Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed in an out-of-the-way location within your cargo area.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plug on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

I'm glad I was told about this connection. Because I was told it would be over $800.00 to have SUV wired so I could pull my Tow dolly. Thanks E Trailer.

I give this product a 10 better than excellent! Until I found by accident, the etrailer video i had started to purchase a trailer harness at the auto parts store and splice the wires to my tail lights like i did years ago. Thanks to YouTube, my iPhone and etrailer i was able to install this trailer wiring within an hour, no fuss, no mess. Thank you so much.

Product Review: first picture my 2012 GMC Terrain ,
Second picture, searching for the plug outlet for the trailer lights.
Third picture, thanks to the E-trailer you tube Video I was able to locate the outlet.
Forth picture, I cut some of the panel away to make easy excess to the plug outlet, I then , took an air hose and cleaned any debris in the outlet.
Fifth picture, I plugged in an tested my new trailer wiring harness, worked perfect.
Sixth picture, the finished product, I used a Felcro tie and attached the harness to a ring .

The trailer harness kit is great! I’ve recommended etrailer to many people

This is a perfectly tailored product for the do-it-yourselfer who with a little help adds a nice hitch to his vehicle. Getting an older vehicle's OEM installed weld nuts clean takes most of the time followed by installing the two washers and nuts in the fascia area. That part needs patience as the work area is limited. The Curt LED 4-Way Flat Connector (Vehicle End) Tester makes it very simple to verify the Tow Package - 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector that is a snap to install to the vehicles pre-existing harness. One point to pay attention to in the instructional video is when pulling the square washer and bolt through the channel. They must slide in single file as shown. If you try to pull with the bolt through the washer it will get stuck and you will need to fish it out.

So bottom line. Great product. Great support.

2017 Chevrolet Equinox

2017 Chevy Equinox trailer hitch - not only was the product well constructed, but the videos on installation take the guess work out of it. My hitch came with a damaged box and scratches on the paint. Concerned about rusting etrailer promptly sent another which arrived fast in good condition. The service on the phone was wonderful. The local U-Haul dealer was going to charge me $4$$ for the installation which included $1$$ for the wiring. My Equinox has the trailer wiring quick connect which took me 2 minutes to open and connect the harness. So my total with receiver and harness was $1$$. Compare that to the U-Haul $4$$ quote. It was a no brainer. I am telling many friends about trailer.com. Thank you for a great product and great service!

2013 Chevrolet Equinox

Pros: plug and play operation
Easy install
Con: Does not come with loom for OEM like install

Thoroughly happy that my 2013 1LT Equinox WITHOUT towing had the proper plug for this harness. I recommend prospective owners check first if considering adding a hitch. The directions say to plug the gray connector into the existing vehicle connector to the left of the spare tire area and store inside when not in use, then pinch wire in lift gate when in tow... I did not like this so I bought the 4-pole bracket. I de-pinned the gray connector side and installed braided tubing and heat shrink, then drilled a hole into a plastic plug under the carpet, re-pinned the gray connector and done. It's not necessary, but gives a great OE finished look.

2016 Chevrolet Equinox

This was a very fast and simple installation on my 2016 Chevrolet Equinox that did not include the factor tow package. There is a connector behind the left rear wheel under the cover for the spare tire storage area. Installation involved lifting the cover to the spare tire area, quickly locating the connector, and plugging in this product. I then had working trailer power.

I read on a a different site that this trailer connector is on all Equinox even if they don't have factory trailer installed. That was the case on my Equinox. The dirrections for this product say you might need to get the power to this connector turned on by your GM Service Center but I did not have to do that. It really was as simple as plugging in the connector and having trailer lights.

I like this option much better than the T-Connector option that connects behind the rear tail lights. Installation of this product is much easier than the T-connector and it runs off separate fusses in the vehicle for the trailer lights. That means if you cut or short a wire on your trailer, it only blows the trailer fuses so you can still drive your vehicle safely.

We needed a hitch for our new 2017 Terrain to haul our bike carrier and maybe a small boat. Searched and found the best price at etrailer. Great looking hitch and perfect fit. Less than an hour to install and am very pleased with my purchase.

by:
2016 Chevrolet Equinox

It took less than a minute to install and it turned out that my trailer lighting was already enabled so I didn't need the dealer to re-program the computer. Since I use it rarely, I elected to just keep it coiled in the spare tire bay and pull it out under the door when I need it.

This is plug and play, just a 5 minute job. This plug extension is so handy to use for hooking up to my trailer, afterwards just stores by the spare tire under the back cover. Thanks

Our hitch came via UPS before promised. It took us a while to get someone to install it for us--everyone was so busy. Our 31 year old daughter installed the hitch and wiring harness without any problems. Thank you so much for a fine product!! Our dealer wanted to charge $450.00 for the hitch and installation which was crazy! Through etrailer.com it cost us $205 plus dinner for our daughter! Your company rocks! I will definately recommend etrailer.com to everyone I know!

2012 GMC Terrain

This harness works great for my Terrain. I like how I can just hide it away in the spare tire compartment when not in use.

I had to decide between this and the more expensive, more difficult to install harnesses meant for Terrains without the factory towing package. On a hunch, after viewing the installation video online for the harness with the factory towing package, I decided to see if the factory harness connector was actually in my Terrain.

I have the highest-end SLT-2 package, which includes the power rear liftgate and other extra options toward the rear-end, so I thought I might get lucky and find the connector there. Sure enough, after removing the trim panels as in the video and feeling with my hand in the area noted on the video, the connector was there, attached to the sheet metal to prevent it from rattling around. All I had to do is pull it free from the sheet metal and I had all I needed.

So for those of you who thought you didn't have this connector without the factory towing package, check for it anyway -- you may likely have it like I did if you have an up-option Terrain.

I own a 2010 Equinox 2LT with the 2.4,4 cyl engine, which did not come with a factory tow package not available with the 4 cyl engine. I also checked for the factory harness connector, and found it with no problem. The connector was live and it was a simple plug and play installation. I have heardread that some times the factory connector is there but not live and it requires a trip to the dealer to have the computor re-programed, but that was not the case with my vehicle. My daughter has just ordered a new 2013 Equinox without the tow package and I will be checking it as well... will post a report on that car as well.

2009 Chevrolet Equinox

Plugged right in to my '09 Equinox and just worked. Be aware that the OEM plug is in the the spare tire well and there isn't an opening to bring the connector outside the vehicle - the instructions have you close the hatch on the wire so this is best for occasional use.

I did not have to remove any trim pieces - just remove the cover to the spare tire well. Tiny hands help, but I managed with my gorilla hands.

2015 Chevrolet Equinox

This worked perfect for my 2015 Equinox. I first tried product number 56094, the one where you take the tail lights out and use the plugins for the tail lights. 56094 does not work. GM autos have an odd tail light set up where you only get 5 volts from the tail lights.
This harness plugs into a connection in the spare tire compartment, on the driver side, and is 12 volts. You have to be creative running the wire to the outside if you don't want to run it out back hatch door. This one is highly recommended. The other is not recommended.

The Curt # 56094 is for vehicles that arent equipped with the tow package.

purchased for my daughter's Equinox, along with factory hitch setup. This was plug and use right into a factory wire harness hook up. Tucks away under spare tire so it doesn't remain exposed except when in use. Great purchase.

Product is great and was easy to install, especially the light kit. The hitch was easy also but the instructions made it a little difficult because it didn't differentiate between the types of vehicles it was to be installed. Other than that, the product looks great and thought pricing was reasonable.
