What's up everybody, it's AJ with etrailer.com. Today we're gonna be checking out this Curt hitch lock for a two inch hitch. And what this is gonna do is lock up your ball mount or your bike rack or your cargo carrier that you put back here. That way nobody can mess with it when you're not around. Let's check it out. The cylinder lock has a dust cap that keeps any dirt and grime from getting in there and messing up the key so you can't use it when you need to.
It unlocks really easily. You just put the key in. Just like that. Now the only part that's a little difficult, is it will turn as you go to turn the key. So you can see that you can't just turn it like that.
So you probably put one hand on that to hold it in place and the other one to turn the key to unlock it. Then you can remove it. So it's not super difficult. It just, it spins with you. So you want to make sure you hold that in place while you turn the key.
But otherwise, really easy. It goes right back together. Turn the key to lock it back up. It's gonna be chrome-plated. The inside here is gonna be steel construction.
So it's gonna last when you leave it on your ball mount out in the weather, and the elements aren't gonna bother. It's not gonna rust and corrode. And as far as dimensions go, the whole thing overall from end to end is gonna be five and a quarter inches. The inside pin length right here is gonna be two and 13 sixteenths inches. And then the pin diameter is gonna be five eighths of an inch. The benefits of it being a cylinder or tube-style lock mechanism, is that it's gonna be harder to pick and is resistant to drilling. So you have that protection. If somebody was to go all the way to try and mess with it or break it, they're gonna have a lot of trouble doing that. It's gonna come with two keys so you can put one on your key ring or put one inside the truck. That way you always have a spare just in case you lose one. But otherwise, I think this lock's gonna be a great addition to your ball mount or your bike rack, cargo carrier, whatever you're putting in your back hitch of your two inch hitch, it's gonna fit right in there and lock it up tight so nobody can mess with it. Chrome plating resists rust.Of all the products I ordered from Curt Mfg., I was least satisfied with this hitch receiver lock. It fit the receiver hole and the ball mount hole well. And the manufacturing quality is very good. But...when I ordered it I was under the impression it would be sized to a 2 inch receiver. There is more than a 1/4 inch of side to side play in the pin with the locking head installed. Just another rattle spot. This product is also made in China, something I did not expect from Curt Mfg.

Hi Robert, Thank you for your feedback. This hitch lock is just a locking pin and does not have any anti-rattle features to it. If youre looking for an anti-rattle device that is also made in the USA, I recommend the Roadmaster Quiet Hitch for 2 Trailer Hitches, part RM-061.
