Karrier S-Trail Radials with Automotive-Grade Tread

Kenda Karrier S-Trail Tread Vs Standard Tread

Unlike standard trailer tire tread, which has solid, continuous ribs, the automotive-grade, computer-generated tread on these Karrier S-Trail radials has ribs with breaks. These breaks allow water to run off to the sides. The Karrier S-Trail tread also has sipes. Siping is a process in which thin grooves (or sipes) are cut into the rubber of the tire. The grooves channel water away from the tread so that the tire makes better contact with the road. Both of these features greatly improve traction during wet, snowy, or icy conditions.

Karrier S-Trail radials are constructed with double steel belts and full nylon plies for increased durability and endurance. The premium rubber compound materials of this tire help disperse heat.

Beveled Stud Holes

Beveled Stud Holes Front and Back

The stud holes on this steel wheel are beveled to ensure that the wheel stays tight against your trailer hub. This also eliminates the need to constantly retorque the lug nuts.

Radial Tires vs. Bias Tires

Radial tire vs bias tire graphic

Radial ply tires are designed for trailers that are towed on the highway. The cords on a radial tire are positioned at a 90-degree angle to the direction of travel so that they lay across the width of the tire from wheel lip to wheel lip. This construction prevents the cords from rubbing against one another when the tire flexes, unlike the cords on a bias ply tire. As a result, radial tires have less rolling resistance and heat buildup, which leads to a longer tread life and improved steering at higher speeds.

Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

I needed tires for my 600LB popup camper. I wanted steel belts in tire because I've had better luck with them holding up better over the years. These tire look and fit good. So time will tell how they hold up.

Not a year yet, but vacation Jan 2024, took me over 2000 milestotal on these tires , Northern Indiana to Sebring Florida and back. No problems with tires.

by:

Bout a yr after getting tires and using them on my boat trailer, they have performed well! Probably 5000 miles, and almost no wear. Good purchase.

by:

Tires were boxed together and were heavy and bulky. It would be much easier for everyone to handle.Try picking up the box with 2 tires in it!

by:

Arrived quickly and in good condition. Put them on a 1,000 lb teardrop trailer and just returned from a 750 mile trip. Seemed to be fine at highway spees (70+) as well as curvy mountain roads. Time will tell, but I hope these tires are overkill for my application.

Good information and follow-up from very knowledgeable e-trailer staff. Radial tires for small trailer was wonderful upgrade. Always great service from e-trailer.

Very pleased with radial tire upgrade.

by:

The service is very good. They shipped the very next day and delivery was very fast.
The parts was excellent and fit perfectly.

by:

Tires work great, I had them balanced and tow nice.
In photo that’s bias ply on left, not much difference in sizes

by:

From the moment these arrived, I could tell they were better than what I had been using. I have had 3 tires blow in the last few years with my camper. They all have had good tread left and no obvious reason why they blew. But, these Kenda tires showed that there was just a better tire out there. Going from my previous camper trailer tire to these was like going from your spare to your regular car tire. These handled great on our first outing. I have a TPMS tire sensor on my tires and, compared to my previous tires, the pressure and temperature of the tires didn't increase nearly as much during the drive. It was also great to have a higher speed rating so I could go the speed limit (70-75mph) and not be over the speed rating of 81mph. While I have only had them for 1 trip, I hope to rely on them for lots of future trips with much more peace of mind.

Fast turnaround time from order time! Received our delivery in 3 - 4 days. Excellent communication. We were quickly advised of receipt of the order, shipping and expected delivery date. The order got delivered a day before the stated delivery date. Great job!!!

Since I live in a medium size city I use the internet a lot to order goods. Recently I concluded I needed new tires for my 1995 boat trailer I use for my Aluma Craft boat. However popular tire sizes have changed substantially since 1995. I had problems finding the right size for my trailer. Plus I wanted to order rims with the tires so I could install them myself. Fortunately I found etrailer.com which had the right size available at a very reasonable price. I ordered and had my rims and tires within a few days. They are in excellent condition and have been installed. What a pleasant ordering experience. I give etrailer.com an A+ for service, availability, and price!

by:

We are very pleased with these highly rated tires, will buy them again when needed. After experiencing a blow out with lesser tires, we did a lot of research and came up with this tire, found the best price and service on eTrailer.com. Over 1000 miles on these tires so far and they still look new.

by:

This is the third time I have ordered from etrailer and each time the customer service has been excellent. I put new tires on 2 boat trailers and could not be more pleased with the tires and the quick delivery! Thank you!

by:

Very quick and easy to order

by:

Fast shipping, good looking product

by:

I needed to replace my old trailer tires. I wanted tires and rims. I am very pleased I found this item. This has a slightly higher profile than my former tires that were also 12". I had the room in my wheel well. Not problems installing.

by:

Yet to road text these tires. Purchased these to replace the bias ply tires that came with my Harbor Freight 1720 pound trailer. The fit was perfect with just enough space between tire and trailer.

by:

Very good customer service. We ordered the wrong tires for our Camper online. I called but the orginal order had already shipped. They were able to get the right tires out and we received both orders the very next day. Took the wrong tires to UPS and shipped them back to them. We were going camping on Friday so having the quick turn around was fantastic. We ordered them on Wednday, received them on Thursday, put them on the camper so we were ready to go on Friday. Great job! We were frantic trieing to find the right tires for out camper and they came through with flying colors. I have told everyone I know that has a trailer or camper about the extra ordinary service.

by:

Arrived as scheduled. Upgraded retrofitted jetski (kayak) trailers bias tires to these radials. Bearings and tires were the first items to check off tight lines all.

by:

Had a boat trailer tire (NOVA METRIC RADIAL M+S 155R12 76S) go flat which led me down a slippery slope of not finding a replacement. Fortunately, by entering the tire info into a search it led me to etrailer.com where someone else with a similar trailer tire was able to get this new replacement tire and rim with an actual better load rating than the old tire. Decided to replace both trailer tires & they arrived earlier than original estimated shipping arrival date & I am pleased with these tires!

Quite honestly the new tires mounted on new rims were not immediately mounted on my son’s river boat trailer. Due to procrastination he waited until the fishing got good & went to fetch his boat that one of his old tires had a major blowout, which then forced him to install the two new tiresrims. Fortunately, I haven’t heard of any issues since then!

by:

I ordered these tires for a pop up that we have. I needed them in three days. I paid $[XX] for shipping and didn’t receive the tires until six days later. I’m not a happy camper. I called customer service and spoke with them about this issue. They have not refunded my shipping money yet.

by:

Thanks for the great service! The evidently hard to find ST145R12 D tires are on my pop Up. Rims were superior to what I was replacing and what I expected. I'm looking forward to trying out the tires very soon.

by:

Great service I did not know the difference between a bias tire and a radial! Apparently the radio is what you want if you're going to go cross country thanks again to e trailer.

by:

Quick delivery, well packaged and better than average product.

by:

Excellent experience, wheels package very nice and no damage at delivery.

  • What is the Difference Between the Kenda S-Trail and Kenda KR25
The Kenda Karrier S-Trail # AM31199DX are going to be a more basic, white spoke wheel which is just going to give basic rust protection. An aluminum wheel that is going to provide you with the best rust protection possible, so I recommend going with those since they're going to provide you with a much more long-lasting wheel that won't rust out.

A 5.30-12 could be used as a spare for a 145R12 tire, but it is not recommend due to the 1/2" difference in tire height. While this is not a huge size difference, it will put extra weight on the shorter 145R12 tire and can cause issues with the suspension. I recommend using a spare tire with the same overall height as your normal tires. In this case the only tire with the same overall height as your current tires is another 145R12. • Replacement Tire & 12 Inch Wheel With 5 on 4-1/2" Bolt Pattern For 155/80R13 Tire
You generally want about 3 inches of clearance from the top of your tire to the bottom of the fender, so you definitely don't want to lose another half-inch since you only have 2 inches. So I highly recommend going with a 12 inch tire and wheel combo to gain some clearance, specifically a ST145/R12, which will net you about 3/4" of added clearance. Since we do not carry any radial tires that are size 5.30-12, the next closest option is a 145/80-12 sized tire. The new tire is about 1/2 inch smaller so it will work great for you.
