Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver for 2004 Ford Explorer
Question:
I am looking at the Curt Class 111 Trailer hitch for my 2004 Ford Explorer and see that the one shown hangs below the existing trailer hitch. Is there a hitch system that I could totally remove the factory unit and use the new hitch system alone?

Expert Reply:
Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # 75132 and the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # C13550 are both good hitches that will install where your existing hitch is installed. We don't have any hitches that install below your current hitch, so removal is necessary.
