How to Measure the Rise/Drop of a Ball Mount

The ball mount measurement? Where do I measure to get this number? Top of the ball or at the point where the base of the ball meets the ball mount? Thank you

The find the rise/drop of a ball mount you will measure from the top of the shank to the place where the ball mount platform meets the hitch ball (see attached picture).

For example, the Curt Towing Starter Kit # C45534 comes with the hitch ball installed in the "drop" position which measures 2".
