Video Transcript for Review of Flint Hill Goods Wiring - Wire Connectors - 44-5356A

Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at this 5/16 inch yellow ring terminal for a 12 to 10 gauge size wire. Now the ring terminal here is used for all types of electrical work where wires need fastening to a stud. Usually it connects to the end of a bare wire to give a better electrical connection to that stud. Now this part here is designed to attach a 12 or 10 gauge size wire to a stud size of 5/16 of an inch diameter.

Basically, your bare wire will insert into this brass sleeve portion of the terminal and then it's secured by crimping it into place. The ring terminals, you can see, are color coded using the vinyl insulation sleeve. This one you can see is a yellow color, which means it's designed to fit the 12 gauge to 10 gauge size wire. They also offer them in a blue color, which will fit a 16 to 14 gauge size wire, and a red color, which will fit a 22 to 18 gauge size wire. Basically, the higher the wire gauge number is, the smaller the size of the wire is.

But that should do it for the review on the 5/16 inch yellow ring terminal for the 12 to 10 gauge size wire.

Works as advertised.

Works as described. Spoke with Madison about my order and she was very helpful and addressed all my questions. etrailer has always had what I needed.

by:

The manufacturer of my trailer screwed the grounding wire for the trailer into the tongue of the trailer using a self-tapping screw. That lasted about two months before the wire snapped free. Instead of having that happen again, I used this product by crimping the grounding wire to the but end and then I placed the cotter pin from the trailer coupler through the loop and the wire from that pin makes constant contact with the loop, allowing grounding. Worked like a charm and there's no tension on the grounding wire anymore.

by:

Ordered several things to hook up trailer brake controller on my 2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. Everything was promptly shipped and at a fair price.
Will use etrailer.com again, if I have the need.

by:

Im all thumbs and was able to totally rewire my trailer in an hour or so. No problems. I am legal again with my lights!! Thanks.

  • Using 30 Amp Circuit Breaker with a Ham Radio Powered by Car Battery
You can use 10-gauge wire # 10-1-1 and a 30 amp fuse, but a 30 amp in-line circuit breaker like # 38630 or # PK54530 will automatically reset if you experience a short or overload. With a fuse you would have to replace it. The 10-gauge wire is sold in 1 foot increments. There are 2 terminals on the circuit breaker. The copper-colored one labeled BAT connects to the battery and the one labeled AUX will go to your radio. You will need ring terminals like # 44-5356A. I have linked a video...

  • Can You Extend the Ground Wire When Installing Trailer Wiring?
The Curt Trailer Connector # C57672 should be grounded to any paint and debris free surface, preferably the vehicle frame; since the hitch is painted, it's not going to provide the best ground source for your 7 way connection. You can extend the ground and run it to a more convenient spot on the vehicle and you'll want to use a ring terminal like # 44-5356A (similar to the one found on the end of the ground wire of the C57672). If you need additional wiring, you can use # 10-1-1 which is...

  • Fuse Location for 12-Volt Accessory Feed to 7-Way Trailer Connector on 2005 Chevy Silverado
On GM vehicles of that vintage, the 12-V pin should be hot regardless of whether the ignition is on or not. If it isn't showing voltage even with the ignition on, you're almost certainly on the right track thinking it's a blown or possibly missing fuse. The 12-v feed circuit to the trailer connector is protected by a 40A fuse located in the power distribution box mounted to the inside of the driver's side fender in the engine compartment. Remove the lid and the cover to the box, which...

  • Locating Power Wire Under Hood of 2010 Chevy Silverado to Install Brake Controller
If you can't find the wire between the distribution box and the fender, it might be installed already. Check the post on the front of the distribution box, shown in the photo I provided. If the wire is attached, the tow package power wire under the dash should be active already. If it's not, you can use a length of 10 gauge wire like 10-1-1. Use a ring terminal like # 44-5356A on one end, and the other end would go through the firewall to attach to the black wire on the brake controller....

First, check the power distribution box and ensure that the wire feeding the brake controller is connected to the power post as shown in the photo I have provided. If not, locate the RED wire with ring terminal, which should be located between the fuse box and the firewall. If this wire is indeed in place, lets confirm that there is not power reaching the controller. • Parts Needed to Wire Lippert Electric Jack to Trailer Battery
You are correct, the red power wire coming out of the Lippert jack # LC285318 will need to be connected to the positive terminal on your trailer battery to provide a 12V power source. The jack is grounded through its mounting hardware. All you need is a ring terminal, like # 44-5356A, which accepts 12-10 gauge wire, and has a 5/16" diameter Ring ID to connect to your battery post. Once the red wire is inserted, use a wire crimper to affix the connector to the end of the wire. I've attached...

I would be happy to go over everything you need to flat tow your 2019 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk with your 2019 Forest River Forester. Unfortunately the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit # BX1143 you mentioned is not compatible with your Blue Ox Alexxa Tow Bar BX7435 due to it requiring base plates with a different bracket spacing, so you will need a new tow bar as there is not a base plate kit available that will work with your tow bar.. • Can Powered A-Frame Jack Connect to Trailer Junction Box
With powered a-frame jacks like the Lippert # LC285318 you referenced your best option for powering it is the battery that's mounted on the trailer as that will have the most amperage available. If your junction box runs to the trailer battery then you could run it there for a cleaner install. Or if you wanted to run it to the battery directly you certainly could. For a ring terminal for the junction box the part # 44-5356A would work well.

  • Making a Complete Ground on a Simple Utility Trailer
The white ground wire just needs to be attached to the frame or tongue of the trailer so that the entire trailer frame and structure becomes an electrical ground. Make sure the ground has direct contact to the metal. Paint can sometimes act as an insulator preventing a good ground connection. Use a ring terminal, like part # 44-5356A, and attach it to the frame with a metal screw. It sounds like the lights on the trailer are grounded to the trailer body, so by attaching the short white...

If you aren't getting power to the pin in the 1:00 position in the 7-way trailer connector with the ignition on, then the easiest way I can think of to fix it short of taking it to the Ford dealer would be to abandon the factory charge circuit and wire your own.
