I bought this to carry a Westinghouse igen4500 on the rear of my 5th wheel. So far it's been perfect for the job. The quality is very good. The carrier is sturdy and is highly adjustable. I searched for a long time for the smallest carrier that would fit my generator with the greatest weight capacity. The TorkLift, while a bit expensive, fit the needs perfectly. I had extra reinforcements welded from my trailer frame to the hitch point, added an anti-rattle receiver lock and we now have the perfect generator carrier solution. Hope this review can save others time in their search for the same kind of solution.
The Carrier is perfect, we had one previously. It perfectly fits and clears our spare tire. The Firman 4000/3200 Generator fits perfectly. We did add some damping pads under the wheels and the feet of the Generator to prevent vibration. Great security mechanism. Highly recommend this tray and other Torklift Products. Note: we rarely use the gas furnace, the exhaust is right there, heat shield blank to deflect heat if needed.
I use it for a predator 3500 inverter/generator on the rear of my fifth wheel trailer. Very secure and stable. I made a roof for it and was able to find a canvass cover that is just a little larger than the carrier. I use the generator while it is secured in the carrier.
This generator tack is awesome. It has kept my generator safe and sound.
I put this on the back of a travel trailer to carry a 4500w generator. It did the job just fine after I chopped off the main hitch rail and welded on a longer one. It was too short to reach the hitch mounted under the travel trailer bumper. The tie down bars and locking mechanism work great. I felt the price was a bit steep but it was the best/only option I could find for my needs. I don’t regret my purchase, but if I needed another one, I would simply build it myself and save a few hundred bucks. Of course this option doesn’t exist for everyone, including myself. I didn’t have access to as many tools when I needed this product a year ago.
Excellent cargo tray for securing my Honda generator with extra room for firewood, etc.
The generator is so secure and tamperproof that thieves will look for an easier target.
etrailer never disappoints. Shipping was fast and TorkLift is just as I expected. It went together very easily and feels sturdy and safe to care my generator on while traveling about the country.

We traveled over 8,000 miles last year using this carrier to haul a 3500kw generator around the country while RVing and not only did it do its job perfectly, but got a lot of compliments for the security and convenience it provided.
The service at trailer is far and above anyone else in this industry. They are consistently helpful when making or researching an item. Prices are mostly comparable to the competition but the reason I buy from them is the service both pre and post sale.
Product came with a missing weld nut on the vertical bar and I had to use my own 3/8" bolt and lock nut to assemble. The weld nut on the 2nd vertical bar was full of powder coating and needed to be re-tapped. Would recommend purchasing a locking hitch pin as they include a non-locking hitch pin. If I was not mechanically inclined with my own set of tap tools, hardware and hand tools, this product would not be able to be assembled. Not sure I trust this cargo tray yet though I inspected the welds and they seem to be adequate.
I like this cargo tray for use on my travel trailer. I use it for my generator. The only issue I have is when I run the generator, my trailer vibrates like crazy. Is there a way to buffer this by adding some bushings or something?

You mentioned that when running the generator, it causes the trailer to vibrate. I recommend using anti vibration pads under each corner of the generator or you can use a large mat that goes under the whole generator. I recommend one made of neoprene rubber or cork.
Perfect carrier for a large generator. Heavy duty and secure. Love it.
This is a great cargo tray for my Champion 3500 inverter/generator. I mounted the tray to the front hitch of my truck. I also built a custom aluminum/stainless steel generator box that encapsulated the generator while fitting into the tray. Basically a bottomless gen box. The generator is locked into place by the cargo tray's lock bars and by the generator box itself. This allows me to run the generator in the rain or snow, and it dampens the generator's noise too.
Works great. Only con is its expensive but I really have not seen anything else like it. Like anything else it's not impenetrable but you just need to have something Better that other guy!
I'm disappointed in this purchase. The tray I ordered arrived late and was slightly damaged. Once I was able to set it up I discovered that the holes drilled for the hitch pin were not even. After inserting the shaft into the hitch receiver I was not able to insert the pin to secure it in place. Considering the cost of this item, no "modifications" should be necessary in order to use it.
Quality very good ,I did have to put a hydraulic Jack to one side to level it out ,no damage looks great . Either the hitch or carrier off a bit . Carrier showed square so hitch holes may be off center pin didn’t fit easily .
This product is just as described. I dont think you could buy a more well made product.
The carrier was great, nobody even attempted to get into it while i was traveling for 4 months last winter. I boondocked in some pretty shady places too! Unfortunately the Honda generator died (after 21 years of use), and the new non Honda generator I bought to replace it cannot be locked down in this carrier so now it’s just sitting in my garage.
My two Yamaha generators fit well and the locking mechanism is a sold detractor from theft. Has travelled from Colorado to North Carolina and back perfectly and will be doing it again shortly. Well worth the money spent !
I love the way the hitch carrier fits perfectly in the back of my fifth wheel. So far it has held up to what was advertised. It is secure and also looks good. I plan on putting some reflectors on it because when you are parked in a rest area, it is sometimes hard to see. At least that is what I was told by someone. Great product that I wish I had known about sooner. Thank you.
We used this traveling all over the country with our 5th wheel. It carried our portable 105lb 4500w generator with no problem at all and never moved an inch! Highly recommended!!
Don't run from the high price. This is a very sturdy, extremely well build cargo tray. The hardest part of assembly was lifing my 103 lb generator into the tray to position the bands and locks.
Easy installation and well constructed. I bought this to carry my generator on rear bumper of RV. Size is just right, not big and bulky like some of the other carriers I considered.
A great solution for transporting generators on our travel van without costly vehicle modifications.
Durable material, yet lightweight enough to easily transfer between vehicles.

One year and approximately 1,000 miles and have experienced no problems with the Cargo Carrier. The carrier has attracted several inquires from fellow RVers.
