Video Transcript for Review of Flint Hill Goods Wiring - Wire Connectors - 44-5310A

Hello, everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at this 3/16 inch yellow ring terminal for a 12 to 10 gauge size wire. Now, this ring terminal is used for all types of electrical work where wires need fastening to a stud. Usually connects to the end of a bare wire to give a better electrical connection to apply to when you install this onto the stud. Now, this part here is designed to attach a 12 or 10 gauge size wire to a stud size of 3/16 of an inch diameter. Basically, the bare wire is what is inserted into the sleeve of the terminal, and then it's secured by crimping down on it to hold it into place.

Now, these rigged terminals are color coded using the vinyl insulation sleeve. You can see this one is a yellow color, which means it fits 12 gauge to 10 gauge size wires. They're also available in other colors, they offer a blue color, which lets you know it fits a 16 to 14 gauge size wire, and then a red color sleeve will let you know it fits a 22 to 18 gauge size wires. Basically, the higher the wire gauge number, the smaller the size of the wire. But that should do it for the review on this 3/16 inch yellow ring terminal for the 12 to 10 gauge size wire.

Replaced trailer wiring over a year ago and lights still work great. No issues with these connectors. Used them in new junction box.

by:

Fast shipping and exactly what I needed to replace my OEM Trailer pigtail.

by:

connectors and breakers to hook up my brake controller arrived in order, installed easily, and lasted 1 year so far...

by:

Had this sent to the person I purchased my Used Lance 1030 from before picking it up. He said this was a Super High Quality Product! Nice and Color Coded Heavy duty terminals. His Electrician is removing the end of the Lance plug so I can just use the 7 bladed plug at the end of the bed of my truck next to my License plate (2017 F350 PSD, DRW Super Cab, 8 Foot bed)

by:

Good connector. Used it to terminate LED lighting and no problems in about a year so far.

by:

Everything was as advertised, and thank you Kaylyn R for your wonderful customer service. It took awhile to get everything installed, because of crazy events in the past year, but it all works great!

by:

Bought in conjunction with other items to rewire trailer.
Works as advertised.
Speedy delivery.

by:

Worked well with everything downstream of the primary wiring. Just wasn't big enough for the primaries, got that at a local hardware store.

by:

Quick service/delivery. Nothing really exceptional about these. Frankly, wish I had gotten some with heat shrink.

by:

Overall a good product. Easy to use and install.

The only minor issue we had was the plastic band coming loose after crimping the wire onto the connector.

by:

Everything arrived faster than I thought it would and everything looks great!!! I will be buying more when I need trailer parts in future. Things should go alright installing unless I screw it up.

by:

Odelia waited on me and was very helpful as well as professional. I certainly would order from her again and recomend etrailer to anyone who needs trailer supplies.

by:

What can I say, its a ring terminal.

by:

Not a cheap connector

by:

Exactly as described. Great to order from one supplier and have all the pieces arrive together for our project.

by:

Worked great good quality

by:

  • Recommendations For Re-Wiring Horse Trailer With Brakes
Since you said you have a 7-way blade connector on your Silverado I would start with the 7-Way Molded Trailer Wire Connector, part # H20046. This is an 8 ft long harness with the 7-way trailer connector. If you need a shorter harness, you can check out part # H20044 which is a 6 ft long harness with the connector. You will want a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 to make sure you match the wiring on the trailer side connector to the functions on the vehicle connector. I then recommend...

  • How to Tell if 12v Circuit on 7-Way is Active on 2019 Volkswagen Atlas
Your 7 Pin connector should be active, especially if it was factory installed. You can test the connector with a circuit tester like our # PTW2992 when the vehicle is on. Then shut it off and test again to see if your connector is still drawing power with the engine off. If it is not active there is either a blown or missing fuse (check your owner's manual for location), or it possibly did not come active from the factory. In which case you can run a wire from the battery to the 7-way...

  • Adding Brakes to 1994 Coleman Pioneer Chesapeake Pop-Up Camper
Trailer bearings are not listed in the specs for your 22-foot 1994 Coleman Pioneer Chesapeake pop-up but usually the axle weight rating tells us a lot about the bearings used. Since your trailer has a dry weight of 1445-lbs it probably has a 2K axle and this means the bearings are usually either # L44643 or # L44649. Hub/drum part # 8-257-5UC3 uses bearing # L44649 as the inner and outer bearing so if you pull one of your idler hubs and find that part number on your two bearings then you...

  • Best Way to Add Electric Drum Brakes to 2000 Coleman Taos Camper
You can add electric drum brakes to your trailer either by having brake flanges welded on or by changing out the axle, as you suggested. I agree this is the better option for both cost and safety reasons. Installing a new axle will save you labor time as compared to modifying yours. You can start off with a review of the linked article which covers this subject in detail. You will need a new axle rated appropriately for the trailer (and of the correct dimensions), brakes assemblies, hub/drums,...

  • Installing New Trailer Lights and Wiring on a Horse Trailer
There isn't a kit available for what you are looking for, but you can still piece everything together. For grommets to use with the # ST45RB you would want the part # A45GB and then for a pigtail you would want the part # A45PB. Often times, people will run the wires from a 7-way such as yours to a junction box like part # 38656. From there, they will run the standard wire colors to the trailer lights, brakes and battery. I have attached a photo that shows how this setup works in the...

  • How to Wire LED Tailgate Light Strip to Running Light Circuit on 2009 Chevrolet Silverado
For your LED tailgate light strip to function when your headlights are on it must be connected to the running light circuit wire and of course be grounded, either to the vehicle frame or to the white ground wire in your trailer wiring. In a 7-way the running light circuit is carried on the wire that leads to the contact at the 11:00 position as you view the socket. The ground wire connects to the pin at the 7:00 position. Please refer to the photo I linked for you. You can ground the light...

I recommend the Epicord 7-Way Molded Trailer Plug with Junction Box - 10' Long # 277-000141. • Troubleshooting Trailer Connection Wiring on 2013 Chevrolet Silverado
It sounds like you are having an issue with the ground on your 7-way trailer connection. The first thing to do is use a little sand paper or steel wool and clean the connections of your 7-way. Then add some dielectric grease # 11755 to keep the connections clean and free of moisture. If that doesn't solve your ground connection, then you will simply trace the wire harness from the back side of your 7-way to find where it is physically connected to the truck frame. The white wire in...

If you have had a Prodigy P2 Brake Controller, part # 90885, previously installed in your 2009 Dodge Grand Caravan and the wiring to install it under the dash is still present then you will be able to simply plug in the new controller with that same harness. In your van the install would have been a hard-wire type that would have used an install kit like our # ETBC7. In any case the P2 includes a pigtail wiring harness if you do need one. No worries. If your trailer does not have brakes its wiring may well be the simple 4-pole format using connectors like the one in the linked photo. The photo shows the usual wire colors and functions associated with each pin BUT wire colors alone are not a reliable way to know how to wire up the trailer, especially an older one. Aluminum trailers are known for issues when it comes to grounding. You can accomplish this by joining the individual grounds with a butt connector like # DW05745-10 to the one main ground wire. • Troubleshooting 7-Way RV Wiring for Cause of Smoke from Connectors
If your 7-way connectors are getting hot enough to smoke then you do definitely have a good ground! Without a good ground not enough power would be passed to heat up your wiring connectors and make them smoke. But clearly there is a circuit problem in either or both the vehicle socket or the RV plug. Since it sounds like the truck's socket does not act up by itself, only when the trailer is plugged in, I suspect the issue to be on the trailer, specifically within its 7-way molded plug....
