Epicord 7-Way Molded Trailer Plug - 8' Long - 277-000143

Average Customer Rating:  4.8 out of 5 stars   (92 Customer Reviews)

by:

Promising product with the terrible customer service. Order arrived damaged so the customer service initially promised the full replacement which never happened. After the delayed communication the customer service decided to process it under the warranty claim which never happened. Never recommend to do business with this company again.

by:

Cord is made of sturdy material and comes with 8' of length to attach to your trailer. The molded plug is solid and connects great to the receptacle on my truck. You will not be disappointed in this product, I also purchased a terminal box that made install a breeze and looks good too.

Excellent sturdy wiring and harness, It is still holding up strong.

by:

Exactly what was needed for the trailer. Very durable, would highly recommend this part and this company

by:

Item # 277-000143. And distribution box. Been on trailer about a year now, cord and all contacts in box have no rust or corrosion, GREAT for tracking down shorts. Lost one star because, the wires on cord are not correct colors, so had to use mutimeter to chk right connections. Would definitely recommend these products

by:

I used this cord to replace the intermittent cord on my enclosed trailer. I have been using this for over a year and it is still working fantastic.

by:

Seems like very good construction. One could only hope for more options like this with the “traditional” trailer wiring standard. I guess its Brown to Green, Purple to Yellow, Yellow to Red for me!

by:

Easy to install works great

by:

Beware! The colors don’t match up. Why the heck can’t I just connect brown with brown and green with green or yellow with yellow? The cord itself is fine, but having to open the junction box again and swap things around is irritating. If you need a new cord for a new rewire, this one is great other than the colors are off.

by:

excellent construction. Fixed my loose plug problems.

by:

The wire and plug seem to be of good quality, and it was easy to install on my trailer using some crimp tabs. It's sufficiently long to accommodate drop hitches and other unusual circumstances. So far it works great!

After a year the plug is still working great. We dont use it that often but it sits under a cover to protect it from sun and rain.

by:

I pinched my camper's original harness, cutting 3 of wires. This harness is a direct replacement. Works great.

Not issues with this trailer wiring harness after one year of use.

by:

Soldered it up and it worked fine.

by:

As it has been in the past, it is always an excellent experience shopping through etrailer.com. Products shipment fast and exactly as expected, customer service and order follow up starts immediately after the order takes place. Returning to shop with etrailer is a no brainer!

Great perfect fit, exactly what I needed after damaging OEM on a tight turn when it got pinched. ETRAILER is my no.1 place to go with fast shipping and accurate information. Thanks

Oh my goodness! I would say that this not typical to hear with this harness. Customer Service will be touch with you.

by:

It was the exact part we ordered and it fit perfect!!

by:

Very well constructed. The wires are good quality and the plug connects securely to the receptacle in my truck. The old connector had a replacement plug on it and it was shorting causing issues with the lights and brakes on the trailer. Rather than trying to put on a new plug I went with a whole connector assembly and it works great.

by:

Great coming with awesome products. Great prices and excellent customer service. Unfortunately 3 days after I wired in the 7 way pigtail I bought debre on the road rip the cord out of the truck and the asphalt ate the plug end at 75 mph

by:

Perfect! Works like a champ, for years I've used plastic conduit and electrical tape, it never holds up and looks bad. This cable and a junction box made my trailer rebuilt project look professional!

by:

Had to do a few minor modifications to get them to work, but i was happy to use your products. I thought that modifying electric brakes to work on boat trailer would involve some minor modifications.Over all i was very satisfied with the quality of your components. Thanks.

by:

Good gauge wire, prongs have lasted with out damage. standing up to the sun and dust so far has not been a problem. Gets up to 100* + Fahrenheit up in the high desert. No cracks or drying up yet. When we get snow the cable does get a little stiff with the cold. It does not get colder then 29* F out here so cant tell you how stiff it gets bellow that temp.

by:

I purchased a trailer tow electric cable for my camper.
The quality of the cord is excellent, the price is very affordable and delivery of cord came days earlier than expected. Installation was done in less than an hour.

Overall I am very pleased with the product and the customer service that I received from dealer! Will definitely be a return customer !
Dave

by:

I like this item a lot, it seems good quality and is exactly what I needed. The only downside is that the wire colors are not standard. I was aware of this from other reviews, so I made sure to verify which wire was which before connecting them permanently. As always etrailer's service, prices and selection is top notch. I give the product 4 stars, but etrailer is still 5 stars in my book!

by:

I ordered the junction box and trailer cable plug. Both arrived very quickly and were easy to install. Great company to deal with as I have ordered several times and have always had good experiences.

by:

I'm lengthening the tongue on my boat trailer, so this is a longer replacement. They changed the connections to one with two sides that the spade will slide into. I hope this works as well as the last one. This rating may change.

by:

This is a very well made trailer plug and it makes very consistent connections between the truck and the trailer.

  • Recommended Replacement Molded 7-way Trailer Plug and Cord
The Epicord # 277-000143 7-way plug you'd looked at would indeed make a better connection than something like the # H20044 that just has the single contact. Keep in mind, the wire color coding on this plug/harness might be different than what you already have, so be sure to look at the chart on the # 277-000143 product page that lists the wire colors and their purpose. Are you having issues with the plug not staying fully seated? Because the spring loaded lid for the trailer connector...

The pair has sufficient stopping power for a 3500-lb-rated axle. An example of a compatible hub/drum assembly is the Axle Tek # AKHD-545-35-K, which has the popular 5-on-4-1/2 wheel bolt pattern and that uses inner bearing L68149 and outer bearing L44649. • Making 7-Way to Camper Shell Third Brake Light Adapter
You can use 7-way trailer wiring with the module part # PP20-702 to provide power to the third brake light of your camper shell/cap. For an 8 foot 7-way plug and lead you'd want the part # 277-000143. The wire colors of this you'd run to the module are red and brown.

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Wiring Install Where Blinkers Activate Both Sides of Trailer
Sounds like you might have swapped the turn signal circuits and the running light circuit on your trailer wiring. This would cause both of the blinkers to flash when you put on either blinker. So what I would recommend you do is start over with the wiring connects. Use a jumper wire from a 12 volt battery positive post to run voltage to each of the trailer wiring circuits so that you can identify what all of the circuits are. And then use the diagram you found already to make the connections...

Since a 4 way connection does not provide you with the capabilities to control the trailer's brakes, you would need to convert your boat's 4 way connector into a 7 way using something like the Epicord # 277-000143. In order to make wiring a bit easier and more organized, I also recommend using a Junction Box like the # 38656 so that you can connect all of the trailer wires to the box and then neatly wire the Epicord to the box. If you wanted to go with something slightly shorter, like the # 277-000143 that you were looking at, you can use that 7 way and add the Junction Box # 3375601101 to complete the wiring on your 2018 Rockwood A122s pop-up camper.

The standard 7-way trailer connectors have always had the same diameter. There isn't a smaller diameter size that's out there that your trailer would have and be causing the problems you mentioned. We have the part # 277-000143 which is a 7-way that has an 8 foot long lead that would work well.
