Durable tie-downs bolt onto your truck bed, trailer, or ladder rack so that you can easily secure cargo. Quick-release buttons simplify unloading, and the retractable design keeps straps neatly stored when they're not in use. 1,200 lbs Max load.

  • Bolt-on tie-downs let you secure cargo in your truck bed or trailer or on your ladder rack
    • Permanently mount to a flat surface with included hardware
  • Retractable straps automatically wind up into the built-in housings with the push of a button
    • Keeps straps neatly stowed when they're not in use
  • Ratchet mechanisms make it easy to tighten down straps and maintain tension on straps
    • Rubber coating on handle provides a good grip
  • Push buttons on ratchets quickly and easily release straps when you're ready to unload
  • Vinyl-coated steel S-hooks help prevent scratches on your cargo
  • Corrosion-resistant steel bodies
  • Sturdy polyester webbing

Specs:

  • Strap dimensions: 1" wide x 9' long
  • Safe working load limit (WLL): 400 lbs
  • Maximum load (break strength): 1,200 lbs
  • Quantity: 2 ratchet straps
  • 90-Day limited warranty

Note: Tie-down straps must be chosen according to their safe working load limit (WLL). The weight of the secured cargo must not exceed the combined WLL of the straps being used. For example, if you are using straps with a WLL of 500 lbs each to tie down a load weighing 1,000 lbs, then you need at least 2 straps to safely secure that load. It is recommended that you always use straps in pairs.

Erickson Re-Tractable, Bolt-On Tie-Down Straps

These Erickson ratchet straps take the hassle out of tying down gear - especially the cargo you transport frequently, such as your boat or motorcycle. Each ratchet housing permanently mounts to your truck bed, trailer, or ladder rack with a single bolt, which is included.

To use one of the tie-downs, simply push down the red release button and pull out the strap. Then secure the vinyl-coated steel S-hook to your cargo and ratchet the strap until it's tight. You have to hook up just one end of the strap each time. And because the straps are permanently mounted, you'll never have to search for a missing tie-down. This saves you time and frustration and gets you out on the road in a flash.

well i found that they tend to freeze up and very hard to operate. i replace all 4 units and eventually they got to be very hard to operate so i tried some bead blaster on them and guess what? they freeed up/ now once again they work smoothly. should have tried that first, saved me some money. they are great as along as they work

by:

My review is a 1 because the springs on my straps gave out after about 2 weeks of use. I love the tie-downs comceptually so I just use them having to take about 5 minutes to manually crank them in rather than the spring do it

Not well. After about 3-4 weeks of use, the springs in the ratchets stopped retracting the straps.

by:

Actually the auto retraction feature crapped out on me after about 2 months use and now they’re pretty annoying to use.I have to crank them in now at about 1” at a time. Not happy!

by:

Yeah the product is ok... It's much nicer than using regular ratchet Straps that always get jammed.

I use them on my ladder rack for my work truck to secure them.

I noticed that in less than a year, somewhere during the winter, the auto retractor failed, now I have to ratchet a whole lot everytime I take my ladder off my truck to tighten up the Straps so they aren't flopping around in the wind.

If it wasn't for losing the auto retraction feature, I would have given a 5/5 star rating.

by:

I bought 4 of these; 2 separate orders. I installed them permanently in the bed is my F150 at the 5 corners of the bed floor. They worked perfectly until the retraction mechanism failed in one of them. The system still works, though. Except for the above described problem, it would be a 5 star product.

by:

These bolt-on retractable straps are perfect for my truck rack. They are much more usable than the loose retractables I was using before, and much more dependable and safe than bungee cords. They make securing my ladders quick and easy. No more loose tails to tie up. On the weekend the ladders come off and my kayak takes their place. I highly recommend these straps. I have one on all 4 corners of my rack.

by:

Spent a lot of time researching online -- found etrailer.com and their videos are and descriptions are priceless when you don't have the luxury to play with something like this. Shipping was amazingly fast and affordable (even to ALASKA!)

I needed a solution to keep my floatplane on a set of dollies in the hangar. Traditional ratchet straps had a long tail and no place to go when the aircraft was not on the dollies. It was a 10 minute process just to strap the plane on.

Installed these Erickson Straps in about 10 minutes on the dollies and am very happy. No I can strap the plane in about 30 seconds!

by:

If anybody owns a cargo van they know how difficult it is to quickly secure anything to the rack on top of it. This is the solution for me, so far so good. Light duty but adequate to secure ladders and material quickly

by:

so far so good. Was concerned about installing them on my tube lumber rack since the Straps are really meant for flat surfaces. Once bolted securely, they work as advertised. Love that the hook has a little pocket to sit in that keeps it from flopping around while not in use.

by:

I have used these straps for a year and they have worked perfectly. I use them on my kayak rack and haven't had any problems with them keeping our kayaks secure.

by:

I ordered 2 sets and mounted them to my Curt Aluminum cargo platform. That way, the ratchet straps are right there when I need them--it saves time loading and unloading, and there is no excess strap to worry about. They are plenty strong for what I haul. Shipping is always quick from eTrailer!

From a mechanical perspective, the Erickson Cargo Tie Downs are still working great. However, they are not plated or coated at all, so they now look really bad from corrosion. Thats disappointing, as I am worried about them rusting apart

by:

This product will be used to secure a mobility scooter to a platform. The current straps I'm using have to be attached and threaded each time I use them. These retractable straps will simplify my task dramatically.

I have to thank the customer-service people at etrailer.com, who kept me informed throughout the ordering and shipping process.

They are working out great for me. They are easy to deploy, easy to stow, hold the scooter securely, and because they are attached to the platform, theyre always right there for me.

by:

Works well and still holding up after 1year but after 6months of use 1 of the ratchet strap stopped retracting. Kind of annoying when you have 4ft+ of strap out.

by:

Will be installing these on a kayak trailer. Will be great, not to have to deal with gathering up straps after unhooking. Then again after loading, and hooking back up. Hope they hold up being attached perminitly out in the weather though.

Yes, straps are working great still. Everyone that sees them, asks where I got them. So I pass your site information along.

by:

The spring stopped working on both just a few months after installing.
I like the bolt down feature

by:

Great rachet straps for the back of the jet ski trailer. Decent price and well built.

by:

Very good product but I like the pro grip top loader tie down straps better. There a lot heavier duty. I ordered both products for my ladder rack.
They both serve there purpose but for lumber the heavier duty tie downs are better.
The retractable ratchet straps work good for ladders.

by:

Good while they lasted a few months. Less than a year and one of the straps broke, two will no longer retract automatically (have to crank them in inch by inch) and one still works but doesn’t retract the full length.
Etrailer reached out to me wanting my feedback one year after purchasing. I told them the above and their reply was basically oh well they have a 90 day warranty.
They asked for me to write a review so here it is.

by:

First of all, these straps weren’t what I thought they were...that’s my fault. I wanted a strap that maintains retracting force when you pull it out, so that I could hook it on one side of the trailer then go to the other side to tighten it. This strap does not do that. It does retract, but only when you release it from the ratchet side. After a year, two of the four I bought still work, but I have to hit them hard to get them to retract. The webbing has frayed on all of them and I had to remove one because it no longer worked. They don’t seem to be built well enough to be left outside, and I don’t think they are a very good value.

by:

Very satisfied with this product. Very positive buying experience with etrailer.com. Will definitely be shopping here again.

They are great. They dont retract all the way by themselves now but that could be because they are dirty, but overall they work very well. I just purchased another trailer and will probably be putting a set on it soon.

by:

vary happy with the item I ordered

by:

These ratcheting tie downs bolted to my existing trailer to hold my Can Am securely from the front of the machine. The spring retraction feature makes using them quick with no loose strap material to flap in the wind. The quick release button is easy to use. Great product!!!

by:

Works great.

by:

I am not happy with them at all, one of the S hook came tore off just driving down the road, now I was drive at 75 miles per hour which is the speed on interstate 40, and one of the other straps just tore in half, and the retractable part of it doesnt work very well either, I am about to take them off and replace them with bigger and stronger straps.

by:

Purchased these to hold 14 kayaks on a trailer that we use for Special Olympics athletes. They work great- so much simpler to use than anything else we could find- important because different people use them every week, and it shortens the amount of time we spend loading and unloading them.

  • How Long is the Fixed Strap of the Erikson Re-Tractable Ratchet Straps and Is There a Shorter Option
I called Erikson to check, and the length of the fixed strap of the Re-Tractable Ratchet Straps w/ Push Button Releases, part # EM34420, is 3.5" from loop to start of the hook. Erikson does have a Re-Tractable Rachet Strap that allows the hook to fully retract. It's part # EM34417. The only drawback to this is that there is only one hook. However, it still has the option to be bolted down, so it can still work. I've linked to a video review of this strap for you to look at.

I went out to the warehouse and pulled the Erickson Retractable, Ratcheting Tie-Down Straps, # EM34417. The mounting hole is located under the handle. I have made short video that shows the mounting hole location for you to view.

  • Is the Erickson Re-Tractable, Ratcheting, Bolt-On Tie-Down Strap, # EM34417 Corrosion Resistant
The Erickson Re-Tractable, Ratcheting, Bolt-On Tie-Down Strap, # EM34417, would be a good choice for marine applications. The metal parts are steel but have a zinc-dichromate coating for corrosion resistance. The handle is made of sturdy plastic that will not rust. You should not have problems with it seizing in a marine environment. To pro-long the life of it, you can clean off any salt deposits after use. Tie-down straps should always be chosen according to their Safe Working Load Limit...

  • Is There a Longer Strap for the CargoBuckle G3 Retractable Ratchet Tie-Down Straps
The CargoBuckle G3 Retractable Ratchet Tie-Down Straps like part # IMF18800 come with a 6' long strap. This is the longest strap available for these tie-downs as if you are using them for what they are designed for, which is to mount on the frame and attach to the tie-down point on the boat, the distance should never exceed 6'. That said, we do have a very similar option available in a longer length, the Erickson Re-Tractable Ratchet Straps part # EM34417 which come in 9' and are more designed...

  • Length and Diameter of Mounting Bolts for Erickson Retractable Ratcheting Tie-Down Straps # EM34417
The mounting bolts for the Erickson Retractable Ratcheting Tie-Down Straps are 5/16 inch in diameter and are 3-1/8 inches long. The working load limit (WLL) for each strap is 400 lbs, which means that although the straps can withstand load spikes up to 1200 lb, you should not exceed a 400 lb load on the strap. • Do Erickson Retractable Ratcheting Tie-Down Straps, Part # EM34417, Automatically Retract
The Erickson Retractable Ratcheting Tie-Down Straps, part # EM34417, use high strength polyester straps that measure 1 inch wide by 9 feet long. The extra strap length will retract onto the storage hub when the red button (located under the ratcheting handle) is pressed. The auto-retract function is spring operated. Depending on the load you are securing you may want to consider the Erickson Chrome-Protector Sleeves, part # EM06305-2. These easily slip over the straps and can be positioned...

  • Can The Erickson Re-Tractable Ratchet Straps # EM34417 Be Used Without Bolting Down?
Yes, you can use the Erickson Re-Tractable Ratchet Straps # EM34417 with running the straps hook into the bolt hole. I do not see any warnings/notes from Erickson saying they cannot be used in this manor. Personally I feel the Erickson Re-Tractable Ratchet Straps # EM34415 would be a better option as they are the same strap with a 2nd hook on the other end. This will give you an additional 1' of length giving you 10' instead of only 9'.

The longest bolt on strap with hook we have is the Erickson Re-Tractable Ratchet Straps w/ Push Button Releases - 2" x 10' # EM34416. If that won't work for your application, then I recommend using a 15 foot strap like # EM01416 and Let's Go Aero D-Ring Tie-Down Anchors - Bolt On # MMP536.

  • Availability of 8 Foot Long Tie-Down Strap to Use on a Tarp
To use a rubber strap you would need to attach 2 or 3 straps, like the Erickson Rubber Tarp Strap, part # EM06741, together to be able to reach that length. I do not have a single rubber tarp strap that will stretch to 8 feet. I do offer tie-down straps and ratchet straps that would be able to give you the 8 foot distance you need. • Why Does it Seem Like My Erickson Ratcheting Tie Downs are Coming Loose
I think something else might be happening here, it sounds like you are getting the tie-downs tight and locked but then as you drive the wheelchair might move or the strap might slide and then the tension that was in the tie-down has been reduced and feels like the strap has come loose. It is not uncommon to have to tighten and re tighten loads periodically as you are traveling down the road. If you put the lever of the all the way in the down position it will be locked.
