Video Transcript for Deka 12 Gauge Black Primary Wire Review

Today we're going to review and install the Deka 12-gauge black primary wire, part number 12-1-1. It meets the SAE J 1128 specification, has a nice thermal plastic cover, and inside are copper leads. Here we can see the nice copper strands. They're good and durable, don't break easily. After I strap back, they can be twisted together, then routed or connected as needed. Our 12-gauge wire can handle up to 50 volts and has a max temperature of 176 degrees Fahrenheit.

It has many uses. Some typical uses will be wiring on trailers, general connections or wiring repairs. Now for this application we're going to add some 12-gauge wire, slide it into the butt connector, crimp it down. We're going to go ahead and wrap it up with some black electrical tape to help keep it clean from dirt, dust, debris, and moisture. That will do it for the review and install of the Deka 12-gauge black primary wire, part number 12-1-1.

  • How to Power Interior Lights on Enclosed Trailer
The best way to power interior lights in your enclosed trailer is with an independent 12 volt battery mounted on the trailer. To do this, mount the battery with Battery Box # TLA7708R and use junction box # 38656 to tap into your 7-way so the battery gets a maintenance charge when you are hooked up to the 7-way. Hooking up the junction box will require ring terminals # 44-5310A, and wire # 12-1-1 to run to each light, and you can use rocker switch # PK34308 to turn them on and off. Your...

  • Parts Needed To Install a Curt Echo Wireless Trailer Brake Controller on a 2017 Toyota Tacoma
The Curt Echo # C51180 will require you to have the charge line circuit of your 7-way connected to power the Echo. We have actually designed a 7-Way RV Upgrade Kit # ETBC7L that is specifically designed for the Echo so that you will not need the wiring for a brake controller mounted in your cab. Since you already have a 7-way you will only need some 12 Gauge Wire # 12-1-1 (which we do sell by foot), a 30amp Circuit Breaker # 7012A and the Connectors # DW05745-1, # DW05740-1, # DW05741-1...

  • Recommended Brake Controller and Wiring for 1999 Ford Expedition 4x4 with Factory 4-Way Wiring
For your 1999 Ford Expedition with factory 4 way, I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 brake controller # 90195. This proportional controller gives you an easy to understand and use LCD screen that takes code deciphering out of the equation. With easy to use presets and constant diagnostics, I have found this to be a customer favorite. With this adapter, you simply connect your 4-way using a little dielectric grease like # 11755, and then connect the remaining wires. The wire colors and functions are as follows: Black = 12V White = Ground Blue = Brake Controller output Purple = Reverse lights These connections can be hard wired using a little extra wire like # 12-1-1 sold by the foot,...

  • Troubleshooting Lost Power on 7-Way Trailer Connector on 2018 Ram 1500
I'd start by making sure that your 7 way didn't get disconnected from the US car connector it's plugged into. If a fuse was blown, it would normally only effect the circuit that it's tied to, so I don't believe that would be the cause of your issue. For everything to completely shut off would lead me to believe that something has either become loose or disconnected completely. If that isn't the case, it might be possible that something overloaded the 7 way connector and fried it. You...

Since you are using the Prodigy RF brake controller # TK94FR you will only need to have the 4-Way plugged into the adapter, the white wire grounds to the vehicle frame, and the black wire needs to have power because that is where the RF gets its power. I am assuming that the battery is located at the front of the trailer near the jack so that shouldn't be a problem.
