Optional light kit sold separately. Hitch pin and clip included.This is a sturdy carrier. Welds all seem good. Paint is just fine. Steel tubing is very strong. The weight is heavy but reasonable for one person to install and remove. I plan to remove it when not in use on our trip to avoid having to fold it up and lose ability to access the hatch on our van. It has a bit of play in both the receiver and on the folding hinge. I’m going to use construction shims taped in place to reduce the wiggle but even without those, it’s not bad. Even with a jumbo cooler, we can still see the plate. This will do the trick for vacation and camping gear without having to haul a massive 60” carrier. Love the size and build.
Product came in a single box in perfect shape. Great construction, easy to put together. I bought this to go on the front of my John Deere Gator 855D. Sometimes, there just isn't enough room to pack everything you need when going down the trail or you don't feel like slinging a Honda generator and a heavy cooler packed full of ice and your favorite beverages up in the back of the bed. This cargo carrier fit the bill perfectly. It took all of 5 minutes to put it together and slide into the front 2" receiver on my gator. With the fold up design, I have 22" of clearance between the ground and the bottom of the carrier when carrier is folded out horizontal. Being the carrier is 48" wide, it is narrower than the gator, so I don't have to worry about trying to squeeze through a tight space in the woods. If the gator will go through the space, so will the carrier rack. When I don't need the carrier, it is a snap to pull the pin, swing the carrier rack 90 degrees up and pop the pin back in. Even when folded into the upright position, you can easily see over the carrier rack. Thanks for making a great product.
The cargo basket was installed in 20-minutes on my 1999 Chevy Tracker. It is a two person job one person to hold the basket and one person to line up the holes in the basket, it was easy. it took more time to cut up the cardboard packaging.
The cargo basket, when folded in the upright position has a one inch clearance from the external spare tire.
Two bungee cords are necessary to prevent the cargo unit from wobbling when folded in the upright position..

The cargo carrier attached easily. My only issue is that when tightened to the point there is no rattle to raise or lower the carrier floor the 3/4 bolt has to be loosened to align the hitch pin.
Also the instruction enclosed was confusing and appeared incorrect. Your video showed the correct way to put it together. This is what I used.

This cargo carrier arrived in just a few days and was super easy to do the final assembly and begin using on my car. Perfect for carrying my shade tent and other gear while attending my sons soccer games and allowing me to use my compact car.
Great cargo carrier! We bought it use on vacation. Have only used it once so far. But it fit everything we needed to take to the beach.
I bought this to replace one I lost while 4 wheeling while elk hunting. The pin hit a rock and the key was pushed out. Miles later it must have fallen off on a very rough road. Did not notice until we were 300 miles away. Went back to look for it and only found the key where it had fallen by the rocks I had hit. Found the pin about 5 miles away but i think someone got a freebie on the carrier.
So, because it is so handy and useful, I bought another one. It is the only thing that will carry an elk with my 4 runner. Also use it for carrying mining equipment that won't fit in my Pick up truck and for construction equipment.
It is a very stout carrier and the best I could find, with the best clearance. I tend to load it to its limits. Only "complaint" is after many miles on dirt roads it tends to rattle more (due to wear), so I just stuff a shim in the hitch to keep it quiet. Highly recommended!
Solid construction and works great on my ATV, when folded it tucks up closely and allows me to take my ATV on any trail without any problem. Take a look at my pictures and see for yourself. I'm very happy with my purchase!
Love the combo! Trailer, hitch, attachment plate, lock. I mostly carry gardening tools on trailer. So much easier to access and store tools on trailer than load then unload them from inside Highlander. Trailer also handy for carrying large materials. With strategy, crate and hand trolley, I can remove and reattach trailer solo. Am 71, 5'3"

Cargo carrier came well packed and was delivered fast. I have purchased several items from etrailer over the last couple years and have always been completely happy witht the products, price and speed of delivery. This carrier is on my 2014 CRV. It is the perfect width and gives enough ground clearance that I don't have to worry about it scraping the ground on steep driveways. Took 5 minutes to put it together and install it. I plan on using a bolt/ locknut in place of the pin assembly that controls the tilt feature to reduce looseness/ rattle when driving and also purchasing an anti-rattle hitch pin. Overall, very happy with the carrier.
It's a super cool setup and works great! My only downsize is it doesn't fold up against my rear tire on the back of my jeep, but oh well...still love the product!

HiI have jeep wrangler with spare in the way also but the gentleman for this company told me to but the 18 inch extender and it pushed it out enough to fold uo. Hopefully that works for you. best luck. it looks awesome though.

Do you have the clearance to open your back door with the carrier in the down position?

I ordered one of these for my 2002 Jeep Wrangler and am very pleased with it. I thought I was going to need a hitch extender to clear the factory spare tire mounted on the rear of the Jeep when it was in the folded up position, but found that it was not necessary. It clears the tire by a couple of inches when it's in the "up" positon.

Okay. Here’s the scoop on the Draw-Tite 20x48 Folding Cargo Carrier For 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver.
I bought it since it looked like the best choice to carry camping cargo on my 2010 RAV4. I believe I was right and that it was and is the best choice. In the “up” position it clears the rear door-mounted spare tire. No extension is needed to get it to clear the rear spare tire.
I thought that the 48” width was perfect and that a 60” wide carrier was a too wide for my RAV4. Also, the #59102 (waterproof) Rola Expandable Cargo Bag, 9.5 to 11.5 cubic feet fits PERFECTLY in this cargo carrier I had no need for a larger carrier. I just use it for camping and carrying extra gear so the back of the RAV4 is not loaded with stuff. When I’m at my destination I empty the Rola bag contents, put it inside the back of the RAV4 and put the carrier in the “up” position until I’m ready to break camp, re-load the Rola bag and move on.
I use a Draw-Tite Receiver that I mounted on my RAV4. So to hold the 2” shank firmly in the Draw-Tire receiver and keep it from rattling I got a #63201 Draw-Tite J-Pin Stabilization Pin and Barrel Lockset from etrailer. It you do not have a Draw-Tite Receiver, then this stabilization pin may or may not fit. If it doesn’t fit then—at least—you can get a #SR25219 Stainless Steel Locking, Anti-Rattle Threaded Hitch Pin for 2" Trailer Hitches from etrailer. It looks like it will accomplish the same thing if the Draw-Tite J-Pin Stabilization Pin will not fit your receiver. The Draw-Tite J-Pin Stabilization Pin is a little easier if you take the Draw-Tite 20x48 Folding Cargo Carrier on and off a lot, but it is no big deal. Anyway, the Draw-Tite 20x48 Folding Cargo Carrier folds up when you’re not using it and down when you’re using it so the point is that it is the kind of carrier that someone would get when you don’t want to be putting the carrier on and taking it off your vehicle a lot.
I suggest using Draw-Tite J-Pin Stabilization Pin or the Stainless Steel Locking, Anti-Rattle Threaded Hitch Pin, or something similar to hold the shank firmly.
But the Draw-Tite 20x48 Folding Cargo Carrier would still rattle ALL THE TIME as I drove down the road. It didn’t matter if it was in the “up” or “down” position. The reason is that the outer two holes that the included ½” safety pin goes through (this is the pin that you remove and reinsert every time you want to lower or raise the cargo carrier platform) are bigger than ½”. This is the cause of the rattle.
What was the cure? I bought a 3-1/2” x ½” hex-head bolt (not a carriage bolt!) at Home Depot. (3” is too short.) I also got a ½” nut, two ½” flat washers and one ½” split lockwasher. This replaced the included safety pin. That way I could snug down the nut on the ½” bolt and every bit of the rattle went away. This “cure” cost about $1.60.
I also recommend torquing the pivot bolt as much as you can. You’d have to be a competitor in the 'Worlds Strongest Man' competition to be able to over-torque it.
Granted, I now have to carry a pair of wrenches to tighten or loosen the nut and bolt whenever I want to raise or lower the cargo carrier platform. But on long rides it keeps me from going crazy from rattle noise. No rattle at all.
Downsizing from a GMC Envoy to a Ford Escape, i was looking for something to recover some of the space I lost for hauling. The Pro Series carrier has done the trick. I paired it with the anti rattle hitch receiver. I recommend that combo, as I literally forgot I was had anything attached behind me at times. Also, the anti rattle receiver locks,which the provided receiver does not. I chose the smaller 20x48 but it carried 3 15x20 inch plastic bins nicely. The carrier was easy to assemble, and while heavy, was easy on and off. It can be a little awkward to insert the pins reaching over or around the carrier, but its generally easy to work with. Now I must say, I also purchased the Highland cargo net, and that was a huge waste. The cargo net may work with different carriers or roof carriers,but the plastic hooks are too large for the holes in this carrier, and was too hard to use. I ended up snapping off two of the hooks before switching to some Walmart purchased bungee cords with the metal hooks. So I am all in on the carrier and the anti rattle receiver, but save your money on the cargo net.
I've used the cargo carrier on a couple of car-camping trips now, and it's just what I needed. My vehicle, a 2009 Subaru Forester, has a fairly modest max. tongue weight, so I don't dare load up the carrier with a lot of heavy things. Instead, I've got the Rola Expandable Cargo Bag that I stuff with the lighter, bulky items, and put coolers and other heavier supplies inside the vehicle. The one trouble I've had is that the second set of holes in the shank that allow for the cargo platform to fold up, parallel to the car, don't line up exactly right, preventing the lock pin from being inserted to secure it in the "up" position. I'm not quite sure yet of how I'll address that, but it hasn't been a huge problem.
Bought the Pro Series Cargo Carrier for my Jeep a year ago . Could not be happier with it . Fits just right and has been a real plus with carrying many items . This is great because a Jeep does not allow for a lot of storage for hauling things inside . The carrier also is down low enough on the hitch, so I don't have to worry about lifting items up to high to load (full cooler etc. ) . Mine folds up which I really like when not in use . Purchased a Reese hitch cargo carrier about a year ago. Have used it several times and must say its awesome addition to my vehicle. With a family of 4 I'm able to free up lots of room inside the vehicle. I would highly recommend this to anyone. Very sturdy and has plenty of tie down options.
Solid and well built. Nice powder coat finish. Purchased to use alternately with motorhome and pickup truck. Also purchased eTrailer anti-rattle receiver hitch lock, works perfectly...snugs the stinger into the receiver and eliminates all lateral & vertical movement within the receiver. Great combination. I have made other purchases from eTrailer and always get great service. They offer wide variety of products and provide dependable reviews and staff Q&A responses. In my opinion, the "go to" place for trailering and towing equipment.
Just finished a 1000 mile road trip. This carrier worked great. It did not rattle or sway.
I loaded it with about 150 pounds. I also used the waterproof cargo bag which also worked very well. I was able to avoid a $500.00 trailer rental by buying these products.
- Cargo carrier packaged well for shipping, no issues with parts
Well built product, excellent performance on first road trip
- Cargo bag kept internal contents dry as a bone through an extremely heavy rainstorm
- Paid slightly more at Etrailer than at least one competitor but service and satisfaction was well worth it.
