Video Transcript for Review of Flint Hill Goods Wiring - Wire Connectors - 44-5310A

Hello, everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at this 3/16 inch yellow ring terminal for a 12 to 10 gauge size wire. Now, this ring terminal is used for all types of electrical work where wires need fastening to a stud. Usually connects to the end of a bare wire to give a better electrical connection to apply to when you install this onto the stud. Now, this part here is designed to attach a 12 or 10 gauge size wire to a stud size of 3/16 of an inch diameter. Basically, the bare wire is what is inserted into the sleeve of the terminal, and then it's secured by crimping down on it to hold it into place.

Now, these rigged terminals are color coded using the vinyl insulation sleeve. You can see this one is a yellow color, which means it fits 12 gauge to 10 gauge size wires. They're also available in other colors, they offer a blue color, which lets you know it fits a 16 to 14 gauge size wire, and then a red color sleeve will let you know it fits a 22 to 18 gauge size wires. Basically, the higher the wire gauge number, the smaller the size of the wire. But that should do it for the review on this 3/16 inch yellow ring terminal for the 12 to 10 gauge size wire.

Works as advertised.

by:

Replaced trailer wiring over a year ago and lights still work great. No issues with these connectors. Used them in new junction box.

by:

Fast shipping and exactly what I needed to replace my OEM Trailer pigtail.

by:

connectors and breakers to hook up my brake controller arrived in order, installed easily, and lasted 1 year so far...

by:

Had this sent to the person I purchased my Used Lance 1030 from before picking it up. He said this was a Super High Quality Product! Nice and Color Coded Heavy duty terminals. His Electrician is removing the end of the Lance plug so I can just use the 7 bladed plug at the end of the bed of my truck next to my License plate (2017 F350 PSD, DRW Super Cab, 8 Foot bed)

by:

Good connector. Used it to terminate LED lighting and no problems in about a year so far.

by:

Quick service/delivery. Nothing really exceptional about these. Frankly, wish I had gotten some with heat shrink.

by:

Bought in conjunction with other items to rewire trailer.
Works as advertised.
Speedy delivery.

by:

Everything was as advertised, and thank you Kaylyn R for your wonderful customer service. It took awhile to get everything installed, because of crazy events in the past year, but it all works great!

by:

Worked well with everything downstream of the primary wiring. Just wasn't big enough for the primaries, got that at a local hardware store.

by:

Overall a good product. Easy to use and install.

The only minor issue we had was the plastic band coming loose after crimping the wire onto the connector.

by:

Everything arrived faster than I thought it would and everything looks great!!! I will be buying more when I need trailer parts in future. Things should go alright installing unless I screw it up.

by:

Odelia waited on me and was very helpful as well as professional. I certainly would order from her again and recomend etrailer to anyone who needs trailer supplies.

by:

What can I say, its a ring terminal.

by:

Not a cheap connector

by:

Exactly as described. Great to order from one supplier and have all the pieces arrive together for our project.

by:

Worked great good quality

by:

Worked as intended.

by:

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Brakes That Show Intermittent Overload Error Message on Prodigy Controller
It sounds like your Prodigy brake controller in your 2004 Dodge Ram Pickup is sensing an intermitting short in the trailer wiring. Since you have checked the brake magnets and have found them to be okay, I suggest tracing the entire brake circuit for signs of damage or corrosion. Follow the brake circuit wiring from each brake all the way to the trailer plug. Look for cracked insulation and spots where it is worn off, especially near points where the wire bends and where it comes into...

  • Wiring Needed to Rewire a Trailer for Lights and Electric Brakes
The # A40W5B has a blue wire that is only 5 feet long. Plus, the blue wire is only 18 gauge and 20 gauge, respectively. So these are not going to work for your application. What you're going to want to use is Bonded 4 Wire # 16-4B-1 which is sold by the foot. This will provide the four 16 gauge wires to run from the junction box, part # 277-000141, to your trailer's lights. Then for the brakes you will want a 10 gauge wire, # 10-1-1, which is also sold by the foot. In addition, you...

If you have already put your fuses and relay in place you will need to test the main wiring harness at the rear of your coach for power on the different wires using a circuit tester like LCD Digital Circuit Tester part # PTW2992. Do this with all lights off. Once you've confirmed any that have power pull your fuse and relay then test again if one goes cold that's the one you are looking for. If they all remain the same we can go a different route. It isn't uncommon to find that they...

  • Parts Needed to Re-Wire Trailer Brakes and 7-Way Harness
It sounds like there could be a short on the trailer. Sometimes the physical connection between trailer coupler and hitch ball will complete the ground and let the trailer's electrical functions work even when the actual wired ground is no good. In your case the opposite is happening, which suggests that something is shorting to the trailer frame. When not coupled the short will have no effect since only the wiring is connecting the truck and trailer. The issue could be caused by worn...

  • How Do The Breakaway Switch And Electric Brakes Connect To A Trailer's 7 Way
There will be two ways of getting your brakes and break away kit connected to the 7 Way plug on your trailer. First will be to simply splice the wires together, but this can be a bit of a pain as you can end up having several wires connected together. The second way, and the much easier way as well, is to use a junction box, like the Buyers Products # 3375601101. This will require you to mount the box and use ring terminals, like the # 44-5310A, to connect everything, but it is the way...

On the rear of your fifth wheel you are going to want to use 7-Pole and 4-Pole Trailer Connector Sockets w/ Mounting Bracket and Wiring # HM40975-11998 as a way to connect the two trailers. • Adding Brakes to 1994 Coleman Pioneer Chesapeake Pop-Up Camper
Trailer bearings are not listed in the specs for your 22-foot 1994 Coleman Pioneer Chesapeake pop-up but usually the axle weight rating tells us a lot about the bearings used. Since your trailer has a dry weight of 1445-lbs it probably has a 2K axle and this means the bearings are usually either # L44643 or # L44649. Hub/drum part # 8-257-5UC3 uses bearing # L44649 as the inner and outer bearing so if you pull one of your idler hubs and find that part number on your two bearings then you...

For your 3500 lb axles, I recommend starting with the Electric Trailer Brake Kit - Self-Adjusting - 10" - Left and Right Hand Assemblies # AKEBRK-35-SA. These assemblies will self-adjust to ensure you have the best braking without needing to manually adjust them every few months. Then for your 5 on 5 inch hubs, I recommend the Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly - 3,500-lb Axles - 10" Diameter - 5 on 5 # AKHD-550-35-K. They told me that you have the brake mounting flange mounted on your axle so what you will want to do is add a new hub and drum, the brakes, and wiring for your trailer, and you should be good to go. If your 7-way connectors are getting hot enough to smoke then you do definitely have a good ground! But clearly there is a circuit problem in either or both the vehicle socket or the RV plug.
