Recommended Brake Controller and Wiring for 1999 Ford Expedition 4x4 with Factory 4-Way Wiring
Question:
1999 Expedition 4x4. I have a 4 way plugged into the factory harness. I want to install a 7way plug for electric brakes. I dont believe I have the tow ready harness back at the rear to plug into and not exactly sure where I tie into the harness to get the correct wires. If you have a specific video, Id like to see it. I have the connection up front for the controller by the ECM plug under the dash. What components do I need? Thanks

For your 1999 Ford Expedition with factory 4 way, I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 brake controller # 90195. This proportional controller gives you an easy to understand and use LCD screen that takes code deciphering out of the equation. With easy to use presets and constant diagnostics, I have found this to be a customer favorite. As you mentioned, this controller will plug into the connector under your dash using the Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter for Electric Brake Controllers # 3035-P.
To complete your wiring to a 7-way, I recommend the Hopkins Adapter 4-Pole to 7-Pole and 4-Pole # 37185 which will connect to the wires along the rear frame rail of your SUV. You will need a little bit of extra wire for each of the 3 functions. I recommend using # 12-1-1 for this sold by the foot.
