Recommended Trailer Hitch for Transporting 2 E-Bikes with a 2018 Toyota Corolla
Question:
Hi I have a 2018 Toyota Corolla. I would like to use this cargo carrier to transport 2 ebikes, each weigh about 55 lbs. so 110 lbs. total. Seems Toyota Corollas can only use 1 1/4 inch hitches. Will this work? What hitch should I get. Also, any ideas or parts for securing the bikes to the platform.

For your 2018 Toyota Corolla I recommend installing the the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11265 because the Draw-Tite option # 24913 has a weld-stop in the receiver which can get in the way with some accessories.
The Curt hitch then allows you to use the 20x47 Reese Carrier # 63155 for carrying your electric bikes. Plus since this carrier only weighs about 44 lbs you will be well under the 200 lb tongue weight (TW) of the trailer hitch.
To help secure your bikes you can use some ratchet straps like part # EM01416.
Using a carrier like this does make me a little nervous for the safety of your electric bikes so I do recommend using a bike carrier like the Saris Freedom # SA4412B which weighs a little less than the cargo carrier (coming in at 22.5 lbs) and is built specifically for electric bikes. It has a weight capacity of 60 lbs per bike plus you get the option of adding locks with parts # SA3022 and # SA981. I know this option is more pricey but it will be safer for your bikes.
