reduce rattling and movement, the tightening lever seems to make the item sit cockeyed when tightened. This makes it somewhat tricky to feed the hitch or whatever, into the receiver and align the holes. Not a huge negative, but something to be aware of. Of course, it is hard to beat for the price. One more minor point, I received it without the pin to attach the dust cover, when informed, etrailer sent a new item out right away, so thumbs up for customer service.

by:

I really like this thing. Always on so won't miss place it. When hitch is in it stops the wobble. Kept closed when no hitch in by a magnet.

by:

This is my fourth hitch from E-Trailer, inlcuding the one for my daughter, and their hitches are all perfect fits. Right accessories too, and also fabulous are their youtube how-to videos.

by:

Unfortunately my hitch was not a Draw-Tite brand. I was not able to use the cover.

by:

I like this thing. Reduces the play in the hitch receiver. Less noise on bumps. Also gives a more finished look to the receiver.

by:

Works as expected, fits on my factory hitch, looks great on my vehicle! And the bonus is exceptional customer service from etrailer.

by:

Website needs to be more specific that it only works as described/fits Draw-Tite 2" recievers.

by:

This cover is great. It completely prevented any rattling at the connection point. It also keeps your hitch reciver cleaner and looking sharper when you're not towing. Also prevents you from smashing up the hitch receiver, which aids in preventing any rusting. We towed a 6'x12' trailer that weighed almost 6000 lbs packed, from PA to FL with zero noise or rattling the entire trip, thanks to this cover/silencer. Great product for the money.

by:

Love the product and figured it would fit my Draw-tite hitch I purchased from etrailer and installed on my 2013 Ford Explorer XLT. it does not fit properly. I believe a weld on the top lip of the receiver is stopping it from sitting properly. Very very tough to get on and then once on it doesn’t sit flush on the receiver and I can’t get the hitch ball bathe in. Feeling disappointed. Is there a resolution? Emailed Matthew M with info and pictures but have not gotten any response yet. Please advise.

by:

The bolts supplied with this hitch are very poor quality. I could not get them to bite on the threads of the Toyota Frame Rail. Which led to 2 hours of me trying to get these bolts threaded into the holes. I finally got the idea to use the 2 Toyota Bolts that were the same size and were holding on a towing point that had to be removed first, before installation of hitch. The Toyota bolts went right in, no problem. Proving that the issue was the threading of the poor quality bolts that came with this hitch. I would suggest paying more for a name brand hitch, or going to Toyota and purchasing (2) additional 17mm frame bolts that hold on the rear towing point. The Toyota bolts are much better quality. The second issue I had was the hitch arrived pretty beat up and missing some paint. Etrailer did not do enough in packaging, a cardboard sleeve over the receiver could have helped to protect the paint. The hitch only had protective cardboard around the square tube, none on the receiver hitch or the wings that bolt to the frame. Etrailer customer service is amazing and their instructional install videos are the best. I really like the website and the helpful install videos, they are the best in the business. If I had it to do over, I would just buy the name brand hitch, hoping it had better hardware and packaging.

by:

Satisfied with my purchase. No longer have to put my hitch cover in and out. Just flip it open and put the ball mount in. Functional and looks good!

by:

An excellent addition for trailering! No more clunking when starting, stopping, or turning! Easy to install and move from hitch to hitch. A simple design with fast shipping and superb customer service as always.

by:

This item does a great job reducing vibration for bike racks and cargo carriers. I've not used it for towing. When there is nothing connected to the hitch, I find that the door does not stay closed very well. Also, I typically remove the door as it interferes with unlocking my hitch pin. I'm pleased with the performance of this product.

by:

It doesn’t fit with the e-bike rack I bought at the same time elsewhere. So I can’t really judge if it works or not. But it doesn’t work at all for me.

by:

Shipping was extremely fast, some of the hitch protruded through the box and some of the powder coat was rubbed off. The hitch seems to be extremely strong and could pull my little Subaru in half. Haven't got it on yet waiting on my son in law to help!! Thanks again. Would recommend to anybody!!

  • Can Draw-Tite QSP Trailer Hitch Silencer and Cover be Used with Reese SC Weight Distribution
I spoke with my contact over at Draw-Tite and he said that you can use the QSP hitch silencer # 63080 with a Reese SC weight distribution system. But you would want to take the cover off by removing the pin because it could cause interference in some cases. This device will fit Draw-Tite, Hidden Hitch, and Reese 2 inch trailer hitches and we have confirmed that it also fits a Curt 2 inch trailer hitch. But it is not a fit for factory installed trailer hitches.

  • Can The Draw-Tite QSP Trailer Hitch Silencer and Cover Be Used Without The Door?
Technically speaking? Yes, you can use the Draw-Tite QSP Trailer Hitch Silencer and Cover # 63080 without the cap. However, the cap will keep gunk and road grime from getting inside the hitch so it is a good idea to keep it on there. Plus I would misplace either the cap or the pin to hold it in place, or both. So I do recommend keeping it on there.

  • Draw-Tite QSP Anti-Rattle, Trailer Hitch Silencer and Cover Not Fitting Curt Trailer Hitch
What is probably happening is that the collar around the receiver opening on the Curt hitch has a very thick powder coat that is preventing the Draw-Tite QSP # 63080 from fitting properly. If you were to sand away some of the powder coat on the collar it would likely fit. That would be easier than trying to modify the QSP. It goes without saying but make sure that the cam tightening lever on the QSP is open when trying to install it on the hitch.

  • Recommendation to Reduce Aluminum Ball Mount Wear Due to Steel Hitch Receiver
The Draw-Tite QSP Trailer Hitch Silencer and Cover for 2" Hitch Receivers # 63080 is the closest thing we have found to what you are seeking. This plastic part does serve as an anti-rattle and will reduce that wear from the softer metal. There isn't a plastic sleeve reducer for the inside of the receiver as that would break down and eventually either change towing capacity or create rattle.

There wouldn't be any interference between the Draw Tite QSP hitch silencer part # 63080 and the J-Pin part # 63201 but they would be a bit redundant as they both do the same thing which is remove movement and rattle from the ball mount they are used with.
