Easy Hookup with Telescoping Arms and Swivel Head Joint

Blue Ox Ascent Self-Aligning Arms

The arms on the Ascent are designed to make hooking up super easy. It gives you a lot of flexibility for getting your toad (towed vehicle) connected to your RV, without the need for your vehicle to be perfectly level or in the exact right spot.

Just slide the tow bar into your hitch and pin it in place, then extend the telescoping arms out until they reach the base plate tabs on your car. Then the swivel head joint allows the whole tow bar to twist left and right as you work to get the arms into place.

Once you're all hooked up, slowly pull forward and the self-aligning arms will fully extend and lock into the towing position. Double check that the arms are properly latched and you'll be ready to hit the road!

Extra-Long Arms Get You Around Tight Turns

The Ascent's arms are longer than average, giving you an above-average turning radius. You're going to be able to get around obstacles and make sharp turns with no worry of clipping the corner of your RV. Maneuver through gas stations and the campsite no problem.

Non-Binding for Easy Disconnect

Uneven ground and sharp angles can put the arms of the tow bar in a bind and make them stiff and immoveable. Once you get to your destination, the last thing you need is to spend several minutes wrestling, yanking, and kicking at them to get your car disconnected.

Blue Ox Ascent Non-Binding Tow Arms

Instead, get out of a bind in one easy step. Simply press down on the Ascent's non-binding levers to disengage the internal latches in the arms. This releases the pent-up pressure so you can unhook and get on with your adventure.

Secure Triple-Lug Connection

Blue Ox Ascent Triple-Lug Connection

Blue Ox tow bars have triple-lug brackets to create an extra-secure connection to the base plate. It's a small detail with big benefits, as this crucial component of your flat tow setup is guaranteed to be tight and sturdy.

Simple Storage: RV-Mounted Tow Bar

Blue Ox Ascent Easy Storage

The Ascent folds up to conveniently store on the back of your RV when you're not using it. After disconnecting the tow bar from your toad, push the arms of the tow bar together so that they are side by side. Fold the tow bar up toward your RV and slide the storage bolt into the slot in the bracket on top of the tow bar shank. The arms can then swing to the right or to the left, whichever side you want to store it on.

For added protection from the elements, slip the Blue Ox tow bar cover (BX88309 - sold separately) over the Ascent when you're not using it.

Vinyl-Coated Safety Cables Included

Blue Ox Ascent Safety Cables

Included with this tow bar are 2 coiled safety cables rated at 7,500 lbs. These cables, required by law, will keep your toad behind your RV if there's ever an accidental disconnect while towing. The steel hooks on each end of the cables connect to the toad's base plate and the RV's trailer hitch. The spring-loaded latches ensure that the S-hooks stay connected.

The coiled design of these cables prevents them from dragging on the ground and getting damaged, and the vinyl coating keeps them safe from the elements so that they last you the life of the tow bar.

What You Need to Flat Tow

Flat towing can be a much more convenient way to take your car RVing with you than using a trailer or a tow dolly. It'll save you storage space both at home and at the campsite, and it takes less time and hassle to hook up.

To flat tow your vehicle, there are 5 basic components you're going to need: a tow bar, a base plate kit, a safety cable set, tow bar wiring, and a flat tow braking system.

For the RV Between the RV and Towed Car For the Towed Car
Hitch Tow bar Base plate
Wiring plug Safety cables Braking system
Wiring adapter cord Wiring kit/diodes

The custom-fit base plate installs on the frame of your toad so you can connect the car to your RV with a tow bar. Hook up safety cables between the vehicles to ensure that the toad does not separate from the motorhome if the tow bar becomes detached. Tow bar wiring syncs your vehicle's signal lights with your motorhome's tail lights, as required by law in most states. Finally, the flat tow braking system - also required in most states - activates the brakes in the toad when you hit the brakes in the RV, making for smoother, safer braking, and preventing wear on your motorhome.

We use it on a regular basis and it functions very well.

by:

Tow bar arrived fast and undamaged.
We
use this tow bar to tow a 2019 Ranger behind our 2010 Winnebago Journey.

The tow bar works flawlessly. Hook up and detaching from the truck is easy and best of all no binding.

by:

The Blue Ox tow bar is great. I had to replace my old tow bar when I forgot to lock a pin and broke it pulling out of a campground. Not only did etrailer have one in stock they overnighted the new one to me in Big Bend National Park Texas. Thanks etrailer for your excellent service and complete customer satisfaction.

After 10,000 miles its working just fine.

by:

The towbar works great, but it’s very very stiff. I was hoping it would loosen up with use, but so far it hasn’t. That’s the reason it lost one star

by:

I went from an Avail I purchased from e-Trailer mid-2018. I went to the Ascent because it is lighter. The fact the old Avail was in it's 6th year of Full-Time use with over 44,000 miles, plus the desire to have a lighter tow bar made it an easy decision. The entire purchase was typical of e-Trailer; fast, economical, correct in all respects. The extensive videos of your products is an excellent feature that draws me back to e-Trailer over and over.

by:

Worked perfect for my 2017 Jeep Wrangler JKU with a Maxis Towing assembly with 35” spacing.

by:

The blue ox ascent tow bar has worked out great! Our previous tow bar broke 1,100 miles from home so we got online and ordered from e-trailer . Great service, accurate and prompt. Thanks again!

by:

Great towbar. Ram arm covered with rubber protector to keep dirt off shafts. Easy to attach and detach from towed vehicle.

by:

I love my blue ox tow bar. Installed it myself and pull Jeep Wrangler behind our RV. Easy to hook and unhook. Pulls great, no sway or slack, like a rock.

by:

etrailer has great prices, quality products and fast delivery all with a website that's easy to navigate. This tow bar replaced one I had for over 10 years. It's lighter and easier to work with.

by:

I like blue ox products.

by:

Just what I ordered, delivered quickly, no damage in shipment. Thank you!

by:

Great delivery, in perfect shape. Will be trying the tow bar out after installing the base plate. Excellent Blue Ox quality is apparent.

A+++THANK U

by:

So far so good. Product is well made and working well after 1 year and multiple short trips.

by:

Once I got everything installed the bar did its job very well. I have only towed one time so far but I look forward to the next. I really like being able to remove the adapters on the front of the vehicle for a smoother look.

by:

I believe the blue ox towbar is the simplest and most professional reading you can use when telling your vehicle. This product is outstanding and simple. Thank you etrailer!

by:

It was simple, relatively affordable and arrived in a few days. We will definitely use etrailer for future purchases. Thanks a bunch!

by:

Exactly as ordered. Order got lost in handling but call to customer service rep got it restarted a week later.

Had an issue with tow bar after first use but Blue Ox sent a new one at no charge.

by:

outstanding product. in many cases, you get what you pay for. we expected a hi quality, top shelf product, and that's what we've gotten.
excellent product, service, reliability.

by:

Perfect Fit. I watched the video's that etrailer provides and decided to take on the install myself. Everything from the base plates, diode wiring kit, drop receiver and Blue Ox Tow bar went just as the video's showed.
We are very happy with the service and parts etrailer.com has provided us for our 2022 Ford Ranger.

by:

Free shipping is not what you think. Thy say you will receive it by (on date when ordering it) but after ordering it comes up with another date. Had to call customer service to cancel order and payed $XX dollars extra to reorder same product with express shipping. Spoke with CS that I needed product by certain date and still came in 2 days later. Free shipping you are on the back of the line unless you pay extra. But if I would of waited for free shipping it would of been in around the same time. I am a full time RVer and other tow bar was damaged and needed new one before leaving campground (frustrating)

by:

This is my second Blue Ox tow bar and I used the first one for over 10 years and 50K plus miles. This ascent bar is easy to install and remove. I feel very safe going down the road using this bar while towing my Jeep Grand Cherokee.

by:

With the RV industry 'on fire' with demand, we were afraid we waited too long to order this tow bar. Initially, E-Trailer advised it would be on back order for three months. We called to inquire and - voila - they found one for us !! It shipped the next day. Great service. Thanks E-Trailer !!

by:

This hitch is super easy to use and works just as described. I wish it was a way to keep the arms up when not in use otherwise great purchase.

  • Why Does My Blue Ox Ascent Tow Bar Need To Be Level
The reason for this comes down to safety and the additional pressures that would be exerted on the components when your Blue Ox Ascent # BX4370 tow bar is not level. The additional force that is put on these components ultimately makes it more likely that there is a catastrophic malfunction while towing your vehicle. I'll also add that while you may not see much binding currently since you're on a flat surface, it's more likely to happen over time with maneuvering around corners and up...

The Blue Ox Ascent Non-Binding Tow Bar, # BX4370, has a 7,500 lbs. rating that meets the need for your vehicle. That it is constructed of aluminum, instead of steel is not an obstacle to its quality and durability. This is a great option for a larger SUV and will match to Blue Ox Base Plates for your GMC Yukon. I like this tow bar because of its non-binding latch design and self-aligning feature. • Blue Ox Ascent Tow Bar Measurements Retracted and Extended
The Blue Ox Ascent Tow Bar - Motorhome Mount - 2" Hitch - 7,500 lbs # BX4370 has arms 2 inches longer than most. I reached out to my tech contact who said when the legs are in it is 44” from receiver pin to holes on triple lug. When fully extended 54”. This is with the legs closed together. That distance will be shorter when the legs are spread and attached to a baseplate because expanding will created an angle to reduce the distance between connection points without changing the arm length.

  • Differences Between The Blue Ox Ascent VS Blue Ox Acclaim Tow Bars
The main difference between the Blue Ox Acclaim Non-Binding Tow Bar # BX4330 and the Blue Ox Ascent Non-Binding Tow Bar # BX4370 besides the weight capacities is the mounting styles. The Acclaim is designed to mount to a hitch ball whereas the Ascent will mount directly into the receiver of your motorhome's trailer hitch.
