Trailer Wiring Harness for 2013 Chevy Equinox for use With Light Strip

Question:

I have a 2013 Chevy Equinox and I would like to use an LED tail-light strip with a 4 flat connector as lights for my hitch-mount cargo carrier but it has an extra wire separate on the side for the reverse lights. Would part # 118264 be the best choice for a wiring harness? How/Where/What do I need to connect this so it remains removable with the carrier? Thanks.

The T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness for Factory Tow Package - 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118264 is a great option for a wiring harness on your 2013 Chevy Equinox for use with your cargo carrier's light strip. I have added a link to a video install of this harness on a 2013 Equinox, as well as a link to the written instruction manual so you can see exactly how and where to install it. When not using it with your light strip/cargo carrier you will simply disconnect it and store it in the rear of your Equinox.

In regards to a reverse light wire on your light strip, that is not something any 4-way connector like # 118264 will accommodate, as they only function with running, turn and brake lights. I'm not sure what light strip you have but generally what you do is splice the separate wire for the reverse lights into your vehicle's reverse light wiring. You would still be able to do that but would likely need to lengthen the wire on your light strip.
