What Is Towing Capacity Of My 2015 Toyota Highlander XLE
Question:
I have a 2015 highlander XLE without the towing package. I added a 2” hitch, wiring harness and 7 way with brake controller, but I don’t know what my towing capacity is. Can you help?

You must always go with the lowest maximum weight between your hitch receiver and your vehicle's towing capacity. Your 2015 Toyota Highlander XLE has a maximum towing capacity of 5,000 lbs. Your Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2", part # C13200, is a Class III hitch receiver with a maximum tongue weight of 900 lbs and a maximum gross trailer weight of 6,000 lbs. Since the maximum towing capacity of your Toyota Highlander is lower, that is the weight you must use. If you already have a ball mount you will be ready to tow. If you need a ball mount you might like the Curt Towing Starter Kit for 2" Hitches - 2" Ball - 3/4" Rise, 2" Drop - 7.5K, part # C45534. This ball mount has a 3/4" rise or a 2" drip.
I have included a product description link, an installation link, and some helpful articles about towing below.
