Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Great customer care and service from Chris and the Etrailer employee's. Got back to me to let me know of a item was back ordered from a manufacturer, didn't try to over sell me on products, asked what I'd like to do. Helped me make changes to my purchase that I needed right away. Two days later they now have my business shopping loyalty from here on out. I can't thank you guys enough.

2003 Ford Explorer

Ordered it at 9:30 A.M on Tuesday was sitting on my front step the next evening. Am thoroughly impressed with the delivery. Installed it on Thursday evening. took about an hour, fit and finish are excellent and I didn't drop the bumper on my self. Thanks

Fit well and I have towed several times from Stroudsburg to Baltimore (a four hour trip each way).

2003 Lincoln Aviator

I bought this for my 2003 Lincoln Aviator. Plan to use it towing a 27' travel trailer and 24' boat. It looked great, even though the box was pretty beat up. One problem turned up: one of the bolt holes (curb side, top rear) was slightly out of place, and the bolt could not be installed. This was not evident until the other 7 bolts were in. Used a die grinder to open up the hole about 1/16" to the top and rear (had to take it out of the vehicle to do this). Then it went right in, and all the bolt holes lined up.

The receiver is working great. Have been using it to tow 28 travel trailer and 5x8 utility trailer modified to carry canoes. Second retorque of the mounting bolts resulted in no movement.

Perfect fit that I was able to install myself!! If needed another trailer hitch I would certainly buy from here again!!

by:
2003 Ford Explorer

I purchased a hitch with a 2 inch receiver for my 2003 Ford Explorer because the factory installed hitch only has a 1 1/4 receiver. The hitch is great and very well made. I use it to pull my utility trailer. Most of the time taking yard debris to the dump. I also purchased a draw tite receiver cover with a silencer lever. That also works good. The only problem with the cover is the door to the cover does not stay closed. It appears as though the small magnet inside the door is not strong enough to keep it closed.

by:

Good product & easy install with some revisions to the instructions. 1st-When you take all 6 bolts out of the bumper it will fall on you! I assumed there were 2 in the back(to hold it on),WRONG. 2nd- The factory trailer wiring plug needs to be relocated. This simple revision would save a lot of time , frustration & hammer blows.
You will need a large assortment of 18mm tools. Fords fault, not the hitch mfg. Other tools needed-6 pack of Coors light, torch, fire ext.,fish wire & a big hammer. The 6 pack will not be needed if you move the factory plug before you start!

2005 Ford Explorer

Nice looking Drawtite hitch right out of box......fit right up to my 2005 Ford Explorer....took about 21/2 hrs to install with a dinner break in the middle. Probably would have been much easier with helper but I couldn't wait for my friend to come over....mounted below factory Class II hitch which is probably made for a bike rack...re-used factory bolts on frame rails...added new carriage bolts (kind of a pain to fish wire inside frame rail) to complete installation...I would recommend this hitch to a friend....

Perfectly fine, no issues whatsoever. Thanks

Fit perfectly! All hardware included. I did this install by myself. However, I highly recommend you use two people. But could not be a better fit. VERY impressed!

by:
2005 Ford Explorer

Overall it's a great product. I haven't had an opportunity to use it yet as I got it Friday and installed it over the weekend.

I had also called ahead of placing my order regarding the "fish wire" to see if it was included or would I need to purchase one separately. I was told it was in the installation kit. I was very disappointed when the hitch arrived and there was no fish wire. I had to move the bolt and block up the frame without the aid of the fish wire.

It was an extremely tighter fit then I expected. Since there was zero play both sides had to be slid up at exactly the same time as still needed a rubber mallet to get it in place.

Hello Buyers
This product has stood up

Outstanding, no issues what so ever, towing a #5000 boat and trailor combo with no problems. Great product, thanks very much

2002 Ford Explorer

Directions should have noted that realigning the bolt holes would be required if this was noted I would not have spent 4 hours trying to get them back into the correct position to install the new bolts.
A simple placement of the new bolts partway through from the oposite side of the frame would have kept everything in alignment before installing the hitch. Otherwise this is a fine wel built product.

by:

eTrailer professionals guided me to the correct hitch for my vehicle. The hitch was delivered in two days and the perfect fit allowed installation in approximately 45 minutes. Great product!! eTrailer provided the correct hitch, more prompt service, less expense, and a "warm fuzzy feeling" that comes from completing a job without problems. This is the opposite of my experience for a hitch I tried from my local "fast food auto parts" stores.
Thanks

2003 Ford Explorer

Heavy duty is an understatement !!
This
hitch will outlast the vehicle by 100 years. Fit as stated, over the existing light duty hitch with no drilling required. Not exactly a one man job, but plenty strong and not as visable as I thought. A good deal.

by:
2004 Ford Explorer

Fit like a glove, however for the 04 explorer you will reuse the factory bolts and add the two lower bolts to the hitch. a little banging around and it will line up about a hour job in the driveway. Arrived fast, and well packed. you will need a 18mm & breaker bar or a cheater on a ratchet to get the bolts out of the explorer.

2002 Ford Explorer

Just mounted this to my 2002 4 Door 4,0L XLT Ford Explorer. Took me about 1.5 hours as I removed the bumper and the lights first. This helped to drop in the vertical bolts. Fits like a glove great product.

  • Can a Trailer Hitch Adapter Be Used to Carry 2 inch Cargo Carrier oa a 2005 Mercury Mountaineer
There are two good recommendations for you but I would not recommend using a hitch adapter to carry a 2 inch shank cargo carrier in a 1-1/4 inch hitch. The reason is that the adapter reduces the hitch tongue weight capacity by 50 percent, and you would need to be very careful not to overload the hitch and vehicle frame, causing damage. The reduction in capacity is due to the extra torque that is applied when placing the weight farther away from the rear of the vehicle. The first recommendation...

  • Class III Trailer Hitch Installation on 2003 Lincoln Aviator
If the factory- (or dealer-) installed hitch on your 2003 Lincoln Aviator is bolted on to the vehicle frame, rather than being welded to it, then you should be able to remove it to install a larger 2-inch Class III hitch like # 75132 from Draw-Tite. The easiest way to check is to get a look under the vehicle to see how the hitch's frame brackets are attached. If they are bolted to the frame then you will be able to remove the hitch in order to install a new one. If the hitch happens to...

My research shows that your vehicle has the tongue capacity to carry the scooter and carrier, however, this is only if you do not use the adapter.
