I have a solution for you but EcoHitch does not make a hitch receiver for any 2009 Volkswagen Jetta model. I checked with Ecohitch they did not start making hitch receivers for the Jetta SportWagen model's until 2010 and the Jetta sedans until 2015. I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch item # C11474. This hitch receiver is a confirmed fit for the TDI models. It has a towing capacity of 2,000 lbs and maximum tongue weight of 200 lbs. This is a class 1 hitch with a 1-1/4" x 1-1/4" receiver opening.
If you are needing a wiring harness to control a trailers lighting functions I recommend the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector item # 118667. This connects in line at the rear of your Jetta and requires no cutting or splicing of wires.
If you are planning on pulling a trailer you will need the Curt Towing Starter Kit for 1-1/4" Hitches item # C45147. This kit will provide you with a 1 1/4" ball mount and a 2" ball.
