Troubleshooting T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness 118412 On 2010 Toyota RAV4 No Longer Getting Power
Question:
Hello, i have a 2010 Toyota Rav 4 and I got this part right about a year ago and it worked perfectly up until this past February. then I went to tow my trailer this spring and it’s not getting any power at all. I can’t find any fuses burned out that are related to it so I’m not sure if the controller/converter could have burned out or what? Thank you for your help.

Since the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118412 you have in your 2010 Toyota RAV4 does not have any power now, I recommend checking that the power wire that was run to the battery is not damaged, and that the in-line fuse is not blown. You will also want to check that the wire is routed in a way that it is not near the exhaust or any moving parts that may damage the wire.
If the wiring looks alright and the fuse is not blown then I recommend using a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to check the red wire going into the converter. If you are not getting power then the power wire is damaged and will need to be replaced using # 12-1-1.
If you are getting power into the converter but there is not power coming out then there is an internal short and the harness will need to be replaced.
I included a video of the # 118412 being installed and a link to a helpful article on wiring for you to take a look at.
