2-wire to 3-wire Converter for Trailer Lights
Question:
Thank you in advance. A couple questions. My trailer has LED lights. It has separate bulbs for the turn and brake lights ie, a 3-wire system. Will your part # 118158 work for my application? My tow vehicle will work the lights on the trailer, except the wrong bulbs light up. Also, trailer currently uses a wired ground wire. Can I just bypass the your converter and tie the trailer ground white wire in with the white wire on the vehicle side of the converter? Thanks again.

The Tow Ready Converter # 118158 will work well for your application. This converter needs to be installed downstream, so to speak, of your trailer connector. This converter box is not designed to be exposed to the elements, so you will want to mount it somewhere on the trailer where it is protected. You could also use a fuse box, like # PK52248, to protect the converter.
If the ground wire from your trailer connector is already grounded to the trailer, the converter's ground wire can be connected to the same ground location using a ring terminal, like # 44-5310A or # DW05705-1. We recommend grounding the wiring to the trailer's frame at the tongue.
