Question:
My equinox doesnt currently have a hitch on it, but I have no idea how to look and see if it has the towing package. Its an LT model.

The best way for you to determine if your 2011 Chevy Equinox has the factory tow package or not is to place a quick call to your local Chevy dealer; simply give them your VIN and they will be able to tell you if the Equinox is equipped with the tow package or not. This is also a good idea because some models of the Equinox will need to have their computer reprogrammed after installing the wiring in order to activate the tow package so the dealer will be able to let you know if you need to do that.
Should you have the tow package, for wiring you can use the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness for Factory Tow Package # 118264; if you do not have the tow package you can use Wiring Harness # 118494.
For a trailer hitch that will fit your Equinox I recommend checking out the Curt # e98865 which is a Class III, 2" hitch that has a 4,000 lb towing capacity and 400 tongue weight capacity when used with a weight distribution system though you do need to make sure you go by the capacity of your Equinox if that is lower.
I also recommend checking out Ball Mount Kit # 989900, which is for 2” hitches and may fulfill your towing needs in one tidy package; two ball mounts - one with a 3/4” rise or 2” drop and the other with a 2-3/4” rise or 4” drop - a 1-7/8” hitch ball, a 2” hitch ball, and a pin and clip.
