This is great cargo basket: solid and secure, easy assembly, well designed. The angled neck keeps the basket well away from the ground; I haven’t had any problems with it bottoming out. My first use was actually on a trip back from Florida following Powered Paragliding training. I was intending to bring back just a Paramotor (which would have stood vertically inside the basket), but ended up bringing back a whole Trike assembly! Mounted it on the basket as shown, and it rode just fine back through four states. Got a lot of looks on the way home!
I concur with an earlier reviewer that a neat trick is to use a stabilizer strap from the hitch to the corner of the basket. There is plenty of slop in the receiver when the neck is inserted, and a short ratcheting tie down cancels the rattle effectively. I’m very pleased with this purchase; and while I don’t plan to haul around anything as big as that trike, I look forward to many more years of use from it!

First look - not yet loaded up. Ordered this because the less expensive Curt (C18110) was out of stock. It seems like a worthwhile upgrade anyway, with rounded corners and better tie-down options.

Finish seems high quality. Significant play exists in the hitch receiver (Curt C11276 - gap visible in photo) to the point that I ordered a hitch immobilizer and don't plan to test the carrier with a full load until that's installed.

This Reese Cargo Carrier worked great! Our adult daughter put it together herself with no problems. It worked great on the back of our Subaru Outback on our weeklong trip. We look forward to using it for many more years.

by:

Very happy with the product and the top-notch service and support from etrailer. The cargo carrier is well-built, looks good, and was easy to assemble. We've traveled over 5,000 miles with it over the past two months. The upward-curved attachment rod is a plus for our low-riding Mazda 3 hatchback; we've only scraped a few times so far and the carrier was unscathed. Good results. Pro tips: get a ratchet strap and secure one side of the carrier to the rear tow hook on your car - this adds great stability (no wobbling); also consider some reflective tape.

by:

I'm very happy with the cargo carrier. Assembly was simple (get ahold of 2 ratchet wrenches if you can) and the unit is sturdy and appears well made. I had an old carrier that didn't have the raised arm and it was constantly scraping the ground when going up and down curb cuts like driveways and such. This design is much better. Also, this carrier has tons of tie-down locations which is very important. And etrailer is a great company to deal with -- fair pricing and great service. I purchased several items from them over the years and have always been very satisfied .

by:

Good quality construction and materials. Easy to assemble.Works like it should.

Would have been much if the cargo carrier was made in the USA; however it works great and fit great

Here are a couple pix of the cargo carrier I ordered & installed on my 1988 Corvette. Feel free to use them in your advertisements.

Like many of you I read all the reviews about this Cargo Carrier (63155) Light kit (20174), and net (7330) some were negative some were positive. Here is what I found with my order. When I first opened the box I found everything I ordered was in the box, however prior to receiving this package I had an email sent from one off the employees letting me know the order was packed everything was in stock and was shipped with the tracking information. (I was impressed with this and was impressed even more when a different employee sent me an email to let me know that the package was delivered so I knew to look for it when I got Home.) Ok so the Cargo carrier a real nice thick coat of black glossy paint. Looks great. There was a small amount of assembly which didn't require reading the enclosed direction because it was very obvious what went where. Very nice carrier. The light kit was packed in a bag if you read the reviews some were complaining about not enough wire and wire ties (tie straps) I found there was plenty of each but you will need to plan out the routing before you use your tie straps. The light kit is very easy to install took 4-5 minutes. The light kit is in my opinion an important add on because of the vehicle lights being partially or even fully blocked when the cargo carrier is loaded it offers brake, turn signal, and running lights the same as your vehicle would do. I highly recommend it. lastly the cargo net it really cool the hooks are easier to put on then the video online shows them to be. Overall if you need a carrier that is a class II 20 X 48 1 1/4" this is an excellent buy both price and quality.

by:

Easy to assemble plus the angled shank gave me just enough clearance on my 2017 Bolt when backing out of driveway.

by:

Think its going to get a lot of use! Son installed the hitch in 25 min. carrier was easy to assemble, and will get a lot of use!

fit in hitch could be tighter. On man said push it to the hilt and drill the hole for the lock while its not teetering. Possibly run one in and add an extra hole?

by:

I haven't used it yet but the assembly was very easy. Videos on the website were excellent. Only issue was it was shipped separate from the rest of my order. A quick email to customer service and everything was great.

Used the carrier on a trip. Worked out perfectly. Small enough to not be in the way yet large enough to hold what needed

Hitch Cargo Carrier allows me to carrier allows me to carry several fuel containers outside my vehicle avoiding probable spills and fumes. The carrier rides high which keeps it from bottoming out when I travel over dips and small ditches.
It has a slight wobble even with the special hitch pin I purchased. However this has presented no actual problems.
This carrier is heavy and I consider it a good investment.

by:

Bought this cargo carrier a year ago for our 2017 Buick Encore. We were moving from Tennessee to North Dakota and I needed just a little more hauling space. What I love about this hitch mounted carrier is the angled post that sticks into the hitch. The hitch on a 2017 Encore is already pretty low to the ground, so having this increase in height is very welcome. I stowed up to 6 large Rubbermaid totes on this carrier with no problem. Just took a trip last month with only 3 and this still allowed me to open the back hatch without taking the totes off. Great product, easy to assemble and turns a small SUV into a very capable vehicle.

by:

I bought this carrier a year ago and it continues to perform well. I use it on an 07 Toyota Solara. I had previous carriers that were too low to the ground when loaded and it bottomed out. This one also has a rise to it and it never bottoms out. I actually called and spoke to customer service and they recommended getting this one and actually helped even more by explaining since it was the correct size for my receiver and I didnt have to use an adapter anymore, that i could use its full weight load. This was the solution. Also keep in mind the positioning of your exhaust, if you add a bag and go on a long trip, it could melt, but that is not due to the design of this product. Its an opportunity for all. I would recommend this item.

by:

Excellent product. I highly recommend this little cargo carrier if you own a small vehicle and need some extra cargo room. Easy to assemble, well built, and easy to handle and install!

Still loving it!

by:

This is a great piece! Easy to assemble and was just what I needed to haul camping gear

by:

Over the years I have purchased many items from etrailer.com and I have been very satisfied with the transactions, the usually short shipping times, the products, and the feedback. This purchase was no exception. This is the second cargo carrier I have purchased from etrailer and the same brand, although a different model. The first one had no built-in design for taillights so I mounted traditional incandescent lights. I gave that one to my daughter for her use. I purchased the LED light kit the new carrier was designed for and installed them without tools. I am impressed by the brightness of these LED lights and the fact they do not protrude beyond the frame. I had only one minor negative incident while assembling this carrier. While torquing one of the smaller bolts at 25 ft lbs the threads stripped. The nut was an internal lock nut and it did not want to come off. I had to drill the bolt head until it fell off and replaced it with a new bolt and lock nut.

by:

ENTIRE UNIT IS NOT CORROSION RESISTANCE. SEE PICTURE

Etrailer stated "hardware is not covered under the warranty as the hardware is not corrosion resistance" and recommended i contact their manufacturer.

Very disappointed.

by:

Bought this carrier for a 2018 CR-V with a 1 1/4 Honda hitch. So far so good. Easy to assemble. Seems study. Hasn't bottomed out on moderately steep driveways. Minimal side-to-side wiggle. Full sized cooler blocks the license plate but not brake lights. Low profile loads are fine. Doesn't interfere with rear hatch. Should have bought the locking pin right off the bat. Good price, excellent service online and via phone, rapid delivery. Hopefully it'll hold up.

by:

Worked out great. Needed it Friday, ordered it Monday and had it Thursday. I am genuinely impressed by etrailer's personable customer service and delivery fulfillment. This is my second purchase from here and I will probably be back to order some items to use with this cargo carrier. Do yourself a favor and order a hitch pin because it does not come with one. If you want to stack it up think about the light kit and license plate mobility. I knew the cargo on this carrier would get hammered by the elements and this past weekend on the PA turnpike, there may have been anthracite in the road mung that stowed away with us. If there is a suggested container for easy cleaning of that sort of matter, I am interested.

by:

Our order came today and it was simple to put together. We had also ordered the light kit and was able to put them on the cargo rack with no problems. Only problem that we had was when we went to put it on my wifes Suburu Forester and couldn't put the pin in as the rack didn't go in far enough. When we had the receiver hitch installed on her car, they put one on that had a stop inside the hitch so you have to watch what racks and such you try to put on it. We just made a small knotch in the cargo carrier tube, but I didn't really like doing that, so we ordered a new correct hitch from e-trailer and will hopefully be installing that this weekend.

by:

I received this carrier promptly after ordering by phone. The representative was cordial and knowledgable of product. My order arrived on schedule and in good condition. Assembly required about 15 minutes and was not complicated. I have not used the carrier, but did mount it on my Jeep Patriot.
The construction was solid with good welds and paint. I stood in the basket and shifted my weight ( 180 lbs ) ; there was minimal flex and all connections remained solid. If purchasing this unit, it should be noted that the corners are rounded and the inside dimensions will not accomodate a rigid box of the same dimensions, and instalation of light package will also reduce inside dimentions. I am very pleased with this carrier and recomend it highly.

  • Enclosed Cargo Carrier and Trailer Hitch for 2021 Toyota Camry
If you installed the Class I Curt hitch part # C11576 on your 2021 Toyota Camry you would not be able to install and use the Yakima EXO Swing Away Enclosed Cargo Carrier # Y62VR since it will only fit 2" hitches.
