Helpful Expert Reply:
Yes, the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75132 will accept both solid shanks and shanks that have space inside of them as long as they are 2" shanks. This trailer hitch fits the following vehicles:
2003 - 2005 Lincoln Aviator
2004 - 2005 Ford Explorer
2002 - 2005 Mercury Mountaineer
2002 - 2003 Ford Explorer 4-Door
I have linked an installation video on a 2003 Explorer as well as the installation instructions for you to reference as well.
