    • Tail lights: 7.5 amps per circuit
  • 1-Year limited warranty

Installation

This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located inside your trunk, behind the tail lights on both the driver's side and passenger's side. You will need to remove some interior trim or carpeting to access the harness. Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the lead to the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery and insert the provided fuse.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed within your trunk.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

ModuLite Power Module

A ModuLite power module is built into this T-One connector. With a ModuLite, your trailer's lights will be powered without overloading your vehicle's electrical system. Because the module draws power directly from your car's battery and bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

2009 Volkswagen Jetta

Installed both hitch and wiring this morning. Pretty straight forward - watch the videos to get a good idea, pre-install.

Only regret is I should have ordered the Jetta specific ball hitch at the same time as the hitch and wiring. Thought I could find it locally, but now will pay for shipping...

working out great thanks. actually towing the sailboat tomorrow!

by:

Arrived on schedule in good condition despite horrible packaging (parts of the Hitch were protruding from the box.
Installation was fairly straightforward. Images in instructions could have been bigger.

by:

Great fit and easy attachments

by:
2006 Volkswagen Jetta

It could use a better instruction sheet with sharper pictures & clear steps, e.g. where is step number 9? A routing guide for the power lead would help. Quality of manufacture seems good and works as expected.

Yikes, you are right! It does seem step 9 went missing. I think what has happened is that when the manual was last revised the steps were condensed however the numbering became off. I did contact the manufacturer about it. In the meantime we do have a FAQ that can help when it comes to routing the power wire.

by:

Fantastic product. I wanted to add a trailer harness without cutting or splicing any of the car wiring. Installation was a breeze, and the system works like a charm. The one change I made was to add a plug for one of the lighter sockets rather than run a wire all the way up to the battery. My car has a pass-through from the trunk, so it's easy to plug in the power cord when I want to hook up the trailer.

by:
2006 Volkswagen Jetta

Fairly easy install after watching the YouTube video posted on website. The instructions were not the easiest to follow when it came to feeding a bolt and bracket through the frame due to lack of pictures to show which hole to use but otherwise looks clean. Highly recommend to watch install video. I love the wiring harness and the fact no splicing of factory wiring was required. I have not cut my original plastic cover on bottom of car to reinstall around the tow hitch yet but do intend to put back on the car.

by:

Product arrived 2 days later along with my trailer hitch; free shipping. Both videos were a godsend. It's so much easier to watch a video compared to a diagram. I wish more companies would follow suit. The pre-made harness with the plug-and-play comcept was a definate upgrade compared to the old style where you had to clip to existing wires. This way, it could always be removed with damaging the existing harness.

by:
2006 Volkswagen Jetta

This kit made my Curt hitch install complete. With plug and play wiring adapters, 12 gauge power wire spool supplied, I had this wiring harness installed in no time. I recommend taking your time and removing all cargo panels and trim to install this harness. It makes for a seamless professional install. Thank you!

by:

I had purchased a wiring harness that was not custom made for my vehicle, but it was not up to the task, (or I was not sharp enough to get it done). The harness from E Trailer fit nicely and the customer support was excellent!

by:
2009 Volkswagen Jetta

This part works well. The installation to the tail lights themselves was very simple and only took about 10 minutes. Running the power supply from the battery to the trailer took some time (~2 hours) though. The difficult part was accessing the engine compartment through the firewall on the driver's side. Would be helpful to have more vehicle-specific pictures on this step. Otherwise, the installation process was seamless with a simple electrical wiring kit.

by:
2006 Volkswagen Jetta

I used the hitch and harness for about 6 months and it worked awesome! Could not be happier. I sold the car and really wish the hitch transferred to my New car because it was so useful

by:

When it showed up wasn't expecting the hitch to be so beefy! Excellent build quality and paint, this hitch is SOLID. The wiring kit I also ordered was very high quality and well built. I would definitely recommend any of etrailers products to anyone looking for hitches and accessories.

by:
2006 Volkswagen Jetta

The so called T-connectors fit the factory taillight plugs perfectly. The only irritating part of this install was running the wire from the unit to the battery at the front of the car.

It would be nice if the unit came with a 12V cigarette lighter adapter, as my car has a plug in the trunk. If that was included install would have taken about 5 minutes tops. I may actually make one now that I think of it.

by:
Volkswagen Jetta

The wiring kit works great. It was easy to install and came with everything needed. The video describes exactly how to install it. I have had It installed on my jetta for more than a year and it has been great.

by:
2009 Volkswagen Jetta

I purchased this item for my 2009 Jetta TDI. I didn't feel like cutting my factory wires so I went with T-One Connector, plug and play great item and has everything what you need to do the job.

by:

Great product and worked well. Easy installation with great instructions and good price. Would highly recommend. So far no issues.

by:

Plug and play, very easy installation. The instructions say to run a wire directly to the positive terminal on the battery. I just spliced in the 12V socket in the trunk instead.

by:
2010 Volkswagen Jetta

The trailer wiring kit was easy to install in my 2010 Jetta.

by:

If you can follow simple instructions, installation is no problem, complete.

by:

Great idea to make a plug-in trailer harness. Easy to install and works .

by:

great product received it today and installed this afternoon. Very easy install except for routing the power wire to the battery. Took approximately 15 min. to install the system and 2 hrs. to route the power wire.

by:
2003 Dodge Ram Pickup

This is my third time using this product. This unit was purchased to replace an existing unit that failed after 2.5 years and being subject to 2 or 3 hard shorts. The product is easy to install and etrailer usually ships it faster than quoted.

by:

Customer service is awesome. I have bought several trailer items from etrailer and that all worked and or fit. Thanks ahain.

by:

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch/Trailer Wiring For A 2009 Volkswagen Jetta TDI
I recommend the Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver # 24866 for your 2009 Volkswagen Jetta. The Curt hitch is not confirmed to fit the TDI model of your Jetta. The Draw-Tite hitch has a bolt-on installation with no welding required and has a black powder coated finish that offers a superior rust protection. For the wiring harness you will need the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118667. I like the T-One harness over the other harnesses that we offer because it has a more reliable...

  • Ground Clearance on Available Trailer Hitches for a 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
On all of the available trailer hitches for the 2006 Volkswagen Jetta, the receiver and cross tubing will be fairly low. This is because of the attachment point placement on the VW frame. By design, the hitches have to be that low. On all the models, the top of the receiver tube will be just below the rear fascia. We have several videos you can view (linked below) on the Draw-Tite, Valley, and Hidden Hitch models that show the hitches installed to give you a better idea of the kind of...

I checked with Ecohitch they did not start making hitch receivers for the Jetta SportWagen model's until 2010 and the Jetta sedans until 2015. I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch item # C11474. This hitch receiver is a confirmed fit for the TDI models. It has a towing capacity of 2,000 lbs and maximum tongue weight of 200 lbs. This is a class 1 hitch with a 1-1/4" x 1-1/4" receiver...

  • No-Splice Trailer Wiring Harness for 2014 Volkswagen Jetta SportWagen
I do have a solution for you, but there isn't a custom plug-in T-Connector available for your 2014 Volkswagen Jetta SportWagen. The Tekonsha # 118667, you were looking at, only fits the Sedan models of the Jetta. For a no-splice solution, you can use the ZCI Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness # 119250KIT. This universal kit uses sensors that simply clamp to your factory tail light wires so no cutting or splicing is required to install it. The ZCI sensors are able to read the signals...

  • Trailer Hitch and Wiring Recomendation for 2006 Volkswagen Jetta Sedan
For a trailer hitch confirmed as a fit for your 2006 Volkswagen Jetta sedan you'd want the Curt # C11474 which is a confirmed fit and would work well. For wiring you'd then want the Tekonsha kit part # 118667 which is a confirmed fit and would work well. For a ball mount you'd want the # 3593 and then for a 2 inch hitch ball part # 19258.
